Yup. Great idea. But for me it’s a lot more setup and logistics that’s not really ideal for wedding and portrait shoots. Do you typically shoot your engagements with a tripod?
Great stuff again Reggie 👍🏻 When I use the technique for commercial work though I prefer to stitch the images in Photoshop because I can better correct the issues when the file has layers (using your example, would be easier to select and fix the leaves if they were moving with the wind) or if I went through C1 imports rather than Lightroom. The latest update of Lightroom also added .PSB support so you can then adjust the larger file there too after the stitching.
You overlapped some images as part of the set, which included the subjects. What if they move a little between shots ? How does LR handle the stitching? Thanks!
It’s best practice to not have the overlap include the people. I ensure the first Shot can stand alone on its own with the subject in the correct position and expression. Never had an issue if I make sure to make the main subject The first image of the Stitch. But I don’t know I can’t really answer your question as I try to avoid multiple overlaps of the subject.
Reggie Ballesteros thanks for the reply! So I assume we take the couple shot in auto focus once done we lock it to manual focus and continue stacking ? When we aim upwards to shoot the corners , does the angle matter ? Will it affect the stitching ?
How did this Brenizer guy (a not very good wedding photographer) hijack an already well used stitching technique as his own invention….WTF! I was using this technique with 5x4 and 120mm and 35mm film 30 years ago. And artists like Hockney were using this stitching technique to produce art pieces back in the 70’s and 80’s. Thats the issue with being young and ill-informed you think everything is new.

Yeah I wouldn’t do it intentionally. Just overlap more of the edge of the frame not necessarily the subject
When up I move the camera are you going back to AF to refocus again our keeping the same focus
Same focus. You switch to manual after locking focus
so are we supposed to lock our focus and keep the focus only on the couple via manual focus?

Yup, switching it to manual allows the blur to remain consistent when aiming the camera at the other parts of the background
