      @@paulpeter2869 language is what you make of it. god knows I meant nothing of malice with that comment but rather full praise. don’t get so caught on conservative thinking of religion. god excepts everyone even my “degenerate” ass for saying AF. • @paulpeter2869

      @@chillindylan1786 there's a difference between justifying yourself with something and being oblivious to a situation, just like this one. One does not act the same way at Church, workplace and a party. Regardless of what you think God thinks, leave it up to Him. He gave you a brain to use it wisely. There's many better ways to praise God than with the AF abbreviation. Just think for a sec, would a Saint say that? Just take the criticism with love. Not throwing stones. Bringing awareness.

    • @chillindylan1786

      @@paulpeter2869 I appreciate you saying take the criticism with love. no hate brother, I definitely will do. Let’s say we can agree to disagree. I would like to think it’s best to always be your natural self and god will accept that so personally I don’t believe in changing the way I speak. In my opinion it’s elitist to think one way of speaking is more preferable for God when we do not know what God thinks. language is constantly evolving and God knows the pure intentions behind everything we speak. I’m sorry if my language offended you Paul but I can’t imagine it offending God because I meant no harm only praise. Love

    Blatant error here by the laypeople singing it: the English is misleading because it does not match with the Greek. I have seen this version comes from a a lady named "Pat" with the same voice and same translation on her own channel, where she has turned off the ability for others to comment, probably because she didnt want to take any flack for her error in translation.. Anyway, lets go back to why the translation is such a big deal in the first place: 1. byzantine music was built around the words of the chant and in this case 2. this english version does not correlate to "nikas tis vasilevsi". "Give victory to your kings" is what this corrupted english version does not acknowldge. Instead it substititues "people" for "kings" and doesnt attempt to substitute "rulers" or "president" or "prime minister" for "kings". You cant canonically do that to a hymn as simple and important as this just because you feel left out as a layperson and want the same power from the Cross as a king. Firstly "Save o Lord your people" has already been proclaimed on behalf of the laity. So laity are not left out at all. The hymn was written primarily to strengthen the leaders ruling over the people so that the leaders could make holy decisions on how to protect the country. So Pat, I don't know who you are or who your Bishop is, but you do need to correct your internet error on behalf of the Church. And if I see a response that your "Bishop has no problem with it" - well, you need to take it a step up to the Archbishop or Metropolitan to show you why this is a serious error.

      Isn’t it “grant victories to the Faithful/Orthodox Christians over their adversaries”?

    • @PheonixRise173
      @PheonixRise173 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@johngarwood The older versions of the Troparion use "granting thy right-believing Emperor/King victory over all his adversaries." This has been changed from "Right-believing Emperor/King" to "Faithful/Orthodox Christians" in modern times in countries like America where we do not have a King/Emperor. I would think it a shame if a country like the United Kingdom did not utilize the older use since they still have a Monarch.

      This is not at all a canonical error. Who do we pray for if we do not have a monarch? Muh rigorism... This version is what you'll hear in 99% of the churches around the world. I am all for canonical conduct, but your rambling here sounds like you went too deep into the canons which put a mark on your soul. Instead of carefully advising and just putting this info out there, you specifically ad hominem went on about "Pat" and about the changing of the text. Educate yourself with prayer first and then go rambling about on some random TH-cam chants. Please stop acting like a canonist. It's not your job to order people. You as a layperson can only do so much as to point this out (here or somewhere) and not advise and attack people. Your error is indeed error, and what you have attacked here is something you don't find in canons so it's your personal opinion. Go confess this... some people with their pride and nerve...
