I have seen this version comes from a a lady named "Pat" with the same voice and same translation on her own channel, where she has turned off the ability for others to comment, probably because she didnt want to take any flack for her error in translation.. Anyway, lets go back to why the translation is such a big deal in the first place: 1. byzantine music was built around the words of the chant and in this case 2. this english version does not correlate to "nikas tis vasilevsi". "Give victory to your kings" is what this corrupted english version does not acknowldge. Instead it substititues "people" for "kings" and doesnt attempt to substitute "rulers" or "president" or "prime minister" for "kings". You cant canonically do that to a hymn as simple and important as this just because you feel left out as a layperson and want the same power from the Cross as a king. Firstly "Save o Lord your people" has already been proclaimed on behalf of the laity. So laity are not left out at all. The hymn was written primarily to strengthen the leaders ruling over the people so that the leaders could make holy decisions on how to protect the country. So Pat, I don't know who you are or who your Bishop is, but you do need to correct your internet error on behalf of the Church. And if I see a response that your "Bishop has no problem with it" - well, you need to take it a step up to the Archbishop or Metropolitan to show you why this is a serious error.
