    About the Chant:
    ----
On Sundays, The "Evlogitaria of the Resurrection" is said during the Memorial Service / Jennaz. The "Evlogitaria of the Resurrection" is said because Memorial Services on Sundays are celebrations of the Resurrection According to the Flesh of Holy God the Son within the Holy Trinity / Our Lord, God and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The "Evlogitaria of the Resurrection" is also said during Orthros.
The "Evlogitaria" asks for the forgiveness of the sins of the departed servant(s) of God and asks the Lord to admit his or her soul into the heavenly mansions. The "Evlogitaria" is sung in the Fifth Tone.
    ----
This chant was performed by Fr. Apostolos Hill/ Liturgica

    Chant Text :
    ----
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
The choir of the saints has found the fountain of life and the door of
Paradise. May I also find the way through repentance, the sheep that
was lost am I, call me up to You, O Savior, and save me.
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
You who did fashion me of old out of nothingness, and with Your
Image Divine did honor me; but because of the transgressions of Your
commandments, did return me again to the earth from whence I was
taken; lead me back to be refashioned into that ancient beauty of Your
    likeness.
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
I am the image of Your unutterable glory, though I bear the scars of
my stumblings. Have compassion upon me, the works of Your hands,
O sovereign Lord, and cleanse me through Your loving-kindness; and
the homeland of my heart’s desire bestow on me, by making me a
    citizen of Paradise.
Blessed are You, O Lord, teach me Your statutes.
Give rest O God to the souls of Your servants, and appoint for them a
place in Paradise; where the choirs of the saints, O Lord, and the just
will shine forth like stars; to Your servants that are sleeping now give
    rest, overlooking all their offenses.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
The triune radiance of the One Godhead with reverent songs
acclaiming, let us cry; Holy are You, O eternal Father, and Son also
eternal, and Spirit Divine; shine with Your light on us who with faith
adore You, and from the fire eternal rescue us.
Now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Hail, O gracious Lady, who in the flesh bears God for the salvation of
all; and through whom the human race has found salvation; through
You may we find Paradise, Theotokos, our Lady pure and blessed.
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia; Glory to You, our God

I'm so tired of the protestant songs, guitars, batteries, pianos and a bunch of songs that don't have true spirituality, I just want to praise God with my voice, a worship of the heart.
I really like this kind of songs, chants, even if my church hate them and make funny of the songs.
Thank you very much for post this kind of songs!, God bless you from Chile.

I don't want to make a discussion here, but you can't say there are no spiritualism on other types of music, just because it's not related to Christianity. Please don't misunderstand me, I love this chorus, and the raw sound of voice. But there are more music that the protestant your talking about, and yet, they have their own point, as you do.

What a gem. Being Greek, I am astonished by this English translation of Greek liturgical poetry, as it stays faithful to the original. So refreshing to rediscover our ancient tradition in the lingua franca of our times. Excellent in every way.

    • @SpectatorAlius
      @SpectatorAlius 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

It is good, but don't overdo it! First of all, where Greek observes a distinction between singular and plural 2nd person pronoun, this translation keeps on using 'you' for both. It really is not so bad to use 'thou' for singular! Secondly, there was an outright error in saying "ancients beauty" instead of "ancient beauty".

Completely agree, I am not greek, I am a slav, and I always thought that the slavic versions are way too cumbersome and unwieldy. English is a lot more suitable for such translations, for it's words are shorter, easier to fit.

The choir of the saints has found the fountain of life and the door of
Paradise. May I also find the way through repentance, I am the the sheep that
was lost , call me up to You, O Savior, and save me.

The triune radiance of the One Godhead with reverent songs
acclaiming, let us cry; Holy are You, O eternal Father, and Son also
eternal, and Spirit Divine; shine with Your light on us who with faith
adore You, and from the eternal fire rescue us.

Now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
Hail, O gracious Lady, who in the flesh bears God for the salvation of

@@Alexander-tu3iv A more detailed reply will be forth-coming when this semester ends, because I saw a lot of claims in this comment that require a fleshed out answer.
However, I'd like to offer up one question for now: Do you think of Adonai and allah as being the same, just because islam claims this to be the case?
Christians understand our God to be a trinitarian deity who is not only honest, but as the one uncreated being around who's word the universe is shaped, and thus is truth incarnate. This is why when one reviews the scriptures, they find an insistence occurring over and over again that what ever prophecies or instructions are given have to be in line with prior scripture. This is why in the Gospel of John, there are repeated references to prophecies Jesus fulfilled while on earth, culminating in the "you will bite his heel, and he will stomp upon your head," line when his hands and heels were pierced on Golgotha (Name translation: the skull).
Allah on the other hand claims to be a single being, and his "we" is royal. His stance towards honesty is that he has the has the right to change his word whenever he is pleased to. In Surah 2, verse 106, he tells Muhammad that he will abrogate his words if he has a better or similar one to it.
Just based on these two things- one being holding himself to honesty and eternal consistency while the other one says he is in his right to change his words at any given point, I can reject the idea that Adonai and Allah are the same being based on the law of Contradictions.

This was absolutely beautiful! Even in English! And it wasn’t made to rhyme or anything. Just pure beauty! And I love how the different bible verses and descriptions were incorporated. Like man being in gods image. And being made from dust and to dust returning. Beautiful verse.

I was born and raised Catholic in Poland where we have beautyfull tradition of worshipping our Queen and Mother of God Virgin Mary. I cant describe what I owe to Her, as many other Poles today and in history. But Byzantine chants are full of mystic and ancient grace that I admire even though Im Catholic. Greetings from Poland.

Worshipping Mary? That's idolatry. We Christians worship only God. No other god. Only God. Not Mary, Buddha, or any other god.

@@stevenlee5673 English is not that mans first language so that may be why he said it, Catholics don't worship Mary.

I recently started attending Liturgy and I love this hymn. Both the melody and the words are such a pure expression of this faith.
