Tbf, Minecraft achievements weren't hard back then in 2012. I remember getting em all and being so proud and I felt so mad and betrayed because the game go a huge update and achievements were added and it killed my enjoyment that I refused to play Minecraft for years lol

@tyratooOP in most old ps3 edition and 360 versions of minecraft you could get all the achievements from the tutorial world in about 10 minutes. This is how I got the all colors of wool achievement

check out what Valve did in 2023 for banning cheaters. they literally sent them an item in a gift box. you open the box and if you were a cheater you got a lump of coal and a notification of your consequence. (and if u didnt cheat u got some free junk instead)

I remember when I was in 6th grade one my Xbox friends had this WaW lobby where you get all achievements and 10th prestige. A few months later I log onto Xbox with 0 gamer score and zoned as cheater 😂😭 my 6th grade self was devastated but I found the cheater zone to be funny and you could just change it back to whatever you had it as
You could change it, but it would only be on your screen, it would still show "cheater" to anyone who looked at your profile

I looked up that "Rainbow 6 cheater charm", and wow that story's crazy. According to some, the guy wasn't just a cheater. He was also a known asshole and ddosser who stole the design of the charm from some company.
If that's true, the dude just seems like a giant loser, and ubisoft was essentially ENDORSING him. The weapon charms can make creators MONEY! At that point, why even play siege? Its clear Ubi doesn't give a shit.
The reason they still play, is the same reason why madden and ea in general, is still successful..

The game dev tycoon example more belongs in a video about piracy rather than a video about cheating. At least, in my opinion.
I've spoken with some game devs in the past about how they deal with hackers and cheaters... Some of them truly do just let em play. it all depends on what they're doing. I remember a dev telling me once
"One of the biggest exploits on the game was something you found. You still had to spend 5 bucks to complete it every time right? Why would we ban you for it? You're still paying us"
one of my favorite methods of dealing with cheaters that i’ve seen is whenever someone is cheating, reroute them to a sever where everyone is cheating. that way the normal players would have a cheater-free experience, and the cheaters would be on an even playing field.
Fun fact about the Stanley parable entry: if you open the console and try to cheat again, you earn a second lecture from the narrator. Unfortunately you don’t get any additional lectures for attempts after that but it’s still pretty funny
That Banjo and Kazooie one is very true. I've seen footage of this and I've tested it myself on my old N64. The sand castle area of Treasure Trove Cove, after completing the puzzle and killing the red and black Nipper, can be used as a cheat code panel. The game generously gives you 3 "good" cheats from the resident flying book Cheato for finding him in Grunty's Lair and a handful of cosmetic cheats in Banjo's House after finishing the puzzle there. The game also has actual cheats that unlocks progression, but theres a catch. You can only enter in 2 of these codes and each time the game warns you that Grunty will punish you if you do it again. Do it a third time and Grunty basically says screw you and...nothing happens. She doesn't do anything after entering the third code. Later you decide to quit the game and thats when the trap is sprung. Your file WAS deleted. I just let you THINK you were ok but now your game is completely gone.
I modded my gamer score to get the cheater thing back in the day. Used a program to add games and bumped my score up so absurdly I was top 10 in the world for about a month LOL
I also like how in Animal Crossing New Horizons, the "time teavel punishments" happen of you generally don't play for several real world months. Your villagers will all comment on your absence and everything too! It's an adorable attention to detail.
Not even joking, when I miss a few days, I just rewind time and play each missed day individually so my villagers don't get angry (and I can cash out on my turnips). This was not possible at all on New Leaf though, since Nintendo went and added a safeguard to the 3DS's firmware to prevent players from time-skipping

Bruh, i never get how people can deal with that many dogs, especially ones that bark as if their lives depended on it. One of my neighbors has the loudest whiniest bugle ever, and keeps it outside 90% of the time, so you get to hear it at 6am 6pm 3am and every time in between. And this is in addition to the other 2 dogs they own, and the other 5 dogs that the other next door neighbors have.
As someone who knows bad eggs better than someone should, Trust me even with all the hell it makes it is still better than having a Missingno running wild. The bad egg even kind of has the data of the corrupted Pokémon in there, unless it corrupted an empty slot. Regardless when you're dealing with a Missingno you are dealing with arbitrary code execution due to overflowing variables. basically the game expects a number between 1-4 and Missingno says 75. Bad eggs are much MUCH more likely to be inert. It's a catch all fail safe; it doesn't always work, my best guess of why it's an egg is that they're ineligible for battle and trade. Gen 3 does have a Null Pokémon (named ???) that fills a similar role to Missingno in battle and is also much safer to encounter.
shadowban was pretty solid. its like destiny2. and deemed as a SOFT ban.
like playing in an isolated playground to be further investigated.
The problem is that it can be abused by mass spam reporting someone's account. The idea of isolating the suspected cheaters while it's in review is great tho
I love the oldschool runescape anti bot team, they dump all the bots in a exclusive world and they livestream them banning them and seeing what those bots have acquired in their bank all their gear and items they botted

Correction at 9:40 regarding MW3 shadow bans. Shadow bans are not handed out to "likely cheaters," per se. They are automatically handed out when a player's peer reports reach a certain threshold. At this point, they are not placed in a sperate matchmaking queue, but blocked from ANY multiplayer matchmaking at all. During this period (mine are about a week), the developer does some kind of investigation on the account, and then is either removed from the shadow ban, or presumably permabanned (this last part is an assumption, my account is always released after the week).
It's pretty easy to get shadow banned. Any halfway decent player can queue into hardcore lobbies and drop 50+ kills every game because of how much easier it is. Hardcore players always cry cheats and spam report. Sorry, hardcore players, your game mode really is just WAY easier. Not harder.
VAC seriously used to have a false flagging problem and all. To this day I don't understand why I got VAC banned from CS:GO in the super early days, it has been 4039 days and that flag still emblazons my Steam.
I'm surprised Microsoft never marked me for cheater when I joined a modded WAW Zombies game they gave everyone a mod menu and unlocked all the achievements and made myself 11th prestige
It's also worth noting that Persona 3 is part Social Sim, so having characters you're developing a bond with over the course of a 100+ hour game say they're "disappointed in you" could be surprisingly effective despite it technically doing nothing.
I cheated for the vidmasters, got recon and the cheater badge & thought it was hilarious. you get to keep the recon once you activate it on your account.

I remember a mod for Bauldurs Gate that added some new areas and one or two new followers. The mod also added cheat detection that made npcs call you a cheater to your face.

You forgot to mention Overwatch 2. They added a feature that makes people who use Zim devices have some of the worst sensitivity known to man. I’ve seen people whining like babies.
Spyro also randomly removes collectibles from you, without saying anything they just disappear and you have to go back and collect them again

I'd love to see a game basically go "Hey, we know you are playing on a hacked copy, and unfortunately you are not allowed to go any further unless you buy a legitimate copy. We'll save your progress so when you do buy the legitimate game, you can get right back here. You clearly liked the game, since you got here, why not support the devs?"
For Spyro, that's the one I got at some point back when I was first getting into PS Emulation. It doesn't let you kill the 2nd Boss.

My first assumption hearing talking about seige and "mousetrap" like, I assumed it would randomly invert, and shuffle controller input around. Like, aim becomes crouch, fire turns into walk left. Etc etc. And it would switch and re-shuffle every 3-5 seconds randomly.
What they actually did was way dumber.
My old clan leader couldnt get an achievement to pop after hundreds of attempts, so he modded that one achievement, and he lost 100k gamer score
I remember getting Shadow banned on MW2019 back when the AS VAL came out since it had a glitched attachment which made it capable of shooting through any object on the map, basically got reported to the point it triggered the auto ban system for about 2 weeks till they fixed people getting banned from their mistake.
Metroid Prime black screened on me when I used an Action Replay to go into areas before I was supposed to.

24:52 there is an EVEN SIMPLER WORK AROUND; make it think it's an Xbox Controller and pass the inputs through as if it were a controller (yes this does work)
There are some controllers out there that contain a gyroscope sensor and also convert rotation motions to mouse-like right stick could also get picked up by mouse trap. Back button addons can also add a motion sensor if you get the "pro" version of that addon.
On top of that, controllers without any of that stuff could also trigger mouse trap if the analogue stick has erratic drift while you move the stick around but is otherwise a normal stick. Probably only high sensitivity and erratic stick movement is the detection.

Thinking on the TF2 thing. I think the situation was actually the TF2 Hat crisis. Where for a time the crates would almost always have hats or cosmetics with effects. But Valve would later make it so you cannot trade them and I don't remember if that Cheaters Remorse was for people who didn't abuse the crate exploit

The RB6 thing you guys bought up happens in many games. World of Warcraft did a similar kind of thing. A lot of people were buying gold from 3rd party sites so instead of fixing the issue they decided to add their own way to buy gold and completely killed any integrity the game had left.
Games like Fall Guys do it the best way.
Just shadowban them by putting them all in the same lobby.

The funny thing about Animal Crossing was that there was a cheat that people would do with time traveling,
and it wasn't even about stock markets it was about Turnips where I think it's every Thursday (or every other one) there's a traveling villager merchent that would randomly spawn and would sell turnips which ALWAYS netted you a profit as long as you waited (obviously the rewards were either small a or great) but,
the anti cheese strat was that if you tried to skip to their next apprence you would end up with only rotten turnips which sell for 1 bell each otherwise you usually always get at least a small net gain of bells so that's how people tried to game the system with time travel (not sure what you mean by stock market crashing or whatever lol)

Cheating in single player is vastly different then cheating in multiplayer. I get punishing the multiplayer cheaters and those that pirate a game, but punishing single player gamers who bought their game and want to use cheats or mods would be going to far. I remember when I was playing GTA V on pc I modded Michael, Franklin, and Trevor with body swap mods and about halfway through the game I thought I might check out the multiplayer and a pop up said I had a modded version of the game and couldn't play multiplayer, and that was fair, so I shrugged and went back to single player because that was far more interesting to me. I know some games, like Hearts of Iron IV, disable things like steam achievements if it detects mods but otherwise lets you enjoy your game however you want.
I literally did this exact same thing 😂. Friend had one of those transfer cables. Had him get me the halo achievements so I could get recon, plus had some fun on WAW zombies. Good times.

37:16 Actually, yeah they did. They also removed items gained by idling. Also VAC bans do occur, I used to see TONS of VAC banned people on Steam forums back in the TF2 and CS peak popularity days. There was even a player infamously VAC banned DURING a tournament but like other devs, they ban in waves because banning as soon as a cheat is detected gives too much info to cheat developers on what triggers bans.

That's actually hilarious that RB6 doesn't have mouse and keyboard support for console. It would have just made sense to have it from the start, I don't understand why these console companies want to force people to use their controllers.. Part of the reason I never bought a console after the PS3. Using mouse and keyboard in my eyes doesn't REALLY classify as cheating as I've always played on PC so it's what I'd expect console players to have access to as well.

I have never seen Zone: Cheater but i did have a friend called Xbox Activision and the bio said "Code of Conduct" and i never knew what that meant. But they had achievements like "Xbox Kinect Beta" and "Xbox 360 Launch" so idk if it was a modded account or what

Remember being a edgy teen loading up halo 3 and going to change my armor and had a couple random new helmets, (well new to me at the time) The recon and security helmet. Popped it on and the amount of messages and people wanting to play with me was insane. A couple months went past and it wasn’t as special but boy oh boy what a time. Recon gave me a power I wasn’t ready for at that time lol

The Dunce cap is redundant largely because Bad Sports could only play with other Bad Sports. In addition, the system was frequently gamed due to being far too easy to fall into, which resulted in the requirements being much more lenient as time went on. Some systems, like PC, had Bad Sport completely disabled.
The Duke O' Death exploding lasted a relatively short time, approximately a couple months. It was later put onto the blacklist (prohibiting it from being spawned/stored), then taken off when it was made officially available. Nowadays it's free to all players, and failed to carve a niche in the wider PvP meta, while being completely outclassed by the Armored Kuruma and Nightshark in PvE.
The game does have another kind of punishment for cheating though - people who sell large amounts of duplicated cars may see the cooldown between selling cars get longer than the typical once every hour, up to being able to sell cars once every day or so.
Tbh PC is the platform where bad sport lobbies are needed the most

I don’t get why they don’t just support M+KB outright in Ubisoft console games. People who want to take things more serious can simply by a set without having to spend another 100+ dollars on the xim-like devices and at that point it’s on the player whether or not they want to participate, not Ubisoft.
I say that as a guy that played shooters on console for about 20 years, from Goldeneye to TitanFall 2 (and everything in between). FPS games just don’t feel good without a mouse, I moved over to PC and legitimately can’t play them with a controller anymore and have no idea how I did for so long.
I don’t really play PvP anymore though, the only reason I’d thought about grabbing a Xim was to play some coop with my Xbox friends but they cost too much.
That was a crusty ass controller got so much finger cheese 🧀 😅

Punishing players in single player games for cheating is wild. I'm all for the punishment on pirated copies but if I want to enable cheats then so he it. It's single player, I'm not hurting anyone.
This is why if you are going to do anything like modding or the likes check if the game dev actually supports it, like gearbox allowing people to cheat and mod guns and such into borderlands or the devs of state of decay, they legit advocate for a specific mod menu on the discord. But keep in mind sometimes Microsoft or whatever you are on will crack down on ya

11:15 You got Earthbound mixed up with the original MOTHER. Earthbound was MOTHER 2 and released in 1994/1995 for the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo.
Also weird that you got the Animal Crossing stuff wrong since I've seen your AC channel before. That's just the normal stuff that happens when you don't play for a long time. In fact you actually unlock the bad hair as an actual customization option after you get it.
