Good morning Mamas, and thank you for joining me for today's video! ☕️ I think this is a topic that we can ALL relate to! What boundaries do you have in place to protect YOUR homeschool? 🤍
Such a great video. It’s really about giving ourselves permission- to let the breakfast dishes go unwashed, to allow the notification to go unread, to not wash our hair haha. We’ve chose this amazing homeschool life let’s live it and love it!
I am sitting here in tears, as I listened to this video. This is right where I am at! I appreciate your perspective on this topic. It has helped me today! I am a new homeschool Momma, I have struggled with balancing everything that I need to do, and feeling so overwhelmed that I cannot enjoy anything! Then I take it out on everyone else. Lord help me to set healthy boundaries! I really appreciate this video! ♥️🙏
I've been homeschooling several years and still get overwhelmed at times. I think she's right! We do put a lot of pressure on ourselves which leads to feeling overloaded trying to balance everything. I have read the book she recommended. I need a refresher course. Thankful for this video ❤️
It is SO overwhelming at first, especially when you feel like you need to do all the things or have everything figured out right away. You WILL find your footing and learn your boundaries! Hang in there, and I'm praying for you, Mama! ❤️
Do any of y'all struggle with your school day.... when your husband is around? I find it harder to stay on task when he is home or up. He works nights so he sleeps until around 3pm. I feel like if we don't get everything done before he is up, then it won't get done.
Fell in a rabbit hole and have no idea how I ended up on your channel. I don't have school aged children any longer but wow, God must have known I needed to hear this message about boundaries and accepting my limitations. Thank you for this beautiful message.
No phone during school, YES girl, same!!! One of the biggest, if not, THE biggest distraction during our homeschool time. Putting it away is key! 💜 I love the truth you shared today. I appreciate your heart, always. 💗 It has been such a blessing getting to follow along your journey, Christie.
I just realized this video is a couple months old but I can't believe how timely it was for me to find it! I'm not a homeschooling mom. I have 2 kids in public school and I work outside the home. My kids are busy and involved in all kinds of things. Even so,, everything you talked about resonated with me right now! I, literally just today resigned from a volunteer commitment that was eating my lunch. I also backed off of a 2nd job I have been working for almost 15 years in a field I absolutely used to love. Overcommitment ruined these things for me and I have been feeling so pulled to get my priorities straight!! My kids and husband have suffered severely from me being so overcommited to everything but them. I was meant to hear this tonight. I appreciate you and will be checking out those books!! Thank you!!
being okay with having a messy house during the day- YES. if I didn't learn this, I'd do all the housework and then school would never get done. It's so important to have that mindset. amennnnn
I love this!!!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 oh my word. You have no idea how much I needed this. I’m 4 months into homeschooling and feeling so alone and lost but this was exactly what I was needing.
Oh I love this! I put so many expectations on myself and weigh myself down. I need to get better about putting the phone down and just use it during those scheduled breaks. Thanks for this inspiring video!
I cannot express how much I needed to hear this. I’m a people pleaser as well and still struggle with boundaries and the ability to say no, as a homeschooling mama of nine years. Thank you for opening up and allowing yourself to be vulnerable in the hopes of helping other families! Your honesty, wisdom, encouragement, and willingness to share the love of Christ is a blessing to this tired, stretched far too thin mama. I believe God used your words to lay upon my heart that boundaries are indeed what is lacking in my family’s life. The absence of them is robbing us of our joy, time, and peace. So thank you Christie, (sp? 😬) for these gentle reminders, and I’m looking forward to diving into the two books you recommended. God bless you and your sweet family and thank you again! 😊
Thank you so much for your comment!! It is so encouraging. And from one people pleaser to another, setting boundaries can be SO uncomfortable, but they are so incredibly worth it!
Well said, Christy! Very well said. God first, be honest with yourself with what you can handle healthily, and simplify your life where you can. This is my 8th year homeschooling and it has definitely been a journey. I've been watching you for a few months, and I can see that you really have a heart to connect with and help other homeschool moms. I personally felt that connection with you today and your encouragement was strengthening! I want to encourage you back by telling you that you are doing an amazing job here on your channel. Your authenticity and passion are inspiring! Thanks for all that you do, sister. God bless! :) Also, I seen in one of your previous videos that you are from NWI! I grew up in Hobart and lived there til i got married. I now reside in Alabama with my husband and kids, but i always love coming back to visit my family and the dunes!
Thank you so much for this sweet, encouraging comment! I LOVE connecting with other homeschool moms, especially seasoned homeschoolers such as yourself whom I can draw inspiration from! And WOW, small world! We are a short driving distance from Hobart! 🤍
🤯 "It's me." It's so true! The expectations I put on myself are the problem. I am always wondering why my days are so hectic and yet there are always things that don't get done and I don't have the time to spend just to have fun with the kids. I need to set boundaries for myself if I want things to slow down and be able to enjoy this time. Thank you so much Christie. Eyes opened. I suddenly get it. I know exactly what I need to do going forward. ❤
Thank you so much for this video. This is a topic I've been thinking about this week especially. It's been hard at times to say no when people I assume I can do other things because I am home (like babysit). I have learned through experience and prayer that doing anything that takes away from this time with my kids that we have chosen for ourselves really does throw us off and stress us out. It works so much better when we have a pattern with our school week and we reserve that time for us as much as possible.
Absolutely!!! And it is difficult when people assume we have so much free time since we are home. I have honestly never been so busy in my life, and boundaries are absolutely essential in protecting our peace!
I love this! I’ve struggled with a lot of what you’re saying in this video as a second year homeschooler. It’s definitely something I need to work on this year.
You are an inspiration! 5 kids aged 1 -11 keeping it together AND homeschooling, you go mama! Thank you for these tips on intentionally setting boundaries, extremely helpful 💛 Since you have kids that are over the toddler age I would love to hear what their thoughts are on homeschool and maybe some of their favourite things about it.
Yes! My mother once while visiting got on me for not cleaning throughout the day since I stay home. As lovingly as I could I explained during the day our priority is to school and being present. She has never been a sahm and is like the energizer bunny. She doesn't completely understand it but left the topic alone.
Everybody has their own boundaries that work for their family, and sadly sometimes others just aren't going to understand them! Keep doing what you're doing, Mama!
Thanks for sharing felt very authentic. You are awesome Christie! The phone is definitely a distraction and should be in another room. Simplicity is key in our home expectations we place on ourselves steals our joy.
Christie! Thank you for sharing this, it really hit home for me. Ive really struggled to be "here" with my kiddos and now we are about to start homeschool and I've barely got my head around the fact that I don't go to work anymore;.I definitely needed this boundaries pep talk. I am so grateful for the openness and honesty that you share here. It's is encouraging and empowering.
I just grabbed boundaries with kids on audible to listen to. This was such a great video - a great reminder to give grace to yourself as a mother. Yes yes yes. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much for making this video! It takes such courage to be vulnerable and to pour out your heart! It is so nice to listen to another mother growing, learning, stumbling through this crazy ride just like I am! I am a homeschooling mom to three boys and you truly sang to my soul today, it is so easy for me to become consumed with the areas in my life where I feel like I'm failing or need to improve, that I'm missing all the things that I'm succeeding at, I'm not being content in my season! This was such a powerful reminder to me and I thank your so much! God Bless You!
The timing on this video for me is perfect! Thank you for sharing your heart and what you have learned! I also had tears throughout this video! Love your heart! 🤗
Love, love, love this video ❤️ I really need to set my boundaries. It can be overwhelming when I try to do too much while homeschooling my son. He really does need me 100% focused on him. Everything else will just have to wait until later in the day. And I will not feel guilty about that ❤️
I love your honesty! What you said that it starts with us when it comes to being frantic and overwhelmed really resonated with me. A lot of truth in that and powerful reminder. Thank you for this video! 💕💕
So good! I can do relate to #3! This has definitely been a year of embracing the slow & simple in our homeschool & just being together. I know seasons will change so I'm savoring it!
AMEN!! It feels like it flies in the face of everything this world seems to stand for - but what other time in our lives do we have the permission to do this?! It's such a beautiful thing! 🤍
Thank you so much for this video Christie! It resonated with me so much. We have so much in common. It is good to hear another mama that’s going or gone through the same things. Have a blessed week. ❤️
I just recently subscribed and I have to say thank you so much for opening up and discussing topics that I literally thought I was the only one going through!. Love the boundaries points!..also do you have any recommendations for read alouds for the younger kiddos. I homeschool a 3rd grader and kindergartner. God Bless you MAMA!
I loved this and learned so much. Thank you. I need help learning how to put homeschooling first and put the phone away however I have 5 at home still and 2 of those are special needs, 1 of which needs a lot of scheduling, planning, daily treatments, etc. I feel like I can't keep up and we will be getting a provider soon to help me but I feel like this will be another distraction. I have a 14 special needs, 12, 10 special needs, 7, and 3. Example: some weeks have 4 appts, 2 therapies, maybe even an overnight stay in another city to see specialist, daily injections or treatments through tube that may take an hour. What are your thoughts? Putting homeschool first when there's a child who needs so much and it effects all of them.
I think in this case, your child's therapies and appointments would need to take precedence, and homeschooling can be worked around them! You're an amazing mama! 💜
#3 PRAISE JESUS! My banner word I've placed over my life is SIMPLICITY. My one and only son is currently not enrolled in any extras. And I'm ok with that. I refuse to allow a rigid agenda chockfull of go-go-go's to rule my life. Many people make their schedules of being involved in everything a "god" and that is something I do not want to allow into my life. This was an excellent video, Christie!
All so true and great points. Thank you for your honesty. Do you mind sharing what your homeschool schedule looks each day? It sounds you school a full day?
Hi Christie! Beautiful video on implementing boundaries in your homeschool. I've been researching other homeschool mama's experiences in boundary issues because I'm putting together a Journaling Workbook & have created a group coaching program around this exact topic (which I think is often the reason homeschool mamas, my story included, are dealing with overwhelm, energy depletion and doubt). Our relationships to ourselves and others and whether we're acknowledging our needs, are so important. If you'd like to be on my season on Boundaries in our Homeschool for my podcast, Homeschool Mama Self-Care I would love to have you!

I’m so glad I’ve come across your channel. You’re just precious. Thank you for this. ❤️
The boundaries series CHANGED my life when I read it over 10 years ago. A must read for EVERYONE!
It is SO good, and so eye opening!
I didn’t even know there was a Boundaries with Kids book!! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, yes, yes! 1,000 times over. Listen to what she is saying. This is truth. Thank you for putting this into words for other wives and mommas.
🤍🤍🤍🤍
Can you do a video how you fit in laundry, cleaning the house, workouts, quiet time while having boundaries ? ,
Sure!! 🤍
That Boundaries book! YESSSS! That one was my very first "toe dip" into boundaries and what they are! Such a good/healthy read.
It really was such an eye-opening book to me!! I realized just how many areas of my life had blurred lines!
Yes, I love those books

It is a reminder we ALL need from time to time! 🤍
Yes! I read Boundaries years ago, but I think I need to reread it, and read the Boundaries with Kids one!
Boundaries With Kids is SO good!!! A great continuation in the series! 🤍
Thank you, I needed this!! ❤️
Thank you so much for spending the time to make this video! It truly helped me
Such truth in this video. Thank you for this!
🙋🏼♀️ So hard to be transparent! Totally feel you, mama! Love your heart to share and help others!!

AMEN, friend!!! I have so many friends who are constantly stressed about being a chauffeur to their kids 24/7, and I knew I didn't want that for us! 🤍
All so true and great points. Thank you for your honesty.
Do you mind sharing what your homeschool schedule looks each day? It sounds you school a full day?
We school from about 9-2ish with a long break! I have a couple schedule videos on my channel 🤍
What do you do about playdates or coops? I am feeling overwhelmed by a friend who is wanting to get together weekly. 😬
Been there!! I would just voice to her what works best for your schedule! No need to overexplain - she should be open to respecting your boundaries 🤍
Random question, where'd you get your shirt?
This was from Target last year, I believe!
Love your suggestions. Do you think the boundaries book would be good for a high schooler to read?
I think it would be excellent for a young adult!
If you'd like to be on my season on Boundaries in our Homeschool for my podcast, Homeschool Mama Self-Care I
would love to have you!
Doesn't filming distract you also? For me if I try to film it's hard distract the kids and me trying to move the camera. Not to be rude or anything. I lay aside my phone also
Absolutely! Thankfully I keep filming during school time very minimal (we do a DITL once every few weeks!)
Who told you to make this video for me? 🎯
🥰🥰🥰
