    I am awed to see the progress from a few dead trees to where you are now. It's been a ride and a half. I hope your pride in your accomplishments is greater than the struggles you have endured and the blood you have given.
    Give Swab some serious tickles and love from me. He's the best project manager. He gives the staff a goal for his new home and leaves them to it... Whilst also, silently, taking the piss out of the terrible attempted Australian accents. ;)

    I love that tile countertop. Adjustable wrenches are good for holding backup and busting knuckles (or foreheads). Terrible for loosening and tightening anything. But when it's all you have, it's all you have.

I think maybe your backing plate was redone on the one piece. Ruth bless your heart, yes get the socket for that work. How are you treating through hull holes against weather? Your splicing is always very nice. Best wishes from Georgia and respect sent. Thank you all for sharing. You have some talented friends who are helping. 👍👏⛵️⚓️

    Welcome to the club Ruth. So I got a story for ya involving me, a 7/16th wrench, and a set of headers. I got a new set of headers for my 20th birthday for my first car, a 67 Mustang. While attempting to tighten the torques head bolts I ran into one that was especially hard to get to. Being a bit frustrated and not thinking I leaned in over the bolt and pulled up hard. Next thing I knew I was sitting on the ground next to my car seeing stars. The wrench had slipped off the bolt head and I punched myself in the face wrench in hand. The wrench connected with my head just about the exact same place as your wrench did... ;-)

    Love that counter top. More things done, more to go. Keep after it guys, it won't be long and you will be on the deep blue. Take care, stay well and the best thing for a knock on the old noggin is a cold beer held gently against the injury, then consumed shortly there after.

    A mark on the forehead is called a bindi,. It identifies a married Indian woman but also symbolizes wisdom. So in my thinking, that happened just so everyone knows Ruth is very wise but could really use a socket and ratchet.

  • @hankcohen3419

    Sorry to see Ruth get bonked. I agree with Dave Jordan, sockets or box wrenches. (Dave must be a Brit). Another couple of points learned from working on cars. Always prefer a socket or box wrench, only use an open-end wrench if you can't get the box wrench on and never use a crescent wrench unless it's the only thing you have. Next if you are pushing on a wrench then use your open hand. Don't grab the wrench and push unless you want bloody knuckles. I'd go so far as to say that a cheap combination wrench is better than any crescent wrench. Harbor Freight is your friend even though everything they sell is crap.

    Yeah, socket set for sure, but in the meantime turn the adjustable wrench over so that the long top edge is pulling the tension and try to hold it as flat as possible , not tilted out away from the head of the bolt or the nut. That will help reduce the chance of it slipping off under tension. oweee...

    Counter top coming along great. I hope Ruth's head did not ache for too long. Sling the adjustable wrench overboard and get either or all box/ring or socket wrenches. Once you start to get some salty water on the adjustable wrench it will never work right again. Stay safe. Fair winds & regards from the UK

      Depends on what type of grout they use. Theirs a product that comes in a caulking tube thats basically just caulk with sand in it ment for expansion joints. Its exspensive but two tubes would probably be enough for their small counter.

    I'd bet I'm not the only one who felt that one right along with ya, Ruthie.
    Took it like a champ, ya did though.
    Congrats! Battle scars only serve to proove you were in the fight, lass. Good on ya!

  • @johntripp2028
    @johntripp2028 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm not a fan of the chain plates but my opinion on that has no relevance.:) "BUT" I do have a suggestion. The backing block is too narrow. Sooner or later you are going to hit the dock. That skinny block will just shear the chain plate bolts right off. That block should be at least double the width of the current block. It's all about leverage and the fulcrum point on the bolt. Remember you have to do everything three times before you get it like you want it. Love you guys. Just keep on going.
    Yay, I saw my tiller. Whoo Hoo.
