  • I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done a video here. Sorry for being MIA as it has been insanely busy the past few months.
    All great stuff, but I’m due for a little vacation for sure. Greece maybe?
    This is just a general video mainly catching up with you guys and going over a few triad things and some recurring chord relationships. Fun stuff!
    Thanks always for your support!

    Love the longer hang. Plenty of time for your stories, news, and a great lesson. Here’s to 100k, being tired, and working your ass off to be the best. Put the pedal to the floor!

    I’ve had a rough couple months due to my wife filing for divorce after 18 years in May.
    Recently, I was in Nashville for three weeks helping my mom sell her house and thankfully I was able to catch you for three shows at the UD. Watching you perform those nights has helped me get through this difficult time and I want to thank you, your band and Cal. You guys are amazing. Also, thanks for signing my guitar and once I get back on my feet, I’ll be hitting you up for a lesson. Thanks!

    Just throwing this out there.. I keep accidently making country chord progressions, licks, etc sound too bluesy versus country. If you did a video on how you think of making "types of sounds". I'd love that. You may have one already. I'm not through all your videos yet. Love it man. All of it. Your playing, your teaching, your style etc. Keep on keeping on brutha!! 🤘

    Even a tired GT still flows all over the neck - lately I’m seeing the triads inside bigger chords then working on trying to be melodic and less predictable - really challenging but it’s good work.

    Pedals can be interesting and cool on occasion, but......nothing compares to the sound of a great Tele straight into a small Fender tube amp....especially with a master of touch, taste and tone...personified, like no other, by Guthrie Trapp!

    • @DanielC__
      @DanielC__ 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Agreed x 1000! I’ve gone on pedal extravaganza’s and always end up getting back to basics. Theres a place for pedals and even though I’ve had gigantic pedalboards I only end up using a small fraction of them and sometimes none of them.

    • @buzzfretwear2906
      @buzzfretwear2906 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Pedals are practically essential if you’re a working session guitarist. I agree that a Tele straight into the amp is a great tone. But there tons of great tones made with pedals too. I don’t get the polarization I see surrounding this topic sometimes. Everyone has their own tastes and preferences 😎

    I did the immersion experience out at your place about 2 years ago. I had a great time but I barely played a note because this stuff was like Latin to me even though I've been playing for 45 years. And even though I have relatively decent chops, I had no idea about what I didn't know. I had just never heard of these concepts. Since that time I have watched a ton of these videos and it's slowly kicking in. I am going to do a Zoom lesson or two real soon and then another immersion. I hope not to embarrass myself next time I come out. Thanks for being patient with me!

    I definitely believe in clean sounds, just amp and guitar but I like that Halo and I’d like to buy one and use it just enough. They’re pricey though, gotta save for it.
    Guthrie, that reminds me of the song on your solo record w/Tom.
    I need to work on those triads.
