Thank you for the wonderful video. It's been almost 50 years since I drove around Taupo on one of my skiing holidays from Australia. The road has been improved significantly and the town grown a lot. And still some of the best-looking countryside in the world.
Thanks BV. I’m coming over for Burt Munro festival, from Tasmania. Bringing my bike so your videos have inspired me to visit so many beautiful parts of NZ. Thanks heaps. Annie
Thanks for that. I hope you have fun at the festival. If you have the time you should pop over to Milford Sound. I haven't been there yet but it's definitely on my "must see" list.
When I saw the title, I thought yay, I haven't been up that hill for a while, but no, you didn't turn right at the top. I've been up and down this road to the tower so many times during my years working for BCL, formerly NZBC now Kordia, the views are awesome, especially from the top of the tower.
I assume this comment was aimed at the Whariti Rd video. I almost went up the hill but the sign said Private Road. I never know whether these private roads allow public access. And I wouldn't want to publish a TH-cam video that shows me trespassing.
I do like your rides get to see more of home place's I have not been and the banter nice I live and work in Hamilton so if you are ever up give us a shout
The hill @ 3:55 was known as Mark Neil's Haircut. Mark was the barber following the power projects on the Waikato and was in Turangi possibly from the late 60's but definitely in the 70's. Our mother would take us to Taumarunui for a haircut. Anthony

Thank you. Yes, it's a great town. It's quite funny thinking that the whole thing is an active super-volcano.

@@theNZbv hi. I have six weeks so plenty of time to explore.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
Good stuff mate👍
Thanks 👍
Did a ride to Whakamaru Dam 2 weekends ago, an interesting place to visit. Thanks for the video.
I've gone over the dam a number of times before. This was the first time that I thought to stop and have a look at the bottom of it.
Love the views, spent plenty of my early years in and around Taupo.
I might have to buy a bike!
I find that I'm likely to explore when I'm on the bike.
The little cabins at Whakamaru are privately owned. Great campsite though!
That explains the small fence around it. I thought it might just be a seasonal thing. Still good to know that the cabins are there.

Thanks. I don't get up that way very often. Might be something to do when the days get longer.

Thanks. It's interesting to know some of the local stories around landmarks.
