Agreed... None of this is true of the Walmart I shop at! All these items are way cheaper than the competitors. It's like the people that did the video have never stepped into an Albertson's
I don't shop Wal-Mart anymore because i check receipts all the time and you may see something listed at $4.99 and when it rings up it's $503. Happens all the time and they like to act like they didn't know when they do.
In the past, I've often found Walmart produce to be of poor quality, and I've sometimes found the seafood section to smell fishy. That makes me leery of many of their food products. Lately I've been buying almost all my food at Market Basket (a New England chain) where they pay a lot of attention to freshness. Their prices are excellent, better than WM in many cases.
My family came from fishers and farmers, later in life we delivered to many fish stores and even owned a fish market at one time. They all smell like fish honey. Trust me.
Items at end caps are sometimes priced higher than the same items located on aisle shelves. Walmart sells GMO salmon because it's cheaper. If it doesn't feature the Marine stewardship council label It isn't wild caught but farmed mostly from foriegn sources with questionable safety. Low price comes at a high cost.
@jessee sky you may be able to wash the pesticides off your produce but that won't restore all the bees it kills, and without bees you won't have any produce to wash.
@jessee sky wrong. It is science. Non organic produce had been proven to have those pesticides within the cells. You can't "wash off" pesticides inside cells.
Yep. That's what I do because that's what my mom did and still does. She had to raise two kids by herself and working min. Wage and only $80 a month food stamps and dads that won't pay child support.

Walmart sells low quality items hart tools, dr schools shoes at cheap prices then the customer complains it didn't last Lawn mowers come back as fast as they are sold One friend bought a hart drill it stopped drilling a hole, at 60 for it took it apart contains plastic gears. They even charge less for brand names...more so than regular grocery stores. For example, I get Sargento sliced cheese at 2.69 for 8 oz. The grocery stores charge about 4 dollars for it.
Did the research my self. Walmart Jif peanut butter 2.22 Target 2.29 Kroger 2.59. Yeah might want to do a little research before you make claims like this. Kinda makes you look dumb when anyone can look up the items you are talking about and see that you are wrong. Folgers coffee 30.5 ounce. Walmart 6.96 Target 7.19 Kroger 7.99.

Not only that, there is an added out of pocket cost if you have to go to another store...gas, wear and tear, value of your time etc...even if it was more expensive (which your research shows is not the case in this example) by the time you add those additional costs to actually go to another store you are far further behind trying to save a few cents.
Yes indeed I have seen from week to week prices going up I just don’t buy. With the huge profits Walmart has you would think they would keep prices reasonable. They also vary from store to store . Particularly at times like these.
Guys. Don't listen to this video on pricing. They didn't bother doing research because it's actually cheaper than other stores. Also, I like how they talk about organic and show meat. This place is joke.

They ruined all of our old time stores , undercut everyone until they all went broke.. walmart stinks !!! China junk ! Our Last hardware store is gone now in my area. They do nasty tricks to their meats also.... Just to get more weight!
Did anyone else watch this and find it highly speculative, somewhat misleading and often completely detached from the reality you find when YOU go to Walmart? I'd wager that most of us have at least TWO grocery stores, and that the overwhelming majority of us who go to WM and another store get everything we can at WM, then hit the other store for whatever it has on sale or an odd or end that is always cheaper there or can't be gotten at WM. Regardless, we're well aware of how the prices on like goods stack up, and in an obscene percentage of cases WM has the better deal. Also, is it the contention of this video that WM is the only store selling frozen food that is horrible for us? Was it so difficult to find 10 things that they threw in one very specific type of frozen pizza? And even if WM does use some of these practices - which seems assumed more than proven - that doesn't mean the chain grocery stores aren't doing the exact same thing. This is to pick on WM - not actually absolve any of its competitors. So fresh fruits and vegetables are less expensive than vitamins, eh? One small orange has 50 mg of Vitamin C, so it takes 10 oranges to equal 500 mg. A bag of 10 oranges costs, say, $3-$4. A bottle containing 100, 500 mg tablets of Vitamin C costs $8. I do believe you absorb more of the Vitamin C - and all of the harmful sugar - better from its natural form, but not so much that it can't be overcome by taking multiple tablets per day. And your body is going to fight back if you try eating 10 oranges every day.

being a member of the midwest i dont buy seafood that isnt canned or frozen, cause i am FAR from the ocean whether it be the Atlantic OR the Pacific. and when it comes to Walmart, their Meat on a whole is suspect, even their "low cost pork", my family has brought back meat that was no good from the store and we end up throwing it away. so you want fresh? then dont shop at Walmart, go for the stuff that takes much longer to go bad, like their potato chips, their chips are sooo cheap, you can get Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffle clones for 99c a bag, compared to like $3-4 a bag.
Yeah I wouldn't throw that away. I'd take it back. But then again I hardly ever buy their meat unless it's frozen & on clearance. Actually I can't remember the last time I bought meat there. I usually get it at a nearby store that's cheaper.

I enjoy watching these videos because they are almost as funny as the original Mash series. Thanks for the laughs Mashed.
I always buy ground beef at Carrefour. Usually they already have what I want but sometimes I'll choose a fattier steak and have them grind it for me. (I might do this if I intend to use the fat for a purpose like heating tortillas, or cooking onions, mushrooms, etc., for burgers.) Costco ground beef is not only too lean, but also too much in a package. Great video, BabbleTop!
Well I'm sure glad I'm very cheap. I tend to not get things unless it's a good deal. But even then I try to only get what I will use or want. Then I change my mind multiple times during a shopping trip. It's why I wander the aisles multiple times. Just back & forth.
Knowing prices is an excellent shopping tool. People in a hurry lunge at what appears to be a low price. That low price is often higher thats how Walmart makes more money.
Pretty much every claim in this video is incorrect in every Walmart I have been in, across the East Coast. Living in a small "Walmart" town, where Wally is the main retailer and there is 1 small chain grocery store, 2 regional IGAs a Family Dollar + Dollar General, Walmart has the lowest prices across the board. Everything costs less there. Peanut butter especially. Research the origin of the fish, supplements and meats wherever you shop. Their Organic section and plant based options are the largest in town. Costco is 1.5 or 3 hours away (one direction) and requires a membership. This maybe correct regionally, but not nationwide. Besides, you know you go in there to see "the people of Walmart" anyhow. Pure entertainment in any location.
Look, sometimes you have no other choice. You have to feed your kids, the grocery store doesn't deliver, you don't have a car but guess what Walmart delivers. So Whoop! There it is!🙄
I have never had an issue with their vitamins nor their meat, when it comes to meat, if I buy it from say Tops, Price Chopper or our local(which are very expensive and they brown or in a sense go bad in less then a week). Our local grocery shop 1 does not have varity at all, their price are very high, especailly since the son took over. Walmart is cheaper for one and easy on one who is on a limited budget.
I disagree with so many claims in this video, I stopped counting. I buy the Great Value brand and have been pleased with the quality as well as the price.

So I'm guessing they don't shop at a Walmart because I'm only half way thru video and have to stop. They really have no idea what they are talking about. Like at all.
I like Walmart's Great Value brand for some food items like cereal and chips because there is no difference in the taste from big name brands . I have had a couple of issues with their meat. Twice I bought a package of USE BY. ( date) only to bring it home , cook it up the same day and it had a spoiled taste to it . Other than that , their meat is good
Compare the nutrition information of GV cheerios and the real thing. I'm not saying it's huge or that you would even care, but it demonstrates that in the case of some manufactured products they are not the same. That being said, if I'm getting salt, sugar, etc., I'm all about GV.
My family and I have lived with H-E-B ground beef of various types for as long as I can remember. My wife buys it because her family always bought the H-E-B brand. Well, one day the Missus and I went to visit my mother and her boyfriend, and well.... he would get his ground beef from WalMart... Holy shit did that meat smell... It had not gone off or anything, it's just as my mother was cooking it, it gave off and odor like a slaughterhouse. Yeah, no. None of us had ever wasted our money on ground beef from WM. it even tasted like a slaughter house. They clearly do not properly drain their livestock prior to freezing. I couldn't eat more than a couple of bites. neither could my wife. And it sucks because the dish she ( my mother ) made is always awesome. Mum commented to me later in the evening that SHE was going to do the shopping from now on. Seems her dude didn't notice a thing, which means he is used to eating WalMart's SHIT meats. Gross.
The seperation between farmed and wild fish is still up for heavy debate and is mainly down to some unscrupulous fisheries or in the case of wild fish, overfishing leading to lower quality. Saying that one is better than the other kind of goes down to a 'it depends' kinda thing.
Actually, a lot of off brand foods are manufactured in the same factory as the name brands, and are actually exactly the same in ingredients and quality.
The...ugh, I’m nearly speechless about this...I’m always so broke, & I can’t handle handling meat, so eating vegan food is just so much simpler. The politics, ethics & economics surrounding meat, dairy & eggs are all just too personally overwhelming to navigate. That, & Walmart is just an assault on the senses. Once, after years of avoiding Walmart, I sucked it up to go check out their produce & an over-eager greeter scared me nearly out of my skin. Yeah, the “greeter” job is likely fairly straightforward for the greeter, but that guy...damn, I was certain I’d done something wrong, the way he pounced on me the moment that door slid open. I’ve never been quite assured of the quality I’d find at Walmart, nor do I care to grocery shop at multiple places each week. My first stop is always Dollar Tree, then a farmers market (during the season), then just the produce dept/bulk foods at a regular grocery store. Can’t afford to spend the energy that Walmart extracts from us shoppers... Dollar Tree is small, darkish & never quite the right temp for the season, but it never disappoints-all sorts of beans, lentils & frozen veg...& I’ve never described a trip there as “harrowing.”
You can blame the overly excited door greeter on management for probably calling him a retard or other words of kindness. Happens to me a lot, I’ve learned that management is given through affirmative action and not actual actions so I just laugh at management when they come through my department.

Unless you are a junk food junkie, an occasional purchase and consumption of "less than organic quality" food is acceptable. Moderation is the key. Also, more and more beef and pork feedlots are becoming free-range which reduces the stress on the animal. Another key is to buy quality cuts, but smaller ones. A serving of animal protein should be no more than the size of a deck of cards at any one meal. The best regimen is high fiber cereal for breakfast (if you are one of the few Americans that eat breakfast during he workweek),... a salad w/ tuna for lunch, a small vending snack later (preferably something with dark chocolate...no salty snacks),... then for dinner.... your protein portion with one carb (sweet potato is the best choice) and fresh veggie like broccoli or any pickled veggie (beets / saurkraut) or cooked/steamed spinach/peas/legumes. Later dessert could be a small banana (with dollop of peanut butter) or fruit salad....but eat before 9:00 PM.
I was buying the atailian green beans at Walmart in the can for about a month and then they jacked the price up only on those greedy bastardy so I bought the regular ones instead lol
It’s the same shit as in other grocery stores. We have other grocery stores come through and buy our shit to resell all the time. I had a dude come through and buy 400 dollars worth of bananas and about the 4th time he came through I asked for a picture to prove to my girlfriend that the “banana people” were real. He said he delivers them to other grocery stores in our area.
I got some Walmart Peanut Butter. It is bad enough that they take the peanut oil out and put in cotton seed oil, but I found Cotton in the peanut butter!
Just ignore name brands completely. They are the same quality as off brands, and are frequently even made in the same place from the same ingredients, they are just labeled differently. Infact when there IS a difference, off brands are frequently better tasting and may even be better for you. Name brands are often loaded with salt, high fructose corn syrup, preservatives, hydrogenated fats, dough conditioners, and other dubious additives. These are supposed to make the food better tasting, longer lasting, and more attractive. But they are often addictive (like salt and sweeteners) and are unhealthy to boot. It isn't that off brands are necessarily more healthy (they may or may not be). But rarely are they LESS healthy, and usually they are virtually identical to name brands. That goes especially for single ingredient items like flour, sugar, butter, milk, eggs, honey, oatmeal, rice, beans, salt, spices, etc, etc, etc.

Has to be the ingredients
I know that we should all get all our vites and nutrients from food, but most of the time, I can't afford everything I need to get it all! Does anyone really check their content to be sure we get it all? I think it's easier to just take vitamins. And I believe all stores have pretty much the same ones. If they have it cheaper, guess where I'm going?.
They are talking about their brand vitamins, not name brand. They use cheaper ingredients, most from China. Hope that helps.

It is a stupid video. I am not fond of Walmart but this shit is propaganda.
