Another life changing video. Why is that? It's totally reachable today! If I look at the drawing feeds that have shown up since I began watching you....I see a whole lot of doom and gloom! "Draw these shapes", You're doing this wrong" (click bait), "Drawing Mistakes" (disapproving coy look from content creator) !!! Thanks to you...I'm drawing TODAY! If you don't care that you went back over a line....then neither the hell do I!!! lol!!! I make dots! I can do discreet and not so discreet little helpful dots to fix my tubby cup perspective. It was my other fear, that perspective thing. But now I have an easy to follow plan! How did you know? chuckle!! Bless your heart ! :)
Thanks for this playlist. I've always tried to be "good" at drawing rather than enjoying it. You've helped reset the awful mindset I learned in school, now drawing has become a pleasure I'm actually seeing improvements. Cheers
If ever there was a lightbulb moment! Funny how something so obvious when it’s pointed out to you can make such a difference. Love this series and your demeanour on camera. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. This lesson was a great review, to watch you go through this process. I had pulled out a shoe to draw the other day, as a personal symbol, so this was especially appreciated. I found the tip on perspective helpful- that this process of measuring, comparing, landmarks, with careful observation, can help you achieve perspective drawing, without all the technical drawing issues of perspective. Blessings everyone.
This was very helpful. I like how you demonstrated on something that looks simple but really there were a lot of places where we could go wrong. Thank you for taking the time to do this series. You're.a wonderful teacher. 🙏
This video really blew up my mind!!! I was thinking the same thing - OMG, what’s wrong with my drawings, I follow the lines , it becomes pretty good, but something is wrong - I suck at proportions 🙈I thought I would never understand and learn this thing 😅
Proportion is what prevents you from drawing like they did in medieval times where a a man would stand next to a horse the size of a house cat or for whatever reason, the people on the balcony of a building would appear to be 2 or 3 times larger than the people on ground level. I have also thought about "cheating" with drawing when I have a reference by crossing my eyes and tracing the overlap. I did something similar to this in my youth where I held steady a small flower in my hand, closed one eye to allow me not to get confused with a focal point on paper getting confused with a focal point on the flower. If I remember correctly, I was fairly successful.
@@SketchBookSkool You replying to my comment means alot! Again thank you very much and i will make sure to try to slow it down despite having adhd :D Much love from The Netherlands.
@@SketchBookSkool huh I looked it up. It is a tool also called Scale Dividers. Saw some sets of 5 brass dividers. Look sort of like a compass. There are videos of how to use them. Apparently it's a drafting tool. They have different sizes and shapes
@@recoveringsoul755 yes they come in handy. I usually buy a plastic one for cheap. It helps me get the proportions correct on my vintage car drawings/paintings. It also helps you transfer the image to a canvas if needed. You can enlarge or reduce your reference photo.
But a question…and it’s about the method of measuring. If using a pen to measure my reference point (I’m not talking about the squinty eye method but rather the physical pen-to-shoe method) I’m having a difficult time with accuracy because there is, of course, no specific marked place on the pen. I try holding my finger on the spot but then making a mark is impossible. I’m either making it way too difficult or simply missing something.
Danny, I am not an artist, but I am interested in the editorial/political cartoon arena. I like the way art is combined with commentary in this genre to convey a message. Any advice on how to get started?
I assume while measuring it is important to keep the same distance between pen and eye as well as pen and object? Not that easy 😅 Thank you so much for this lesson, I love this tutorial.
HUMM, what will I measure today. I am loving this series, you have no idea how helpful it has been and I'm not afraid to try to draw anymore.
I'm so glad!
I am loving this Series! Please continue 🥰

There is money to be made with our insecurities but this channel is a breath of fresh air
Those tips were very helpful and it was fun drawing your shoe with you! Thank you, Danny 🥰
Love this series! Thank you Danny, such a great instructor!

Glad you enjoyed it!
That was a clear and useful demo. Thank you Danny.
Glad it was helpful!
The tutorial was a bit fast for me, so I had to pause and catch up at times, but it taught me a lot! Thanks a lot!
Love your blue shoe. Thank you for your very helpful drawing lessons and encouragement.
That is a cute shoe. I realized I had never thought about what sort of shoes he might wear
I’m usually barefoot!
Very helpful, great advice to be going on with as we learn through this course. Thank you 😊
Great stuff! Watching these in conjunction with reading Betty Edwards book.
That made so much sense!..👏🏻👏🏻😊

This video is very helpful! And I appreciated the Wallace and Gromit reference. 😆
This is precisely the issue I've noticed I'm most unhappy with in my own drawings most of the time. Thank you for this!

You could say “eyelet” or “lace hole” to substitute “grommet “. Thanks for the great shoe drawing
tysm! i am so bad at proportions and i really have to work on it.
Just slow down and take your time. It’s all a matter of paying attention. And remember that wonkiness has charm too!

Very helpful thank you
You're welcome!
Love your blue suede shoes. ❤
Great video, thank you😊
Grazie mille...thank you!
you’re the bomb diggity. 🎉😊
Great video. Personally I use a proportional divider. Thanks for sharing this.
Is that a tool?
I’ve never heard of it. Is it better than a pen cap?

Danny, do you ever use grids to plan the size of your objects?
Nope. Just the ol’ eyeballs. And my pen cap.
Question.
Do you always draw in pen and not a pencil and why?

Thank you for this missed out ugh
I wondered why some artists held the pencil up in front of their face.
thank you grandpa!

Good stuff! Im surprised you wear your shoes in the house…thought you were a bare footer for some reason…
I wear shoes. Not pants.

Did you buy new shoes just for this video?🤣
