    This was the absolute best!!!!! On Monday I decided to try and see if I could use my 685 remotely via the 350; this being my first ever try with remote flash. I watched a few videos, read the manual and could only figure out how to connect via "flash trigger". Nothing I did would let me connect via "radio". Thankfully this video came up on my TH-cam and I watched it last night. I haven't tried it yet (as it was almost my bedtime) but I think you have answered every single question that was out of reach the day before. I am not sure if I can donate without having Paypal or Venmo but if I can I will be sending you a much deserved donation. You helped me in this quest immensely! Thanks for your excellent videos.

    Very useful video @Rob Trek. In the frame where you used the V1 on camera for trigger, and TT350 in the umbrella for key, and the AD200 as hair light was then too bright - was that because the TT350 is less powerful than the V1 in umbrella and the TT350 and AD200 both were still set to TTL with 0 flash compensation? Maybe the V1 was closer than the TT350 to the AD200 power?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. Yeah, I think the pre-flash for ttl from the tt350 was much weaker so the camera compensated using the ad200. The tt350 has more than enough power to be the key light in this case. That's why I usually shoot in full manual with flash.

    Great tutorial as always, Rob. Last week I bought a Godox TT350 for my Fuji XT3 & 5. This is useful as I’m no flash photographer but I want to learn and improve.
    I don’t know if you would know? But do you think I could use the little EF-X8 that comes with the XT3 as an on-camera trigger to fire the TT350F off camera?
    Regards from across the pond,
    Dazza. 🇬🇧

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes. If you use the optical trigger built-in to the Godox TT350, it should work. Just note that the optical trigger on the Godox is weak, so it really only works indoors. Watch this video made for my Olympus cameras. You should be able to extrapolate the relevant parts for your fuji. th-cam.com/video/pbBSXxfqUJs/w-d-xo.html

    Hi Rob! Very useful tips. I try V1 with Om1 and flash didn’t fired every time and also didn’t read zoom lens 12-40. Did you get any problems with that? I also try with 860 III same as V1, only one working properly was 685 .Thanks

    Hi Rob, happy new year ! I wonder if you are able to help me. I would like to use my two speedlights in 'ping pong', /sequential firing mode. 1 shot +left flash, next shot + right flash, etc. I guess I would have to use a pair or more like 3 pocketwizards for this, is that correct? Is there another way to do this ? I am using a OM-1. Thank you for the great content.

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't think of any way to automatically do this. You could use a single trigger, then assign one flash to group A and another to group B. Then for each shot, alternate turning group A and B on/off.

    Great video again Rob. Got me thinking, instead of buying a trigger for my TT350, could I just buy a second TT350 to trigger the one I already have? The trigger is almost as much as a TT350!

    Great video Rob. I have a weird question. If I don't need ttl can I put a godox on camera and trigger the flash to fire even if it is meant for another brand of camera?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes but not always. I know my tt350 doesn't work on my Fujfilm, even in manual mode. However, it works on my Nikon in manual. I think some cameras are looking at all 4 pins to determine if a compatible flash is attached. You just have to try and see.

    I'm invested in Canon and so, already bought the "C" version of the TT350. Last night I discovered it will fire from my Olympus ZX-1. I don't think that should be surprising, as cameras use their center pin to trigger speed lights and any other pins for propriatary control/communicaiton. And then just dial the flash up or down on its back panel. There was one oddity however, and that was that the TT350's IR light stayed fully on the whole time.
    It was mainly an experiment, and with some trial and error was able to dial in good exposure in a dark room while controlling ambient with shutter speed etc. So ... why couldn't I use my TT350C as a trigger for other Good/Flashpoint lights, in full manual, but using a non-Canon camera?
    Do you still own any non-Olympus cameras you could try your TT350O on ... given that you have other lights for slaving? (Please don't let my suggestion damage either your TT350 or another camera.)

      Hi. Sorry I took so long to respond. My tt350o died (after 5 years) so I had to try with my other godox flashes. I have the V1 & tt600 on my Sony A7rV. I put the V1o on my camera in TX mode, the tt600 in RX mode. Everything worked fine in full manual. I swapped the V1o and tt600 and tried again. No problems. I'm ordering a new tt350 soon.

    Rob, will the Godox TT350o work with the OM System OM-1?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, except for focus stacking. Also, and this is not unique to Olympus, auto-iso is not reliable. So if you want to use ttl, use a fixed iso 200.

    I have 2 Godox TT685 flashes and an Olympus M5 MkII camera, using the camera flash to make a remote flash pop as you describe, BUT how do you kind of reverse that command so you can hold the remote flash some distance away and make the camera flash (and shutter) respond. I want to try the famous "flambient" technique by popping a flash in the distance to cause the camera flash AND SHUTTER to go off. Probably a dumb question since everybody and their cousins do this in real estate photography etc. I also have the little Godox X1 Trans/Rec if I need that.
    It's been awhile since commenting and I'm so glad you are still making great videos! THANKS

      Yes, it has been a long time! I'm not aware of any way to fire the camera from a flash. Even if there is a way, it's probably more reliable to get a wireless remote shutter.

    How to use tt350 only as a trigger without flash fire

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In transmitter mode, you'll be able to toggle between groups M, A, B, C. Go to M, then push the mode button until there are no numbers next to it and there is a small icon in the top left that looks like a flash symbol with a line crossed through it. That will turn on the tt350 so it only acts as a trigger for off camera flashes.

    • @RobTrek

      Hi, Dick. Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, I don't have an Olympus flash to test this myself. However, when I put the F-LM3 on my camera the "RC" settings do show "FP" (high speed sync) available. So it should work. I just can't confirm it for you directly.
