    25% stalk/prep
    25% hunt
    25%cooking
25% educational about the area and animal

I agree, but most people will not go the lengths of these videos. They do give some ideas to me but for the most part I always do my wild game the same. I keep it simple with burger and steaks, maybe a few roasts. The rest is just icing, I never pay for a processor to cut my game.

@@Thisismycomment. he has a story about his youthful greed getting the better of him, as well as the ancient tradition of "camp meat". One is an admission of guilt, the other is more of a talk about the traditions of some outdoorsmen. Obviously statute of limitations and all apply. I won't spoil the story, the book is a good read, and I think it's very humble of him to include the poaching story the way he does. He admits that nobody, himself included is perfect.

    • @bobsmith-ru7xp
      @bobsmith-ru7xp 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I haven't read the book, but a meat eater like Steve has for sure "poached" wild game before. I've killed game illegally many times myself. Hell, my first deer was with a .308 during bow season. When meat is your concern game laws take a back seat to meat in the freezer.

I'm gonna remember this video in the morning, and it's really gonna take the luster out of my microwaved oatmeal. Love these cooking specials. Seeing the kind of amazing meals you can make with wild game is what has rekindled my interest in hunting. I've never actually killed an animal before, but I hope to change that this spring turkey season. Hopefully I'll get to try out some of the recipes I've seen on this show for myself with my own wild turkey. It's gonna be a long couple of months waiting for opening day.

I'm scared of a moose but If I had a gun my first premonition wouldn't be to run......I am going to shoot truer than ever b/c I know I have 1 shot. Sorry for interrupting . Always fascinated by the width of Steve's outdoorsman interviews from mushrooms to acorns, different hunting dogs, cooking too. I listened to a 2 hours segment on how to call turkeys by pursing your lips....I haven't hunted turkeys even once. Michigan multitasker. My last touchpoint, i haven't had the nerve to try to make a scotch egg bc its crazy to wrap an egg into a sausage but that combines the best of favorites! Keep kicking ass. Steve shot ball bearings outta his mouth to attack his brother and Steve lost.

Poached egg tip: once you get your boil going, turn the temp back so its barely bubbling, stir the water so its swirling around the pan, then crack and drop the egg into the center of the swirl. That helps keep the whites together instead of splitting up.

I liked the last one best. I retired to Thailand so it can never happen now, but I would love to eat this anytime in New Orleans in the French Quarter. With a Dixie beer of course.

I would absolutely pay to join somebody in hunting and preparing meals like this. This guy is going to get me hunting.

super interesting, in the UK when we refer to 'toad in the hole' we are talking about sausages that are cooked inside a giant yorkshire pudding! on a different note, i dont even know what wild game there is in the UK as we did a very 'good' job of getting rid of a lot of it, so we have some very nice landscapes, just nothind big living in them

Easy tip for peeling eggs. Crack shell all around and peel under your water facet. Works great.

It's a wonder your not as big as a barn with what you eat. Enjoy your show. Got your cook book, both hunting butchering cooking books and of the life of an American hunter. Thanks for what you do. Your doing a lot of hunts that I can't do now. Thanks

Damn that corned Elk hash looked really good.
I'll tell you what, he knocked all 4 of those breakfast recipes, out of the park.

Bear bacon looks incredible! Watching Steve eating the elk hash makes me a bit sad and jealous, since I am stuck in a wheelchair and can’t hunt anymore.

Have you tried reaching out to a disabled hunting organization? Hopefully you find some way to be able to get out and do it.
Many states also have special regulations for disabled hunters. In Arizona (my state) disabled or immobilized hunters are able to shoot from a vehicle and even have an "assistant" to recover wounded or downed game.
