Adam, I'm originally from Beaumont, Texas. (bow-mont) This brought back so many memories, so much nostalgia, and I'm a huge fan of Janis. Thank you so much for visiting here. It really makes me miss my family and home town/state.
Thanks for the tribute to Janis Joplin. I immediately thought of her song Piece of My Heart. My mother loved Tex Ritter so the tribute to Tex Ritter brought back fond memories of my mother who has been deceased for many years. Thanks for the wonderful memories!
Thanks, Adam. Loved this video. I lived in that area for 30+ years, so it really brought back memories. I must say though, that Janis was a firebrand and a rebel and not at all appreciated in her home town of Port Arthur. Now that she is a legend, they'll cash in on her fame as much as possible, but when she was alive she was the town pariah. Janis' true home will always be San Francisco, California, where she finally found friends and acceptance,
I grew up in the SE TX area. Actually Groves, which is the neighboring town of Port Arthur, only a few miles apart. My parents when to Thomas Jefferson High School (I believe now it's Memorial HS). They were a little younger than Janis, but my aunt also went to high school there and was a freshman at the same time Janis was a senior, so they technically went to school together. Then shortly after, Janis moved up to where I am now, in Austin TX and she performed a few times at Threadgill's. Then of course the rest is history when she made her way over to San Francisco. "Little Girl Blue" is the latest, great documentary over Janis and her short, but very interesting and impactful life in music history.
Wonderful tribute to the two icons! I'd like to take a second to thank you for your dedication to these vlogs. I have been enjoying them now since day one and look forward to them every morning. You represent us Floridians well! Sincerely... Brian
veromikes Yes it does. This why I love coming to Adam's vlogs. I need to go to the library and donate a few dollars to continuing his journeys like these. Thank U Adam for travels, information, love, and patience.
Loved John Ritter, I met him at a Beatles convention many years ago and he was not one of the guests he was there shopping for collectibles. He was a huge Beatles fan and in his bedroom, on the set of "Threes Company" you can see a painting of the Beatles hanging on the wall and he also starred in Ringo Starr's TV special in 1978. Also on that TV show was Carrie Fisher, Vincent Price, Art Carney, and Angie Dickenson.
I just love seeing these out of the way towns and their history and seeing where movie/rock stars lived. Thanks Adam! I always go to google earth and look at the places your traveling to!
This is so wierd adam! For the last couple days ive been researching and sort of obsessed with woodstock. After that i was interested in what happened with janis and jimi when he died. So the fact that you went to that house yesterday is a real coincidence with me.
Hey, I just found JWWOnTheMove and I am now the 2453rd subscriber! The Artegon Mall Meetup video is awesome. Like a "behind the scenes" video with a great Host.
Thank you Adam, so good to see you everyday!I was trying to guess in which direction you were headed looks like Southwest, I am hoping you will do the Midwest, but I know you don't like the cold. I am really digging all these American towns, you are the present, " Life On the Road" Adventurer!
Thank you for visiting my hometown of Port Arthur, the museum, and the cemetery. My parents and maternal grandparents are buried there, and I have looked for Tex Ritter's grave. I'll have to go on the hunt again some time soon.
Good morning Adam. I am not a Joplin fan(not my type of music) but I truly appreciate all you do. I know that no matter how bad my day may have been; I can watch your vlogs in the evening & they ALWAYS put a smile in my heart. Maybe in 10 years they will invent a way to make a hologram of yourself & we can magically travel along with you.THAT would be SOOO Cool. Happy trails.
Which way ya headed through Texas? West, South, North? If you're headed south along the coast, be sure to explore the area of the lost city of Indianola. Then keep going south, cross the bridge from Corpus to north Padre island and explore the Padre Island national seashore. You can park Marge on the beach, build a campfire and enjoy a night of sea air and warm water. If you're going through Dallas/Fort Worth shoot me a PM, lots of good spots to Vdocument, and a safe spot to park Marge and grab a home cooked meal. If you're head toward Austin, you have to go to Lockhart for 3 of the best BBQ joints in the world. West of Austin is the very scenic town of Marble Falls...
Adam just found your channel and I can’t get enough of it...great job. I am from Nederland, TX right next to port neches and Port Arthur and both sets of my grandparents are buried in oak bluff.
MY GOD Adam, i have housework to do and i cant stop watching your vlogs, trying to catch up love what you do, keep up the good work! your vlogs are addictive!
So much to see on amazing vlog !!!!!!!! Thank you Adam---I enjoy them all --even when you are "just talking"-- you rain pearls of wisdom down upon us--! I understand 100% about your feelings for John Ritter--I miss him SO much---his brother had surgery so the same heart defect would not take his life as well. I admit I cried when he passed and still well up when I watch him---what a loss to us all . He would want us to be happy and not sad......I hope you read this--I know you have so many comments --see you tomorrow--be safe.....Deanna
Great video as always Adam! I found out last year, while doing my genealogy, that Janis is my 10th cousin, aka we share a 10th great grandfather. If anyone is interested in finding out who they're related to, get at me...
Your filming gets more and more beautiful. You have a great Eye for cinematography. I love watching your vlogs. Not only entertaining but beautiful. Thanks for what you do.
Nice to see you in my neck of the woods Adam! I live just a short distance from Port Arthur! There are a lot of spots around this part of the state for you to see. The Spindletop Gusher is just a short distance away in Beaumont. Oh, and by the way. It is pronounced Bo-Mont.
Adam, you are in my neck of the woods! There is so much to discover round these parts!! Look up The Bragg Light Road in Saratoga, Tx. It would be awesome to me and my kids to meet you!
thank you adam lol for the past few years you have been my morning show cause your vids come out early lol keep it up adam we are all rooting for you !
Starting to get a pretty neat little community of commenters/viewers here Adam all brought together by your observations/witty asides. I view your vlogs in the morning when I get up and am eating breakfast. Gets my mind working as I contemplate my day before work. I have watched other vlogs I like Carpetbagger a lot but your freedom and now Large Marge lets you really explore more so. It's nice up here in the summer (Wisconsin) but no need to trek up here now as it is Winter and we are frozen solid! Be safe and see you tomorrow!
Great vlog Adam! I was shocked to see in a documentary (Netflix) that such a talented, compassionate person like Janis was bullied about her looks and often lonely.
Lots of neat stuff in this Vlog! I heard Jimmy Johnson (former coach of the Cowboys) once say that he went to school with Janice. Did not see his name on the school annual.
One day up near Salinas, Good Lord, I let him slip away He's lookin' for that home and I hope he finds it But I'd trade all of my tomorrows for a single yesterday To be holdin' Bobby's body next to mine... Rest in peace, sweet Janis.
Adam, Welcome to the Great State of Texas! Hope you enjoy your time here, and are hoping your are planning a trip/meet-up in Dallas! Be Safe in your travels!
I absolutely love these vlogs you are now doing Adam, I really love the places you go and the things you are showing such as birthplaces and graves of famous people!! Keep up the good work Adam!!!
The artist who built the shell wall also built The Old Mill at a park in Little Rock (where a few scenes from Gone with the Wind were filmed) and he also built the Crystal Shrine Grotto in Memphis. The grotto is beautiful and includes a cave with crystals embedded in the ceiling. Despite being located in a cemetery, it's the location of many prom and wedding pics. Come on down and I'll show you both places Adam! Great vblog!
@adamthewoo, fellow vlogger here from Saratoga tx, birth place of county legend George Jones. Man I've live here just east of Beaumont my whole life and you shed some light on things for me that's for sure! 😎 God Speed brother..
Wow, I was just talking about Tex Ritter yesterday (the same time you visited his grave.) Was telling my co-worker how John makes reference to his dad in the first episode of Three's Company!
Adventures by George I own every episode of Three's Company! He is one of my favorite actors. John Ritter was brilliant, and we lost him way to soon...
Awesome! So do I! And I just discovered that the ENTIRE series is on TH-cam. Get out there and enjoy John Ritter's antics folks. (And do yourself a favor and look up Tex Ritter too!)
I did not know that" Blood on the Saddle" was Tex Ritter's voice in Disney's Country Bear Jamboree. I remember watching that as a teenager and then years later with my own children. Thank you Mr. Woo.
Janis... one of my all time favs.... she rocks on. I'm really glad you did this viddy. (singing) "So take ittttttt, take another little piece of my heart now babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" :~)
It's been a while since I've been up early enough to comment, so I just wanted to say good morning and wish you safe travels, my vicarious friend. I have been enjoying the adventures of Large Marge. We've been working on refurbishing our own much smaller one we actually bought at a garage sale! Hoping to get her on the road this summer for our own adventures!
Good Morning!! 💖Texas and you're basically driving the route I did running my daughter back to League City, Tx. 👍My other fav run is along 59. Lot of great little towns with weird shops and sites. Adam the woo. You must visit Big island Hawaii one day. You will come across so many small towns each with their own churchs etc. Most those little towns people never been outside of their own little towns. Its so cool and Volcano’s Hawaii in winter is amazing. I spent Christmas at Mauna Kea and snowboarded all day then towards the end warmed up at the beach and dipped in the water then hit the hot springs. You would love the adventure there.
I reallllllly love Janis Joplin so this video definitely made me smile! :) You are getting to see SO many amazing places!!! (Mad respect for Tex and John too btw ;)
