    Bharathnatyam translated in English means universal dance and the reason it's said so is because, in the time of kings where there was only lamp and no electricity or TV, artists used to portray a story in the form of Dance in front of kings, ministers and Parliament, it's actually a mind blowing dance because it says humans generally portray only nine mood swings, like happiness, sadness, surprise, rage and such expressions, if you clearly see a bharathnatyam dance, you'll find those mood swings being explained in the dance, it's absolutely amazing that you really would not be able to distinguish 10 mood swing, even this girl tells this host that there is a mood swing already for what she stated

    all the indians who are feeling proud of getting their dance recognised ...plz come out of slave mentality...
    West knowing about our dance should be proud moment for them..not us...
    i see this alot...white ppl reaction on indian films and then there are Lakhs of slave mentality indians feeling proud..wtf...why do you'll need west's recognition???

      Keerti R all the examples u gave is basically a British time legacy we are still carrying.. during British rule society had become hierarchical administratively.
      you see isliye aaj bhi itne loog upsc karna chahte hai, kyu ki power milti hai dusro ke lives ke upar.. irony yeh hai ki at the same time hum vasudhaiv kutumbhakam bol ke khush hote..jabki humare desh ke andhar apni khud ke family mein loog khush nhi hai..
      there is only one reason for these insecurities n slave mentality..
      ie we should never ever forget tat we are still a poor country..only in 2015 we entered lower middle income group country...aur jaha gareebi hai vaha bad character ke loogo ki possibility jyada hai.

    Bharathanatyam is probably the oldest form of dance that exists to this day. It's not just an artform but a lifestyle. Women from all over the world travel to Tamil Nadu, south India, to learn Bharathanatyam. The art form is geared towards giving a woman the perfect feminine form. A firm bosom, toned arms, flat stomach, narrow waist, full hips and tight and toned buttocks, thighs and calves. The men's version is rather interesting too. There are two different versions of male Bharathanatyam; graceful and elegant or butch and aggressive which is more like Thaandavam , the dance of destruction of Lord Shiva. I've actually met people who've lost weight doing Bharathanatyam on a daily basis. I've done it in the 90s and it's not easy. They say it takes up to 3 years to master the art. I feel like doing it all over again. Paired with yoga and meditation, and a healthy lifestyle of course, it could be absolutely brilliant. Perfect for health and well being.

      hi just to add, odissi is the oldest classical dance among all the others in india ^^

    • @sarithajagajith6568
      @sarithajagajith6568 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's not a feminine form. That's more like an imagination form of women. Maybe you need to come to reality. A perfect feminine form is how females look and that is not like how you have mentioned.

    Bharata-Natyam... Bharath = real name of land/country before the British named it India; and Natyam = dance.

    • @devdasrai
      @devdasrai 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Ranga K This is not correct. I am a Bharatanatyam dancer and I can assure you this is not the meaning of Bharatanatyam. Bha= Bhava (emotion) Ra= Ragam (rhythm) Ta= Taalam (Beat) Natyam= Dance.... Bharatanatyam= The dance of emotion and rhythmic beats.

    • @akhl9842
      @akhl9842 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the british did not name it india. that name existed way before

    • @kapilipisara
      @kapilipisara 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Ranga K ...I beg to differ sir..in bharatanaatya, bharata is the name of the sage who propagated the classical dance among the people and he is the pioneer. Shiva's dance is called as 'taanDava nritya' and female equivalent of it which is performed by paarvati is called 'laasya'. Tandukaravi is one among the shiva gaNa who learnt the shiva's dance form and taught that to bharata muni (sage), hence known as 'taanDava nritya'.
