will buy some tomorrow. Here in Belgium normally it is not available in the supermarket. Only once a year. So even here it is scarce. Since they only brew a limited amount to cover cost of living I guess.
Seen couple of crates today in the supermarket. Should have bought but they came in a 4-pack and my problem is that I usually drink them all. What the hell will do tomorrow

Did a comparison video with bluenose and clueless drinker last year he got the box they brought out I think it was the 2015, 16,17,18 in it plus a opener and a beer mat great little experience having them lined up with noticeable differences between them

I always enjoy this one I also have the same glass. It’s always very carbonated I love the funkiness taste, the beer always tastes very different depending on the year on the bottle

Ye either look out for a bottle on the shelf with different dates or buy your own and age 👍🏼

Nice review mate, that one is one of my all time favorites. Especially those that have been aged for around three years. Keep it up!

You gonna have a revisit on these since it's been 3 years?

I will be, watch this space because i have had the aged ones when in Bruges and Ghent, and they are totally different.

    Is Orval considered a dubbel?

Funny, I had this, this afternoon for the first time in maybe 10 years. For me a bit too hoppy/bitter, but not by much. Agree with your comment regading it being a fairly unique Belgium beer as I have not had a particulary hoppy example from there.
This was followed by a Val Dieu Grand Cru which was not in the least bit hoppy, but it was excellent.

Val dieux is on a different level personally, I love a nice Westmalle or Karmeliet, but those are nothing compared to Val dieux, those have such a unique way of taste that i'd personally say it's my fav belgian beer ever.
Then again I'm dutch an havent come close to the real smaller breweries in their country. my country has a lot of beer breweries with my own town hosting one whomes beers are quite nice but arent comparable to either top tripel, ale or even dubbels. our brewerie does have an amazing weizener tho, which i'd even prefer above Franziskaner, which i see as a bench mark.

Another great beer, not my favourite of the trapists but still a great brew. Very english ale like with a bit more abv. Had one last month in Belgium in a remote Belgium restaurant, the best way to enjoy.

I am ageing some of these as they reckon 3 years old is the optimum time to drink this beer.
So in a couple of years we will re-visit this beer and stick it up against a fresh one.

It is important before drinking a beer to ask where it´s from and what´s the history/herritage of the brewery as the hooligans does it. Before i try a new one i allways investigate the story of the beer, so keep on your serious way dear hooligan…this is „the salt“ in the soup, as we say.

Caramel bananas, Bananas Foster in the states. I remember this one being spicy and almost a Ginger flavor. I remember the dry and fizzy but also found a ginger like spicy.
