The reason this anime stands out so much is that in my opinion, Eren is truly "human". He makes severe mistakes, and things actually don't turn out well. Other animes, book series, and movies, the hero makes mistakes, yes, but all is swell. That's not a true human. They always win, while Eren loses sometimes. This is one of the few reasons AOT is a masterpiece.
Absolutely, Eren isn't the typical "Shounen" protagonist, he is one of the most complex characters imo and that's why I love Aot so much 🙏

Eren is the hero and the villain of Shingeki no Kyojin, his evil being represented by the attack on Liberio, where he didn't really seem to care at all for unnecessary casualties, he was fully willing to risk the Survey corps for the invasion as well, which resulted in the death of Sasha. But with the ending of the manga, it shows that it was all for one reason. His friends. Just like Grisha said to a young Eren "You must learn to use this power, to save Mikasa, Armin, and everyone."

This moment is the saddest in the AOT.
Eren has seen too many bad memories of the other side of the wall. He was supposed to be surprised like everyone else for traveling this far outside the wall

yeah this season's gonna end around chapter 116-117, adapting 23-ish (i guess?) chapters, so there could easly be a second part adapting the remaining 23 ;)
one of the many reason's AOT is a masterpiece is bcuz of eren himself, he simply wants freedom and is willing to *quite literally* rumble the world for it. he is a true protagonist in the sense that he is the core of what makes this show special. believe me, at first he seemed like an annoying character that is just gonna keep taking W's because of plot armor but he turned out to have one of, if not, the best character development i have ever seen in media. T A T A K A E .

One of the best characters I've seen until 139
The simplicity of the lofi version with the slight melancholy undertone makes it feel more disappointing and sad, like how eren is feeling in this scene rather then the normal theme that while it's still sad, the chorus part brings images of epic exploration like finding the sea, which is more what armin and everyone else is feeling. I love this version.
I'm a big fan of the original OST but as you wrote it's more of a epic/exploration kind of mood so I tried to make my version a little bit sadder with adding different bass notes and chords to the top line 😌
