Thank goodness your shoes and feet thawed. Stunning landscapes while you thawed. If your camera helps get you through - carry on talking to it, and filming. You are creating a marvelous record for yourself, and sharing your wonderful hikoi with us. A welcome part of my day, to see where and how you are. The smokey fire might do one of two things - the warmth to attract the mice, or the smokiness to shy them away. There is even joy in hard times. Noho haumaru 🙏
Thank you, I do appreciate your comments, they make me smile 😃 Judy and I are back together for the last section and we have some tough days ahead of us. Can’t upload more videos until I get to Colac Bay in 3 days time….
This reminds me of the fourth paragraph of chapter ten of The Hobbit: It was a weary journey, and a quiet and stealthy one. There was no laughter or song or sounds of harps, and the pride and hopes that had stirred in their hearth at the singing of old songs by the lake died away to a plodding gloom. They knew they were drawing near to the end of their journey, and it might be a very horrible end. Clearly your spirits are higher than hobbits going to fight a dragon, but the cold and the wet, can be dispiriting. All the best again for sharing you journey with us.
Oh my goodness frozen shoes. It must have been horribly cold on your feet. I am sure it is wonderful when the sun comes out and you get some warmth. Glad you have a hut with a fire, much better than tenting.
OMG..I have run out of content. iI have been binge watching their journey since cape Reinga. I didn’t realise they were still on the trail or just finished. It is literally a page turner.

Here’s hoping for a triumphant end and no monsters, although on day 161 I record strange noises coming out of the forest!! 😳
