I’m glad black women are taking a bold step. I was in an abusive marriage for 5yrs. I was taking care of the man but was never appropriated. I wanted to move on but was scared of wat society will say. He body shamed me to the point where he said his friends told him I’m ugly.... thanks be to God, when I decided to move on, went back to school to do my undergrad and now i have got a year to finish my masters. I’m a better person now and more empowered.

Emotional abuse is the worse form of abuse u could encounter. I once dated a guy who lived in the uk.The guy knew I was a sheltered all my life and naive .he used me like a remote control to the extent that whenever he came to Ghana i was the one taking care of him and his son cos i worked with an oil company then and even at the age of 21 I was making almost a 100 million old Ghana cedis a month this was about 12 years ago .This guy destroyed me mentally and till date even though am married to an amazing man who has never cheated on me and has been nothing but an angel to me am always looking for the slightest mistake to pin point to him and I attribute this to the emotional abuse this particular guy caused me that has destroyed so much in me that I find it very hard to trust anyone .I pray anyone who is going through this has enough strength to walk away ..I didnt have that strength..he actually left me 3 months to our wedding ..If not for God sending my spouse to marry me and bring me to the states I doubt I would be alive by now..The guy eshun dated is A narcissist..sadly there still many out there

Many woman that go through this and can’t leave because they are emotionally and financially dependent on their abuser. Not many women can come out to share their experiences.
