Thank you so so so much Shawn. I have been procrastinating on designing my pcb and went on with hand soldering, as I could not find a tutorial good enough to assist me through the pcb layout and some teeny tiny details. This is really a good introduction into kicad and let us be able to explore kicad from this on. Thank you again!
Thank you so much Shawn! I made and ordered my first board today, using your videos as guides. Hope it all goes well. These videos were tremendous in explaining everything. I have saved them in a playlist, as I am sure I will need to reference them over time. THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for making this vid and how to check things on the viewer. I did find a component way off in the wilderness that didn't belong there. It was a copy/paste error and didn't realize the component was even there.
Great tutorial! Thank you. I need a mirroed gerber file for milling how can i do that? It must be gerber i tried in the PCBnew window flipping all content than rotaiting it twice. However there is a mirror button in the plot window but it's greyed out for gerber export.
My boards came in from JLCPCB! The only thing I noticed weird. I ordered 1mm boards, but the boards I received are actually 1.6mm. Do we have to consider .6mm or so in tolerances, due to masking, silk-screening, overlays, etc when ordering?
Hi, İ have a problem with footprint i am trying to fix the footprint on the pcb but they are in different places. İ dont know how that i should to fit the footprint into pcb. İ would be very gratefull when u could help me. Thank you very much.
There may be a mistake. In the video, it is indicated to uncheck "Plot footprint values"; however, OSH Park indicates check "Plot footprint values". Regardless, I find the videos very helpful.
You did NOT generate an EXCELLON drill file at 3.21 and instead created a postscript file. You later ask the viewer to open a .drl file which you didn't create. Could you please correct this omission? Thank you.
Good series - and thanks for the clear intro to KiCad! Have to disagree with one thing though: ordering PCBs before you've confirmed your BOM isn't a great idea. Maybe one part isn't available in the package you've designed for and... To say the BOM is something to entertain yourself with while your boards are made is a little blasé. :) Much better to spend a little time ensuring you can actually get the components before committing to a PCB order.
I was about to say the same thing; and JLCPCB gives you 5 for your $2. You have to pay shipping, but the total is still a lot less and the wait time is only about a week.
Tfw you cut the board in half so you can get half price because you’re a college student and can’t afford all dat space. (My “badge” looks more like a big business card)
This series is done so well! Short, precise and a little glimps on where things coming from. I'd like to see more of that.

Once again, great series!
I can't believe I made it this far, thank you so much

If file for copperCAM (cost and time effective )must to have different format ?
I'm stuck on how to do this using KiCAD 5.1
Hello, we have a playlist with updates for KiCad 5. th-cam.com/play/PLEBQazB0HUyQmF4Vf0WEeGAGDH0th3wYf.html
where is "gerbview" on kicad 5.1.9? I cant find it... no info about it on google too...
It's called "View Gerber Files" under "Tools" now. You can also use Ctrl+G.

I don't have soldermasks generated on my vias.
yesterday I had made a PCB layout but today when I try to open that layout I always got blank layout......please help...
when uploaded the drl file...it gives a error: unexpected symbol

Too bad it Kicad doesn't list Mouser! I know it's part of Digi-Key...just say'n.
