I'm convinced that the problem is that bosses are geared exclusively towards massive tribes. Which basically requires on PVP. And colossal tribes are pretty much always full of raging dickheads making life even more difficult for new players. Which means the overpowered large groups are the only ones capable of beating bosses and getting even MORE of an edge in harassing solo players than they already do. Fucking terrible system when you think about it.
Every year me and my friends jump on, spend loads of late night on, get to about the same point and then don’t touch it for a year. Probably have hundreds of hours and never got to the tech stage
It's still a dinosaur game. Literally all the other maps you still have to use dinosaurs all the time. All the new stuff they added to the game gave you a lot more to work twords.

Or just the things you could do. I remember being able to attack people on kapros or bufos, making a dimo swarm to control on a speed quetz, people would run around with a few rexes or spinos to scare everyone. The game was so much better back then

I’ll never forget my first time playing ark. Building a house on the beach and being so afraid to wander to far away from it. Playing on 1x and taking literal hours to be able to tame something. Those were the good ol days

_The Best times of ARK was the time when players could only use rafts for long distance travels, tribes would have sailed around the island to bring their newly tamed dinos back to base or migrating to their new base location and the costal raiders using rafts was a thing._ _I remember when Stone Dino gates, Chitin armour, Plant X & longneck Rifle where the best gear one could have. There was a time when having a bronto was a big title and the battle between a Rex & Spino was the biggest show of the game._ _If you even remember how much attension those Pinguines were getting with their fancy hats._

Taming Rexs on carno and rafting them back to base, walking the boss team to the nearest obelisk, a full team marching into the Tek cave on stegos and Rexs not sure if we'd make it out the other side... It lasted maybe 4-5 weeks on official PVE where people didn't push as hard as the PvP megatribes.

Taming Rexs on carno and rafting them back to base, walking the boss team to the nearest obelisk, a full team marching into the Tek cave on stegos and Rexs not sure if we'd make it out the other side... I miss it being a big deal to bring your tames back to base protecting them or dramatically marching your war party of dinos across the map for a raid. Flying everywhere and throwing out your tames like pokemon kinda changes the entire feel of the game for me in alot of ways. I miss pre cryo pod ark for sure.
The introduction of leedsichthys ruined rafting, in my opinion. I think they should have made it so that only the alpha leed attacks the raft. Would have been very Moby-Dick-esque, being attacked by the "white whale."
You know you can just noy make them and always play like its the old ark . I play on solo and only use them to get my rexs to blue ob everything else i walk to green and red ob since on solo u cant use green or red to do blue @joshhamilton3730

Yes talk more about it tell us more, almost brought tears to my eyes, so many awesome experiences and the journeys with friends and the games journey itself is so good! I remember when we started back then from like day 1 and stuck so much time in it bc it was like a drug for us, we managed to get to beeing the contenders for being the strongest on the server when we got our first rex and everyone was just like what how and wherever we showed up everyone was scared of us and had mad respect, the first time hearing the roar and scaring people in their bases with it because everyone was on the edge everything was new and scary, good times😂

I played all the maps but my favorite is still the island. Just so many memories and the nostalgia and everything. I wish I could experience the game in 2015-2017 again

People don't know what they want and we have proof now with ASA. All the people before said exactly the same thing as you, ASA launched, everyone realized oh crap we actually DO like all the QoL tek stuff and now feel stupid. There is literal mass hysteria about cryopods being put in now, not until extinction. People seem to forget that ark isn't a prehistoric survival game, It's a sci-fi survival game. Obelisks and the literal tek of the ark itself have been in the game since day 1.

There’s 2 different eras of ARK for me. The era before cryopods. And the era after. Era before CP: raids were meticulous, hours and days of planning, getting schedules, making/getting mats Era after cp: spam Dino’s at someone’s gates while they spam Dino’s back.
I just started playing Ark last month and many people said I'm too late and it's a dead game and will regret it. I never regretted once. Lots of people still play it. Played it everyday since. Love the fact that many people shared the same passion as me, playing Ark just for the fun of surviving and simply love taming dinos and creatures, and WAR between tribes. Will start playing ASA as soon as all patches have been added. Probably next year.
Still some Truth in this... As somone with about 8k Hrs in ark.... Its just not the same as it once was... If you know then you just know...This is said becasue the passion and grind is just not what it once was since tech ruined the game

Yep. It would be great if there were servers that didn't let you level past 45 or 50. Keep people away from tek, and limit them to smithies instead of fabricators. Not all servers, just some.

Old ark was the reason I started really playing videos games. Such good memories staying up till 6:30am and going to school at 8 just to think about ark😂

This is why I love Ark. shenanigans, big structures, and the limitless resources all combine into a massive collection of messes and beauty. The old days of ark were not just something, it was an experience.
Man I watched this 20 times and cried every single time. We won't get these days back when we would get home from school to getting raided and calling all the boys on and defending our base all night and sleep for 2 hours and repeat it. Let's just be glad we lived through it. Definitely something we will never forget. 😢
They are rebuilding the game in Unreal engine 5 with a lot of quality of life enhancements and features and may be worth giving a shot when it releases by the end of the year.
My friends and I made battleships in late 2015 on the island, by no means were we an alpha but we ran the oceans and rivers on the island. Our boats were too OP, and we had gates on rivers that people had to pay us to get through and we would come open the gates to allow them to pass. 🤣
@@mylifeaszachhI used to make war ships for my clan designed for storage with a top deck with about 2 catas and a ballista. Good times man, when fleets of war ships were viable. Nothing will ever compare to the first year when everyone was basically on the same ground so everything was viable then.

The memeries of the old day of ark when multiplayer was in the fix and servers had high pop, the attachment you would get with your tames as they were everything and having a rex put the fear of god in the entire server. I remember taking over a entire server for almost a year because no one had the power to take on my army of 17 rexes with lvls upwords of 500 being so powerful that i was able to rage entire wars against several large tribes at a time and always just running down people as a mere solo player. My control over the server was so great that the owner admired my determination as a solo even if most fights were along side my alliances but the feeling to be a god was the greatest thing but now its nothing to have a fea trexes and the lvls of dinos getting as high as 1394 that i have ever seen amongs bases that have so many turrets that even a army of tek stegs with the assistance of mek rocket pods drawing the fire cant get through when it use to be either you were online to defend your base or you were praying that you didn't get raided while offline and to think the owner sent me a video of the entire server unite as one to fight through my few online allies defending my home in a almost 4 hour raid by the entire server just to take out my 17 trexes that ruled the server with a iron claw and it was hart breaking to watch as they got overwhelmed by packs of raptors stegos pts and yet standing strong as my rexes fell one by one leading to the servers victory of the raid until they discovered what was held within my home as i had grown a pack of dire wolves as a last line of defense and to see them destroy the raiders and send them into chaos was amazing tho i did not lose my base and it barely survived i took the loss of it to see the server unite under a common goal.
And in my thousands of hours in ark nothing beats the feeling of taking my first dino Wich was a dodo in single player I lost my mind when I lost those files to corruption because of bugs but I will always remember him R.I.P little fella

I remember joining my first mega after defending against them for a month straight. I stayed with them for 4 years honestly I had some of the most fun in my entire life there. As a man I was able to decompress my work and idk i cried on Ark, ate, slept, laughed, sweated, it was just fun. I miss it

It legitimately makes me depressed, ark was my entire high school experience. I had a duo and all the wipes/ small tribes servers we built on were the most fun part of my life yet. Finding cool base spots, yelling out cus we found a fat raid or good loot, wrecking other players in pvp and getting nice kits, and it’s all over
Those days were the days you didn't need to really worry about anything including being raided... all you needed was a couple turrets and plant x, playing the game then was fun and now its... it's sad
still gives me chills hearing the ark theme music when you start the game. I vividly remember hearing it for the first time in 2015 and instantly knew this game was something special, glad to have experienced it.

I don’t think it killed the game at all. I’m probably one of the few people that is completely indifferent to tech. Like I actually think a lot of the tech stuff is pretty cool, but at the same time I really liked and miss the primitive feel. Especially because now 90% of the og style of actual dinosaurs have become obsolete with newer maps and stuff. I haven’t played ark in a little over a year now so I can’t really say based off very recent times, but last time I played the game was still thriving quite a bit. I personally enjoyed gen2 tbh, but not gen1. Also this statement was made based off pve because pvp in ark is complete dogshit, always has been always will be unless ark 2 changes that.
But that’s not what the game was built on. And just like every other game they go the futuristic route and I simply hate it every game is invaded by tech

Ark was the most fun I have had playing a game as an adult. I remember running the beaches with a group of little kids and we had to beat animals with clubs and sling shots to tame them! What a game Ark started out as. The primitive gameplay with bow and arrows, PTs and Rex’s was the best thing ever. When no one could take gigas 😂 then we started breeding Gigas by floating them in water. Good times man.

I remember when we started back then from like day 1 and stuck so much time in it bc it was like a drug for us, we managed to get to beeing the contenders for being the strongest on the server when we got our first rex and everyone was just like what how and wherever we showed up everyone was scared of us and had mad respect, the first time hearing the roar and scaring people in their bases with it because everyone was on the edge everything was new and scary, good times😂

There’s 2 different eras of ARK for me. The era before cryopods. And the era after.
Era before CP: raids were meticulous, hours and days of planning, getting schedules, making/getting mats
Era after cp: spam Dino’s at someone’s gates while they spam Dino’s back.
I remember we marched dinos all of scorched earth to raid 3 bases on the map… literally like 30 of us walking brontos in a line 😂

I just started playing Ark last month and many people said I'm too late and it's a dead game and will regret it. I never regretted once. Lots of people still play it. Played it everyday since. Love the fact that many people shared the same passion as me, playing Ark just for the fun of surviving and simply love taming dinos and creatures, and WAR between tribes. Will start playing ASA as soon as all patches have been added. Probably next year.

I was basically Poseidon, lord of the ocean on Ragnarok, tamed a small pack of squids and just lived in the ocean forever. Good times.
My friends and I made battleships in late 2015 on the island, by no means were we an alpha but we ran the oceans and rivers on the island. Our boats were too OP, and we had gates on rivers that people had to pay us to get through and we would come open the gates to allow them to pass. 🤣
@@mylifeaszachhI used to make war ships for my clan designed for storage with a top deck with about 2 catas and a ballista. Good times man, when fleets of war ships were viable. Nothing will ever compare to the first year when everyone was basically on the same ground so everything was viable then.

The memeries of the old day of ark when multiplayer was in the fix and servers had high pop, the attachment you would get with your tames as they were everything and having a rex put the fear of god in the entire server. I remember taking over a entire server for almost a year because no one had the power to take on my army of 17 rexes with lvls upwords of 500 being so powerful that i was able to rage entire wars against several large tribes at a time and always just running down people as a mere solo player. My control over the server was so great that the owner admired my determination as a solo even if most fights were along side my alliances but the feeling to be a god was the greatest thing but now its nothing to have a fea trexes and the lvls of dinos getting as high as 1394 that i have ever seen amongs bases that have so many turrets that even a army of tek stegs with the assistance of mek rocket pods drawing the fire cant get through when it use to be either you were online to defend your base or you were praying that you didn't get raided while offline and to think the owner sent me a video of the entire server unite as one to fight through my few online allies defending my home in a almost 4 hour raid by the entire server just to take out my 17 trexes that ruled the server with a iron claw and it was hart breaking to watch as they got overwhelmed by packs of raptors stegos pts and yet standing strong as my rexes fell one by one leading to the servers victory of the raid until they discovered what was held within my home as i had grown a pack of dire wolves as a last line of defense and to see them destroy the raiders and send them into chaos was amazing tho i did not lose my base and it barely survived i took the loss of it to see the server unite under a common goal.
And in my thousands of hours in ark nothing beats the feeling of taking my first dino Wich was a dodo in single player I lost my mind when I lost those files to corruption because of bugs but I will always remember him R.I.P little fella

I don’t think it killed the game at all. I’m probably one of the few people that is completely indifferent to tech. Like I actually think a lot of the tech stuff is pretty cool, but at the same time I really liked and miss the primitive feel. Especially because now 90% of the og style of actual dinosaurs have become obsolete with newer maps and stuff. I haven’t played ark in a little over a year now so I can’t really say based off very recent times, but last time I played the game was still thriving quite a bit.
I personally enjoyed gen2 tbh, but not gen1. Also this statement was made based off pve because pvp in ark is complete dogshit, always has been always will be unless ark 2 changes that.

Ark was the most fun I have had playing a game as an adult. I remember running the beaches with a group of little kids and we had to beat animals with clubs and sling shots to tame them! What a game Ark started out as. The primitive gameplay with bow and arrows, PTs and Rex’s was the best thing ever. When no one could take gigas 😂 then we started breeding Gigas by floating them in water. Good times man.
