Very interesting to realise that some of our leaders knew in the 1980s what most of us still don't know today about our great history

I’ve been teaching myself Kiswahili the last few months, it’s a beautiful language that is extremely easy to learn, I support it becoming the official Continental language. Not at all to say that we disregard all of our other languages, of course speaking in our native tongues at home as we choose, but when dealing with one another, especially in intra-Continental relations, trade and business scenarios, at summits, and etc., to have one de facto African language would benefit Africa greatly. I feel like if we jump so quickly to learn European languages like English, French, or Portuguese, why not embrace an African language of our own in the same way? Much like the single African Currency, it will be a tall order, very difficult to implement for obvious reasons, but it is possible, it is necessary, and most important, it would help unify the Continent. Thanks for sharing!

I agree with you, governments should come together to discuss this and implement on the schooling education. Big up to you for your self teaching.

Swahili is the way to Go for African renaissance., but I suggest the purification of the language from some arabics words replaced by words from other african languages like Haussa, Amharic, Nubian, etc.
Imagine how easier for ex. it could have been for farmers in Congo, for example, to acquire new farming knowledge from farmers from Cross River State in Nigeria, for example.

thank you Panafrican Daily for giving us what we need. amazing that out of all the things he could have discussed, it was Our Indigenous Civilizations and Culture. very important to start our journey towards liberation with an Africentric mindset. not just will and courage. I love seeing the indigenous dwellings and structures in the background. this is nourishment for the diaspora starved of Our Culture. peace Dr. Tatah. asante sana

That's not practical. There are 4 main regions in Africa and each region has a language that is dominant to the people in that area.

Then we can learn the 4 regional language - that would more fortifying. Moreover we should not argue which one to use, we should simply have an logical amd honest consensus and let the result decide.
