I know a lot of you ninjago fans are saying this movie isn't anything like the show, but I actually like that this movie didn't take itself too seriously and just kinda had fun :) so in that sense I separate the two

It's kind of ironic that, in the show, Garmadon is actually a good dad, even with the evil venom bits (S9+ Garmadon doesn't count because he is literally a different person), while Misako (Koko) is a terrible mother who abandoned her child and feels no remorse about it, but the movie completely flips that.

For a few years now I've had this fun theory that the reason the movie is so different from the show is because the shopkeeper from the beginning knows about the show, took the bare character names, and mixed in real elements of his life, using fun battles and action to fill in the rest. CinemaWins pointed out that the Shopkeeper catching a series of flying cups is near identical to the way Lloyd does at the end of the movie, which got me thinking XD

You could almost argue that he's using Lloyd as his past self and Wu as his current self. This could also explain Lloyd's appearance in the first Lego movie, where he appeared as Season 1 Lloyd. Finn was telling that story, so he used a character from a show he liked. Whereas the shopkeeper might be only vaguely familiar with the basic plot elements.
My little sister used to ask me to put this movie on ALL the time, and I can basically recite the whole movie by heart now. All the characters were great, but we can all agree the Garmadon was the best antagonist you could’ve ever had in a lego movie. Period.
As a major fan of the show and someone who knows and is attentive to all the lore, I fckn loved this movie guys I’m not even gonna apologize for it lol. The comedy, animation, music. and the new character personalities were all a refreshing take and was so unserious it was awesome
