    This takes me back 25 years when I was in a busy workshop doing mainly professional video gear servicing. Had many a fun time with these mechanisms!

      Not many people around now who know how to work on this sort of thing. Really hope I never have to do much to a G-Mechanism.

    i watched your video intensely and found your video very clear and easy to understand, using the pages from the manual as inserts to clarify your meanings, you brought up a good point about the dried solder joints, i think it would be awesome, if you could make a video to show your viewers how to locate and identify dried /cracked solder joints, and what to look for, etc, what is the simple process of fixing them, eg: unsolder/re solder? or.. just remelt the existing solder into a new pool, to melt the cracks away , or flux and wick them off, and start over , you mentioned its very common, so that means to me, you have to do it now and again, i would love to see a video on that subject, , 🙂

    Yeah, I've found myself that the home possition of the K mech is in the cassete down possition. That's why when the cassette basket is fully ejected, the arrow on the mode switch appears in a weird place. NV-HS950 rocks! :)

    Ive been looking forward to this video, and was a little surprised of your method of disassembling the mode switch, i thought you had previously cleaned one of these by heating up that plastic layover with a soldering iron (which is how i ended up doing it), but your method seems alot cleaner, just cut the layover plastic,
    and re-epoxy when finished, , spendid!! looking forward to finish watching this, after work this evening, cheers

      Yeah, I ended up using just melted candle wax on that mode switch. I don't need the plastic connection to be sturdy because in time I will surely need to clean the switch again. The wax has been holding for half a year now, so I think I'm safe...

      @@speed_rider362 there is a product in the US called Plasti-zap its a bonding agent to be used between 2 pieces of plastic, works amazing, but i like your idea of the wax, it makes it more removable for future access 🙂

    Hi, excellent video, need some help for the NV HS1000. This is a known issue on Panasonics but I can not remember the fix where the braking strip on the left spindle that tightens the tape when playing is tightening too much so the tape is not playing or forward or rewind. This is the part that has the white fabric holding on to the spindle. Hope you know the part I am talking about.

    • @video99couk
      @video99couk  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's called the back tension band. Sometimes you just need to take off the felt strip and glue it on with Superglue or similar. The trouble is that you will probably have to reset the back tension setting afterwards, for which you should use a special gauge. Without it, you just have to guess a bit.

      @@video99couk Fantastic, exactly that. I recall in the old day to just remove it or oil it so it’s not that firm. It’s not come off it’s just too tight. Where is the adjuster may I ask. Have you done a video on it.

    • @thespecialist786
      @thespecialist786 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you so much, Just finished setting the timing on HS1000. The issue is not only the bank tension band also the Clutch pulls that works in conjunction with all modes. Tightening that is a challenge. I roughed it up it seems better. Shame Can’t buy new ones now.

    Nice work! The G-Deck based machines were so much more notorious with the timings, though some found them easy to work on. Once you knew, you knew I guess!
    Perhaps it might also be worth re-greasing that slide and cam gear just to air on the side of caution, especially if it's unclear what caused the failure in the first place..

    Great video👍Could you make a video how to take apart the k-mechanism and re arrenge it step by step . I have a panasonic sd 25 and sd 200 with the mechanism stuck and not moving and the mechanism motor is functional . I tried moving it manually but it is stuck .

    • @video99couk
      @video99couk  ปีที่แล้ว

      This video does cover most of the disassembly and rebuilding of the K-mechanism. You need to have a look at what happens if you try to rotate the loading motor, see if the main cam turns or if something is jamming it.

    Hey I got a NV-FS200B, so I changed the leaking capacitors on the comb filter module, the problem is that now I’m getting a black screen, I can hear sound, everything works as intended except for he image… idk don’t know if I put a wrong capacitor in the wrong place, like 1uf-50v in the place of one of 3.3uf and 16v. Do you know how I can get a diagram of that board? Or something that I can do to try to fix that

    You have the patience of a saint.
    It would be interesting to know just how long you spend on a repair like this, along with the final edit.
    I'm quite sure this 43 minute video took much much longer to shoot and then import edit and export.
    Do you repair and edit all on the same day if you have a good repair?

    But you didnt give up 😀
    I also thought the mode switch was fauly at the start, i was wrong too.
    Getting the parts in synk is a pain by the looks of it.
    That snapped off plastic rod was a supprise, so lucky you had one 😀.
    I imagine you will clean the head drum and guides then see how well it performs.
    Almost ready for use 😀

    Never had one of those. If it's left mounted, could be aluminium chassis. These are much more reliable. The centre mounts tend to be steel chassis. Very poor. Rust. Construction. Fail. Are you sure that is a k deck. THERE IS AN EMERGENCY TAPE EJECT ON CODE 4 on some super drive.
