  • Here is how I packed my Shark Road mufflers to tone them down a little bit for my style. They sounded amazing before. But this took the edge off for my sensitive ears so I don’t always feel the need for ear plugs when I ride my Harley Davidson Electra Glide.
    The material I used: amzn.to/2Xpd9X7
    12" x 24" x 1" thick sheet of high density Ceramic Packing material
    Fits most all repackable muffler applications
    Unlike fiberglass ceramic is much more dense and durable
    Handles extreme temperatures without breaking down.
    Made in the USA
    Link to the Mufflers I bought on ebay: ebay.to/2RYct9f
    Link to similar ones on Amazon: amzn.to/2zhK33v
    Amazon affiliate link is free for you to use, but gives me a tiny commission to keep getting things for my channel to share! Thank you!

    Thanks for taking the time to post the video. I have 4 inch Shark Roads (HD Electra Std). Been thinking about taking the baffles out.
    I can’t believe the folks who criticize the video bc you didn’t show this or that. Hey, he took the time to make a good video! Don’t be critical. Find the good and praise it - Alex Haley.

    I used wood stove gasket rope (a.k.a "Stove Rope") to wrap my Vance & Hines baffles. It, too, made a great sound.

    Packing mine today.. hope it gets rid of some
    Of the ringing. Mine is a Vance&Hines complete system that was on the Electra Glide when I got her, packing was shot, I’m hoping this will calm things down for my ears.

    I have a set of shark road slip ons with baffles (pretty much the same as you have). I didn’t find them much louder. Just deeper sound.
    Yours are noticeably louder. You don’t have a catalytic converter?

    Are the baffles two and a half inch baffles? I'm sure that at steady speeds of 80-95 mph the Shark Road mufflers with packing on both baffles are VERY deep and loud?

    Great video. But I am not sure why you took off stock for louder pipes but then make them quiet like the originals? I did just wait a couple years to take my stock off to put these mufflers on 1st day I was followed by a cop but not stopped. So I am concerned for future travels.

    • @JohnVHLife
      @JohnVHLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think it’s possible to make them as quiet as the stock ones. I just don’t want my ears ringing after riding it is all.

    What change? The baffles are designed wrong, and the packing too tight.

  • @nfnf8529

    Hi - Could you answer a few questions? What were the before vs after decibel levels? What was the name of the packing material you used; where was it bought? Typically, how long will the packing material last before needing replaced? Your answers will help me decide on whether I should apply similar baffle packing. Tks.

    • @naboru1000
      @naboru1000 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! This type of buffle should be wrapped with fine stainless steel mesh first of fiberglass cloth. It should prevent blowing out.
      Короче, такой тип набивки вылетает в трубу, потому что очень мелкие волокна. Нужно обмотать мелкой сеткой из нержавейки, а потом уже керамическим одеялом.

    If u actually pack them the right way and wrap as much as u can get it there reinforce it with muffler wrap then wrap again with more fiberglass tape it down tight with a roll of masking tape each pipe till its tight then slide em in it will actually give them a much deeper mellow tone instead of that clangy cheap ebay pipe sound u have
