Im 67 yr old Black woman. I had the cassette of "every step u take" by Police back n the day. And I listened to the Faith/P diddy version too. So now Bts is doing a cover. This is not about race (as some like 2 bring up,). Its about a song. And I think that each artist did a good job. And yeah, I'm Army and proud!

I came here to honestly see how they would execute such an iconic song that was dedicated to one of the most legendary rappers the Notorious BIG who lost his life way too soon. This song really has a strong meaning especially for the black culture. And I can honestly say they did a good job.
What’s really great here is you can clearly see none of them are trying hard to outshine the others (which is rare with pop groups) instead they all utilise their voices to best compliment the song and each other and have clearly practised hard to make sure the harmonies are perfect. They’re not selfish they want the group to shine, its refreshing seeing such a big pop group have a healthy relationship with each other.

@@babymine5482 This is the issue, this should be charged to Hybe, the company that manages BTS's career and not to BTS as they are doing, and even if they remove this, there would be several fan channels reposting it, I have already seen this video on unofficial channels, so what would be the point? This about the victims is sad, but what Diddy did will not change the fact that he is very famous and his songs too. The crimes committed by him will not erase that. You want BTS to take down this video in consideration for the victims, but there are thousands of other artists who sing or use this song in some way, who are not being asked to take their videos down. This makes it clear a persecution of BTS, who simply did a cover of a song they liked, without having the slightest idea of the atrocities Diddy committed.

As a fan of them if we acknowledge one member we should atleast acknowledge the other members coz they have put a lot of efforts to perform as well. If only all fans can watch and see their interviews about the mental stress that they feel and have to go through just to please their fans, it's just disturbing that their main vocalist would think that he's not good enough or he's still lacking to be part of BTS now that they are a global superstar & continues to question his talents. i love how they paid homage to the original and said in the bbc radio1 interview that they chose this song because its a tribute to notorious B.I.G whom they are fans of as they are fans of hiphop and even have hiphop origins (their song HipHop Phile pays tribute to the genre and its legends) , and added that they chose to cover this as it is a comfort to many people worldwide basically the same approach to choosing fix you as their first proper cover in years. I have massive respect to them for covering it with so much sincerity and sensitivity and making it sound magnificent .

When my son was still in the ICU, Permission To Dance had a different meaning for us, especially that my son just randomly dances. My husband would play the song in full blast in the car while we look for medical supplies. My son died on July 26. We had the memorial service yesterday. Performances like this showcase how really talented they are. I never cared for them and thought they were just hyped, mostly because of some of their fans, but after I watched their MTV performance, it changed my mind. They’re MAD talented and I’m a fan.

I remember standing in TOWER Records in 1997 and hearing this song play for the first time. We had already lost Eazy and Pac, then Biggie was gone. I came here to give BTS a chance and it's 1997 again and all of us Old Schoolers feel it now just like we did then. Thank you for honoring the legacy of this song.

As someone who grew up listening to these and many other artist, I was a tad bit hesitant at first to give it a listen. Even though I really like and respect BTS, and I know how well they sing, rap and perform, there are certain songs, that are just difficult. There have been many, *many* people that have either done this cover or attempted this cover. Although it sounds like an easy cover, it really isn't an easy cover to do. This song was written in memory of Notorious B.I.G. and dealt/deals with the loosing of a loved one. It's a beautiful song that has helped many. When my children's father died last year, this was the song we played. I would absolutely *LOVE* to hear *BTS* do a cover of Boyz II Men Say Goodbye To Yesterday, End of the Road or On Bended Knee. I would also love to see their rendition of Bone Thugs N Harmony Crossroads (which was written in memory of Eazy-E). Bone Thugs N Harmony was the group that Eazy was producing. Thank you BTS for doing such a wonderful cover and keeping the feel of the song at the same time.

My dad used to play this song when I was a little girl. Now he left us for other woman and I know it's a bad memory whenever I'm listening to this but it hurts so much knowing tannies are the ones who covers this. Now, I've grown up and I lost my mom after my dad left us. This song has really so much many memories and nostalgia. It hurts but i somehow love to listen it.
As I was born in the 90's. I grew up listening to this song. BTS sang it well. I couldn't be prouder to Jimin. He has such a very high and unique voice. I remember when other members, tells that before they debuted Jimin trained so hard. He even slept late like 4 in the morning, and then He will woke up by 6am to go to school. I personally lost 4 people in my life during this pandemic; two poeple passed away due to Covid, our chemistry teacher passed away in an accident and the last person committed suicide. Losing so many closed ones in a span of 1 year is horrible and painful. I hope wherever they are, they are at peace and happy to see me from the heaven. And I am done with mental turmoils, to that extent that I feel that nothing will be alright, I don't have even the courage to cry. Listening to this cover of I'll Be Missing You by BTS tears rolled down. The last part where all the members are singing reminded me of Young Forever Epilogue and 2! 3! heavily. But I'm glad that I didn't get stubborn nor went blind just bcz they're from such environment, and gave them a chance to show themselves & a chance to see them as human being. They're sincerity seems unreal, especially in the era where people love attention too much to the point of faking themselves for others' nods. But the more watching them performing, their Music, and their personalities; everything abt them is just so Genuine. Their consistency proves that, despite of they have many changes of Musical genres & sound, their style stays: They speak and connect with fans through Music, so candidly. I honestly was never a big fan of any artist b4, but BTS connects with me in a whole different level, as they don't just give inspiring Music with Brilliant (Korean) Lyrics, but they also answered that My Faith, what I believe in Arts, is true.. I say that doesn't mean I discredit other Artists who tried to deliver different values. I never meant that way. I believe there are many great Artists out there who inspired many other people in many other ways (the existence of many Legendary Songs, including this one, is the evidence), for sure. Dude!! even in their covers they try to be as sincere and authentic as possible to deliver a genuine performance! and this is shown by how they adapted the lyrics and added the Korean rap parts to convey what they're feeling and the message they want to send which is comfort for their fans and the people who are missing their loved ones because of the pandemic! very thoughtful and very considerate of them to give this song a go and cover it in a way that honors the original all while giving it their unique touch!

I lost my dad almost 3 months ago, due to an accident. My dad was the best man I’ve ever known: loving, strong, compassionate. I’ve thought many times “what a life to take”, he was a pastor, father, grandfather, but he cared for/tried to help anyone who needed him, no matter the cost. I’ve watched this at least 5 times and have cried each time. Maybe there’ll be a day in the future where I won’t cry, but the words will always resonate. As a “dope old person” who grew up in NYC in the 90s listening to Biggie, (I actually remember the day I was told he died, I was in gym class of middle school - not that anyone asked). So I’m very much aware of the importance of this song and what it means not just to hip hop but also the black community. This song will always have a place in my heart and I’m so proud of BTS right now. They did such an amazing job with this cover, you can literally feel the emotion thru the screen. What’s really great here is you can clearly see none of them are trying hard to outshine the others (which is rare with pop groups) instead they all utilise their voices to best compliment the song and each other and have clearly practised hard to make sure the harmonies are perfect. They’re not selfish they want the group to shine, its refreshing seeing such a big pop group have a healthy relationship with each other.

This about the victims is sad, but what Diddy did will not change the fact that he is very famous and his songs too. The crimes committed by him will not erase that. You want BTS to take down this video in consideration for the victims, but there are thousands of other artists who sing or use this song in some way, who are not being asked to take their videos down. This makes it clear a persecution of BTS, who simply did a cover of a song they liked, without having the slightest idea of the atrocities Diddy committed.

i love how they paid homage to the original and said in the bbc radio1 interview that they chose this song because its a tribute to notorious B.I.G whom they are fans of as they are fans of hiphop and even have hiphop origins (their song HipHop Phile pays tribute to the genre and its legends) , and added that they chose to cover this as it is a comfort to many people worldwide basically the same approach to choosing fix you as their first proper cover in years. I have massive respect to them for covering it with so much sincerity and sensitivity and making it sound magnificent .

When my son was still in the ICU, Permission To Dance had a different meaning for us, especially that my son just randomly dances. My husband would play the song in full blast in the car while we look for medical supplies. My son died on July 26. We had the memorial service yesterday. As someone who grew up listening to these and many other artist, I was a tad bit hesitant at first to give it a listen. Even though I really like and respect BTS, and I know how well they sing, rap and perform, there are certain songs, that are just difficult. There have been many, *many* people that have either done this cover or attempted this cover. Although it sounds like an easy cover, it really isn't an easy cover to do. This song was written in memory of Notorious B.I.G. and dealt/deals with the loosing of a loved one. It's a beautiful song that has helped many. When my children's father died last year, this was the song we played. I would absolutely *LOVE* to hear *BTS* do a cover of Boyz II Men Say Goodbye To Yesterday, End of the Road or On Bended Knee. I would also love to see their rendition of Bone Thugs N Harmony Crossroads (which was written in memory of Eazy-E). Bone Thugs N Harmony was the group that Eazy was producing. Thank you BTS for doing such a wonderful cover and keeping the feel of the song at the same time.

As I was born in the 90's. I grew up listening to this song. BTS sang it well. I couldn't be prouder to Jimin. He has such a very high and unique voice. I remember when other members, tells that before they debuted Jimin trained so hard. He even slept late like 4 in the morning, and then He will woke up by 6am to go to school. I personally lost 4 people in my life during this pandemic; two poeple passed away due to Covid, our chemistry teacher passed away in an accident and the last person committed suicide. Losing so many closed ones in a span of 1 year is horrible and painful. I hope wherever they are, they are at peace and happy to see me from the heaven.
And I am done with mental turmoils, to that extent that I feel that nothing will be alright, I don't have even the courage to cry. As I had a resentment with "Manufactured Artist" (I still have), I did reject BTS at first since they're coming from such Music industry. But I'm glad that I didn't get stubborn nor went blind just bcz they're from such environment, and gave them a chance to show themselves & a chance to see them as human being. They're sincerity seems unreal, especially in the era where people love attention too much to the point of faking themselves for others' nods. But the more watching them performing, their Music, and their personalities; everything abt them is just so Genuine. Their consistency proves that, despite of they have many changes of Musical genres & sound, their style stays: They speak and connect with fans through Music, so candidly.
I honestly was never a big fan of any artist b4, but BTS connects with me in a whole different level, as they don't just give inspiring Music with Brilliant (Korean) Lyrics, but they also answered that My Faith, what I believe in Arts, is true..
I say that doesn't mean I discredit other Artists who tried to deliver different values. I never meant that way. I believe there are many great Artists out there who inspired many other people in many other ways (the existence of many Legendary Songs, including this one, is the evidence), for sure. But saying that BTS are just the same with other Artists who did inspiring Music is just dumb. Bcz then they lost their humanity, since every artists are just the same. I lost my dad almost 3 months ago, due to an accident. My dad was the best man I’ve ever known: loving, strong, compassionate. As a “dope old person” who grew up in NYC in the 90s listening to Biggie, (I actually remember the day I was told he died, I was in gym class of middle school - not that anyone asked). So I’m very much aware of the importance of this song and what it means not just to hip hop but also the black community. This song will always have a place in my heart and I’m so proud of BTS right now. They did such an amazing job with this cover, you can literally feel the emotion thru the screen. They paid homage to not just I’ll be missing you but also the original Sting song “every breath you take” while adding their own color to it, I’m blown away. 💜 Proud army over here. 💜
