The only time I've seen Khabib on defense in a grappling exchange. Also Vlasov was in socks.
The level of handfighting and body positioning of vlasov is insane, if you're a wrestler you can see how perfectly he moves and pressures, you cant tell by the video but they are putting a lot of pressure on eachother. Watching the ufc when was the last time you seen khabib not toying with his opponents, khabib is a master of grappling compared to the average mma fighter.

Vlasov is one of the best wrestlers around the whole world, obviously they werent goin at it full power but to even stand with vlasov requires a lot of preparation.

I third that! I did however take martial arts mainly kung fu and tae kwon do. But after becoming a hardcore MMA fan, I now realize how critical it is for combat. All arts go out the window once you hit the ground!

That depends on what you’re gonna be doing with it. Typically Greco Roman guys do better with mma because of the more upright posture and in depth knowledge of clinch work really translates well to mma.
I have done greco roman, and i find it very easy to wrestle mma fighters. Shooting for the legs is very easy to see coming, but they don’t expect you digging for underhooks and bodylocks

Guys khabib is not a good wrestler to compare pro wrestlers , he is just a good wrestler than ufc fights, that's it, it is like a sparring , if roman wants he would take khabib down anytime he wanted , and most of the pro wrestlers would dominate ufc if they got into it but most of them would not, pro wrestlers dont wrestle for money

makes you think - maybe a great approach to self defense is just focus on wrestling, from a young age, BUT with the aim of lasting a lifetime, so being careful re: injuries and training. Accepting the trade offs - you might never be a national champ like that. Then, add filipino arts for stick and knife fighting. Yeah there are still concussions and joint issues in all wrestling, but if you are careful, you could minimize them. For most people this path would be better than MMA, BJJ, striking, or trying to become a D1 champ.

He was toying with Khabib and dude had in socks, while Khabib was barefoot, so grip was immensely different. Notice that he never tried to shoot or wrench Khabib to free himself. It was basically just body clinch hand fighting.

At one point khabib fakes it to which vlasov responded with a faked sprawl. And ima tell you this man, unless you do greco you cant really tell what they're doin, theres a lot of handfighting and bodyweight mechanics in greco that really if you lose a bit of composure you gonna fly, vlasov is a master at countering his opponents and extremely good on the ground. They respect eachother so much tho it is beautiful to see, ofc vlasov is levels above khabib in pure greco but overall wrestling you cant tell theres a huge gap between them since khabib was a sambo world champ.
