Thanks Folks...great video, great help and looking forward to ride it
Thanks Guys... Great content and very helpful for those of us who are doing the 100 this year. Keep it up, hope to see you on the course this year.
You bet!
Beautiful! Thank you! Also great to see a bike on Pathfinder Pros 47mm since that's what I'll be running.
Good luck!
They worked perfectly on the 100 route.
Super helpful video, gentlemen. Thank you! See y’all in a couple weeks!
Can't wait!
"...it's not quite Casey's, but..." YES! Also, thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
Suuuuuuper helpful! This will be my first Unbound, and im in for the 108. Thanks, gentleman!
Good luck!
Awesome. Enjoy.
Thank you two!
You are welcome. It was really a fun reason to get out and ride!
Thank you for the preview.. this is helping a lot of us.. awesome video
Glad it was helpful!
Good work!!!
Thanks!
Great video. Thank you!
You bet!
Great video. Doesn't look too bad. Less worried about it now.
Thanks 👍
There’s about a 3-4 mile section we got very little video of because the road conditions. If you’re doing the 200 or XL the roads are progressively more difficult over those distances.
I love you guys! This is awesome
Thanks for watching!
Loved it!
That was super helpful. You guys are totally awesome. Big thank you for being guinea pigs for the rest of us schmucks. I was surprised by how much "nicer" it looked than what I expected. "Relentless onslaught of rocky goat paths" was a recent description. This doesn't look nearly that bad. Is the 200 route significantly worse or just more of about the same (with maybe a few rough sections thrown in)? Is the 350 route significantly worse, or again, just more of the same kind of thing? I have a choice between my Lauf with 40mm rubber and my Ti adventure bike with 2.2" rubber. The lauf is significantly faster but I was worried the XL course would beat up my tiny 40mm tires.
Both courses 200 & XL get progressively worse. Also, we filmed most of this on iPhones and hand held GoPro. So there’s some roads that were a bit too rough for us to hold onto the bike and the camera at the same time. 200, gets further north and further remote. XL finds every “road” and sends you down it.
Thanks, nice video guys. On my list. I wish they had not made this race a lottery. With all that space you could even do waves of riders and probably accommodate anyone who would like to race.
Hope you can join us some year! The reason is it’s a lottery is the small towns an and even emporia honestly can’t handle the influx of even things like having enough parking spots.
Two Questions, what type tires are you on? What pressure are you running ? Thanks for the nice pre-run video.
Matt was on IRC Boken Doublecross. 700x42. I was on Specialized Pathfinder Pros. 700x47.
Nice preview of the 100, thanks! I guess the 200 and 100 use the same final approach to Emporia? Looks like the same approach used in the South route with the tunnel?
The last 2 miles of the route are the similar to last year. The route is different after highland to commercial.
I believe so
Thanks guys! I’m wondering about my gearing - what do you think the max % grade is that I should be prepared for? I’m doing the 200 and worry about punchy climbs wearing me out on my 1x setup. Thanks!
What chainring and cassette range are you using?
38 up front 9-45 in back. I just ordered a 36 to be safe… or do you think the 38 will be fine?
I rode 42T chainring. 10-44 in the rear. Perfect for me around here.
Thank you for the video. I am also doing the 100 miler and at more ease. How long did this ride take you all?
The 110 miles we rode that day took us just over 8 hours of moving time. Idk what it was with stop time figured in (shooting video, refueling at two gas stations, pulling over for large tractors & emergency vehicles.
what mile marker did you stop to head to that gas station and whats the name of the gas station?
Like mile 53? Its the checkpoint town of Council Grove. There is only like 1 gas station.
Nice! What gearing were you running on the niner?
42x18
nice - 200 recon tomorrow?
🤣
SS gearing?
42x18 that’s my normal training gear around here. For all my other major rides I have gone to 42x19 which would have been perfect for filming this also.
Northern course not nearly as scenic as the southern
Agree to disagree. Both are gorgeous and offer different aspects.
It’s got some beautiful stuff. Just not easy to capture all of it while riding. Especially on the 200 as you get further north there are some amazing views.
Looks like a pretty boring course. I guess it has to be for such a big mass participation event.
Ha.
Gravel riding is absolute cr@p
