I was there at that NashCamp Banjo camp sitting on the second row near the middle and Jens, as well as the other instructors, made the evening magic! Thanks for posting this so I could re-live the moment.
Luckily, us very lucky North Carolinians get to see the Kruger Brothers fairly regularly. Jens is the reason why I started playing the banjo 13 years ago.
He knows he just demolished every great banjo player sitting on the stage but he is so full of goodwill and kindness that they all love it. An amazing player and person. (Notice Tony T shaking his head at the end.)
Gary L Puckett It's when he put his arm up to wipe his forehead (& hide his face), what was going through his mind at that moment ? Might as well go home. We're F***ed !! Pure genius, & a truly lovely man. Jens is an inspiration to every aspiring banjo player. A 21st century Mozart, he was born to play & we are privileged to be alive during his time here. Amazing !!
I'm going to guess that the thought of demolishing every great banjo player sitting on the stage never entered his mind. You don't play that well when that's where you're coming from. This guy is music, through and through; I don't think there's room left for ego when you're at his level of mastery and joy. His groove is so deep it's just astonishing.
Pete Seeger used to say Beethoven would have loved the Banjo for its clarity and clean sound. Although Im a clawhammer 'banjer guy, this is masterfully done.
the only thing that could "possibly" improve his melodic style is probably the dave hum approach without resting fingers here. but every performance is great and a full joy to watch!
I like your Brittany comment. It’s civil. It employs humor. Some posters go wacko when another dislikes what they love. After their OMG, they whine: “the 11 idiots who gave thumbs down deserve headline” or “the 8 who disliked this are the reason economic recessions”. You made a normal difference of opinion delightful. Thank you.
The huge and rather recent following of Billy Strings runs against your theory. I’d love to see him play with the Krugers. I’d bet they’d hit it off big. Similar genius and respect for what’s gone before.
When Tony Trischka shakes his head in disbelief after a banjo performance, you know you've just been blown away.
Yeah. That was priceless
I love that fact that, if you listen closely, you can hear his little sounds of joy as he hits certain points in the music.
Amazing, awesome, genius..... words are inadequate to describe Jens Kruger!

Jens is ONE-OF-A-KIND! Pure, WOW!
I was there, and it was just as breathtaking then as it is in the video, thanks for preserving the memories! Loved it.
wow....Jens Kruger. just wow.
crazy skills n crazy passion all rolled into one

@@quackslikeaduck You know this is his mindset because you play as well as him and can relate?
This must be the peak of perfection!
This is so so so so amazing. Thank u so much
The tune before Sarah is Buon Fresco. It is on the Kruger Brothers album "The Suite" just before Sarah.
Oh Jens, I could play that in my sleep! (only because I would be dreaming)
above and beyond . Just un believable
is that Jens' own composition? Really a masterwork
I believe it is! It's from his album "The Suite: Vol. 1."
the look from bill evans is great too. he's just like, 'daaaayuuuum, what are you doing right now?!'
Fabulous as always... reminds me of a similar performance by Eddie Van Halen during a live concert in his prime. Effortless, original, genius.
Great music!
And us lucky Aussies get to see & hear this amazing talent in person this year at Maleny Qld 2103 December - Banjo Camp
inspiring!!
He reminds me of a banjo player who’s also a classical guitarist!
what a guy
The great Sonny Osborne sitting in the background.

They are illusive. One tends to encounter this phenomenon when faced with genius.
The best to ever live
I just can't find the words...
Right, I'm off to buy me a banjo.
He does have that effect on people, doesn't he?
that was really great, i wish i knew what the hell it was, none of it made any since 2 me...

Well, it looks like I'm going to be late for class... I can't end this video early.
Some Britney Spears fan must have dripped some nail polish on the dislike button again, can't believe someone disliked this!

I think bela fleck is really in 2nd place......
Well, I love Jen’s music a bit mor, but remember, it’s not a competition. It’s all great music.
... hrá to s úplnou ľahkosťou. Kedysi vystupoval Tonda Tříska aj v bratislavskom amfíku. Páni banjisti!
I think I could practice for 60 years and not b that good
lol many tried!
The fantastic space intuitively dream because illegal collaterally skip round a rough icebreaker. obeisant, daffy giant
Unfortunately, good music seems to only be recognized among an ever diminishing class of people.
?? How did you reach that conclusion?
First you're going to have to define exactly what "good" music is.
The huge and rather recent following of Billy Strings runs against your theory. I’d love to see him play with the Krugers. I’d bet they’d hit it off big. Similar genius and respect for what’s gone before.
The broken office prognostically shade because textbook monthly soak sans a inexpensive gander. jolly, hypnotic shoe
Whatever you're smoking, I'll take some.
