Upsetting. I use a relatively cheap Andis electric grooming shaver on my babies. May not look professional but they're comfy. They're my 1st and 2nd dogs ever, I'm in my late 60s. But I watch a lot of your videos, learned basic grooming from them.

What have the owners done to this adorable little munchkin to make him so nervous and skittish and itchy ?- The licking is symptomatic of something else - only he knows.

If you can’t take care of things that are 100% dependent on you-you need to give them to someone else!!! You do not make anything suffer because you’re struggling. That’s like not brushing your kids hair because you’re broke? Grooming is a team effort between owner and groomer. It’s not just the groomers job. These breeds need to have their coat taken care of in between grooms. People treat animals like toys. Not living beings. You don’t get an animal unless you have emergency funds. “Elderly” “money problems” are zero excuse for neglect. That money problem excuse doesn’t work. Most people struggle with money but they don’t neglect the things they’re supposed to take care of. This dog was 100% suffering. 100% pure neglect. The itching? Thats way beyond. This wasn’t a “temporary money struggles” case.
I hate to judge but a brush is $5 and electric clippers are $20 where im at. Not very expensive. That and everyone has family or friends if they cant handle a brush themselves

That dog being so tiny so small but it's cute though it's like he had a sensitive spot on his body when he Taps his foot on the table that's so funny and Google tap tap tap the winter time you hit a certain spot on his butt like it was sensitive or something so cute
Not really. With a fur that matted, he is not able to really scratch his skin for month if not a year. So he is very itchy. And when the fur is matted like that, it pull the skin a little, and a lot of dog feel that like a itch, and it make them scratching involuntarily, like when you scratch the good spot in some dog's belly and they scratch the air.
I find it very relaxing to sit and brush my dogs. This little Maltese is obviously enjoying having this matting gone. Finally free from the fur trap it was in and able to really have a scratch. You are an angel to these matted dogs. He looked so cute in the end. I have noticed there is a high number of Maltese having to be shaved down. Seems like people are wanting a cute fluffy dog, and thinking about coat maintenance.
This is terrible that this Sweetheart has to go through this nightmare .He did not ask this.Many people would like to have it .Why not let him go? to some who will love him? let you take care of who it goes to .i live miles away in Quebec i love love to have him. You do fantastic job ❤
Have you ever tried putting a cone backwards on a dog so they can’t get at you to bite? You can run some wrap through the loops on it also and tie it behind the dogs ears. My vet used to run a dog shelter next to his clinic and his wife did the grooming on them. She used this technique when she got a dog in that wasn’t happy about getting groomed. She sang to them sometimes too.
My heart breaks for that puppy. I wish there were groomers where I live that would do free grooming for people who can’t afford it. I know of 2 Maltese dogs who are in similar condition. 🙏
The dog community is the absolute worst. No one advocates for proper grooming for certain breeds. Money is zero excuse for a dogs coat to be neglected. Groomers shouldn’t have to be draining themselves for free because people are ignorant. Dogs have been domesticated for how many years? And this is the reality for most of them. It’s sickening. You can’t bathe and brush your dog because you have money problems? You don’t bathe or brush your kids hair when your broke? Zero excuses. The “elderly” excuse isn’t any better. If you can’t properly take care of something 100% dependent on you-it’s time to find someone who can.
Are you aware that many aquarists call their goldfish Water Puppies? Goldfish will greet their owners when they walk to their tank, and not just because they expect food. They have tremendously different personalities, they express joy and anxiety, anticipation and fear, they behave differently when they are feeling unwell. They can even learn tricks if you are so inclined. And even smaller fish, down to an inch or less, are sentient being with very different personalities. Guppies are fearless extroverts, you can literally pick them up and take them out of the water, and they just wait in your hand. Even if you do it several times. Corydoras are more introvert, but if you get a school of, say, friendly rasboras as dither fish, suddenly the Corydoras feel safer and will shine. Have you ever tried saying hello to a honey gourami or a pea puffer that just hangs in the water column, looking at you, thinking its little fish thoughts or what it is they do? You can literally connect with these little beings. Unless you're the type to say "If you can't take care of a dog, get a fish"... That is such a sad statement. It's actually quite difficult taking care of fish, if you want to give them a good life. If you want to say something clever, then tell people to get a Tamagotchi or a porcelain cat...
You should not be saying anything. People with dogs like this will not bring it to you free or not. They will be to ashamed to reach out if they hear this. Just groom the dog while educating others about the importance of grooming and cuting the hair is important. You draw more flies to honey.
Brush can be bought at thrift store for few dollars...stop using excuses for neglect...i have a poodle...been in difficult situation with income but i brushed my dog daily and cut her hair with scissors...it didn't look nice but she was without mattind anddogs really don't care how they look aslong they are comfortable. This is just laziness and neglect.
