  • In this video we take you on a walk through the Grand Canyon National Park. Starting on the rim, we’ll hike down to the mighty Colorado River, experiencing the raw power of nature down the South Kaibab Trail, a rugged path that descends into the heart of the canyon.
For most of its 6.5-mile (10KM) length, the South Kaibab Trail follows the top of a ridge, offering unparalleled vistas along the Grand Canyon in both directions. The trail offers unparalleled views of the layered rock formations and the Colorado River below.
With a total descent of 4,820 feet (1.5KM), this trail is not for the faint of heart. Steep switchbacks, rugged terrain, and little shade make it a true hiking adventure.

Unlike any other trail at Grand Canyon National Park, the South Kaibab Trail dramatically holds true to a ridgeline descent. Feel the exhilarating sense of exposure as you walk deeper into the canyon.
Temperatures at the bottom of the Grand Canyon can soar to 110°F (43°C). Stay hydrated, wear sturdy hiking boots, slap on sunscreen, and don’t forget your hat!
Be prepared! There’s no water along the trail until you reach the Colorado River. During summer months, ascending the trail without water sources can be risky, so plan accordingly.
Start your day early to beat the heat (avoid hiking between 10 AM and 2 PM) and witness the sunrise over the canyon walls. The reddest rock you’ve ever seen will come alive as the sun paints the landscape.
Walking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon is a journey that will leave you breathless-both from the views and the physical exertion.
