Simple Polymer Beads: Making Blue Waves

- Welcome to my channel!
Let's make some simple blue wave beads! Well, they look like waves to me, perfect for the beach, summery pieces.
I've added a very quick and easy bead at the end. The tutorial doesn't actually make a bracelet (I did make two of them). I leave what you do with the beads up to you!
Cheers, D

I would love to see how you make the snails 🐌!
I like those as well!
Me too! They are adorable!
The snails and shells look incredible with the beach colours!
Donna, I’m so happy I found you here on YT! I remember watching you on the Carol Duvall Show back in the day. I ended up in the town below hers and would see her at “art institute”gatherings where we were both members.
Aw. I miss Carol. She was one in a million and did so much for all of us. You have good memories of her, me, too..Hugs, D
You just unlocked a special memory for me! I loved that show, what a sweet woman she was.
What a delight to find you on TH-cam at least twenty five years after being introduced to you on the Carol Duvall Show. I now have a great granddaughter who is crafty and loves bling and beads. Until this day, the closest I have come to bead making has been paper bead making. She is around five years old. She is going to LOVE your tutorials!
I want to provide her a way to make beads that can be done solitarily with a forward looking possibility for many years of beauty in her life. You are as diligent in what you do as you were on the show, but! I bet you are enjoying being able to take more than seven minutes for all you show.
Hi Donna. Just had your video pop up when searching something else. I’m glad it did. I enjoyed watching, you are a delight ❤. These beads are gorgeous, love the shell beads!!!! All I kept thinking was how much patience you have lol I need to work on that. Thank you and Going to watch your other videos!! 🙏🏼💕🥳🤗
ALWAYS look forward to Sundays to see what you come up with for all of us, and you NEVER disappoint!!!❤
aww, thanks, T! Hugs, D
What a very beachy tut! Great waves, seashells and even snail shells. And a couple A-ha moments! Thank you!
Loving these dimensional looking beads. Thank you, Donna ❣️ So spoiled by your marvelous tutorials.
And, dear Cynthia, these are a snap to make. Try different colors, try mixing different colors. Woowoo. I'm working on a tassel class with a rainbow top like these beads. I like it! Hugs, D
I just happened to come across this channel and just noticed your last name, wow, I have been using this clay for a while and love it, it’s great to see the Artist who created this lovely line of clay. I appreciate that there isn’t an endless amount of steps to create these beads, they turned out fantastic can’t wait to make some. Thank you for sharing your skills with us and created a wonderful clay.
thank you, pamela! appreciate your kind comments so much.
I love how resourceful you are! Amazing idea to use those silver dots in the x beads!!!
Donna, I just love these beads and the colors you chose. Thank you so much❣️
So glad, Gina! Thanks, kid. Hugs, D
Simple and beautiful as I like. I love them, Donna! Thank you ❤❤❤❤
So glad you like them, kid! They're very tropical, aren't they! Hugs, D
Very beautiful beads 👍🩵👍
Thank you!
Taking that slice out and smushing it together is what my grandma used to do to her cakes so she could steal a piece fresh out of the oven lol
That is THE best idea I have heard possibly in my life. It also gives me serious questions about the people who came up with the idea of sliced bread, what were they hiding, hmmmmm!!
Thanks Donna. These are perfect for my upcoming holiday in Italy!
You have always inspired me! I did polymer clay jewelry, years ago, probably before TH-cam. I loved it and the it sold like crazy. I did everything by 3 books and finally had my aha moment, when it all clicked. I have taken years off, and have been doing epoxy resin projects. However, I recently came across your channel and low and behold, have started my collection of clay and supplies back. I will still do resin, as it is also fascinating. Clay isn't as messy as Epoxy Resin, and I have been wanting to start polymer clay again. You are a top notch artist. I love your tutorials. Thank you.
so glad! welcome back, kid. hugs, d
I was thinking that those bead caps are made up of metal! You totally got me :))
Me toooo!
I love the more twistie explanation made me laugh. Just love your work Donna. Thank you so much for sharing from Australia
You are so welcome! hugs, D
Donna, I really, REALLY love this bead! I can’t wait to make some. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us!
Thank you! Awesome beads, I make something similar but these are easier and have more pop. I'm switching up. And the Sarah Shriver trick is going to save me some brain strain and measuring on several things!
Thank you for such an awesome tutorial. 💙🤗
fantastic, Kathy! Yes, the Sarah trick is a great one! hugs, D
I remember you from years ago when I did a lot of polymer clay. I still have years of Polymer Clay magazine. This brings me back and those are gorgeous!
wow, that's a while back! thanks for commenting! hugs, d
Gorgeous! I'll definitely be making beads with this technique ❤ thank you!
Great video and FANTASTIC beads!! You make it look sooo easy I actually think I could do it! 😂 Well maybe after a dozen or so practice runs. But they are so pretty I really must try. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
You can!!!! 100%! Hugs, D
Oh oh oh gorgeous summer time for our cold winter here.😮😮😮😮😮❤❤❤❤
They are tropical, aren't they? Reminded me of Caribbean waves at sea...hugs, D
I love these Donna!
So glad, Elizabeth! Hugs, D
Love this tutorial. I prefer the smaller sizes and can easily see how to adjust for smaller sizes.
I think the smaller size would be great. I can see strands and strands piled up together! Lots of work but worth it, I think. Now, Amber can I ask a favor, it'd help me if you could subscribe to the channel. it's free but it helps get my tutes around. Thank you so much, Hugs, D
@@DonnaKatoArtI hit subscribe yesterday. I'm sure that I will learn bunches from your tutorials. 😊
Donna, you’re so talented! I could watch you work all day long! 😍
thank you so much! hugs, d
Beautiful beads Donna!
What a wonderful technique. These are beautiful beads. Thank you so much for taking the time to walk us through each step AND explaining why you are doing something in a particular way. Very enjoyable.

Hi Donna,
Your channel looks to be the place where we, myself and my 7yr old daughter, can gain some excellent advice, literally took delivery of a bundle of clays and tools today😊,
Could tell me hiw to gain the effect of 'space' which colours to use etc, I have translucent liquid and mica powders which I would presume would be helpfull, or,
Likewise , could you point me to whre I can find mini tutorials please,
Thanks,
Matt and M
Úžasný nápad je to nádherné 🙈🙈🙈
Gorgeous beads! Thanks for sharing!!♥️ (new subscriber)
Thanks so much!
Hi. These are so beautiful! Are you going to do a tutorial on the snail shells as well? I would love to see how you do that. Thank you
Coming this Sunday!
@@DonnaKatoArt I better keep my skinner blend clean then 😂
I love it sooooo much ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a clever idea! Like em alot!😊
Thank you, Patricia! Hugs, D
Wow! Those are cool! But how did you make the snail shell shape? Do you have a video on how you did it?
Coming soon!
@DonnaKatoArt Thank you, Donna! I'm watching it right now! 😊
Это восхитительно!!
Love these beads!! You should definitely apply your talents to making more beads. You're terrific at it. Just wondering if the snails can be somehow turned into beads. Is it possible to twist both ends of the worm-like form that you start with to make the snail?
Hi Lynn! Yes, these can absolutely be beads with both ends turned! Hugs, D
These are very pretty beads & u explain how to make them so well.
Something that did make me pause is the huge waste of polymer black clay in the middle & it’d up the price to make & then sell.
I’d try using the leftover older ugly mixes of polymer clay (even though they can be used to make great colours) or used older brands I don’t like for the centre.
If u haven’t done a video on saving clay by using other ways & things for the middle it’d be a great idea. No shade meant.
The bead caps are great & uv inspired me to get back to making things…liked & subbed :)
Good advice! I did use scrap clay, though so it wasn’t packaged black, just dark scrap! Cheers, D
magic
Love these. Does it matter which way you roll the brad to make them round? And what brand are you using here? I’m asking because I notice there’s no smudging even though you didn’t put it in the refrigerator or to rest and you’ve been rolling it for some time.
Hi Dorothy, I roll in the most natural for me - right hander. I’m using Kato Polyclay so I don’t need to refrigerate the clay! Cheers!
@@DonnaKatoArtThsnk you for this. I’ve only ever worked with Sculpey and find that it smudges if you handle it too much. Been wanting to try another brand. So I will try the Kato Poly. I love your work very innovative ❤️
Hi , I am a New subscriber from France and I ❤ your work !
Have you heard about sculpey light product ? It could solve the weight problem.
Donna how do you make the snail beads please ?
They’re coming! This Sunday!
Can you make them smaller?
Absolutely. Just roll the cylinder to a smaller diameter! 🙂
When is our next live? What time is it? On what platform? I thought it was today...
😭😭😭😭
Hi Thomasean, There is no live this month. Now, it’s a good idea to check in to the community posts every now and then, that’s where I posted this. I’m just backed up and needed a bit of time to get life back together. There will be a class next week, though. It’s the Lucky Neko cane. Sorry, kid, this will only occasion happen! Hugs, D
❤❤❤❤❤
You sound so Eastern Canadian! I got to ask, where are you from?
hi! i grew up in san jose, california and chicago! cheers, d
@@DonnaKatoArt oh wow. You sound so much like east coast Canada. Especially Nova Scotia.
Beautiful ❤, thank you
thank you!
Fantastical. Everytbhing you create is wonderful. You make it all so "easy" just from the way you explain it all. You have the best teaching voice with added fun & humor. Your dubbed in sound effects are the best.. also when you hum Rawhide. the "yoots" won't get it. LOL.
the youts are missing out! hugs, D
This is one of my favorite bead tutorials!! I really love the snails and shells as well. Thank you, Donna ~
Love all your tutorials
Your beads are always so impactful but you show your process and it seems so doable.
These are AWESOME Donna! ❤
Thank you, John! Hugs, D
I love the Schreiber hack, how clever!
Just in case anyone tries to look her up, it's Sarah Shriver.
Love these.
I honestly would never have figured out how to get the spiral. Thank you soooooo much for sharing.
LOVE THE BLACK AND WHITE AS USUAL 😅
You are the best, John! Yes, the black and white is dramatic. Hugs, D
Hi Donna from NC! This is the first of your videos for me. I just started working with polymer clay and am loving it! Can't wait to try these beautiful beads! ❤❤❤
I used leftover rainbow Skinner blend from your 'Rainbow Stripe Pendant' tutorial to make these today. They're fabulous!
Con cada creación tuya quedo totalmente sorprendida.❤❤❤❤
Love these beads! Thank you for showing us how! Hope to share some of my creations soon!
Those are gorgeous beads ! I so happy you sharing how you make them .😊😍💖
Genial !!!🥰🥰
I think of a inside of a shell ❤ thank you ☺️
Just fantastic. Thank you sooooo much!!!!
I just love your videos. Inspiration
Lovely, as always! Thank you!
I wanted to thank you. I love your tutorials. I made these beads, and I love them.
yay! so glad you made them. barbara! hugs, d
Fantastic. Bravo
loved this video and beads....... thank you for this tutorial Donna ma'am
My pleasure, Rebecca! Hugs, D
Love these. A question if I may. Is there a reasn you can't make the caps out of metallic clay, rather than painting the black clay? I always enjoy your tuts. Thank you
Great question, Rosemary. Really good one, I find that, since the paint is not opaque, the metallic paint shows up more on black than on gold on gold, silver on silver, etc. I think the contrast of the black makes the metals pop. Give it a try and see if you agree! Big hug,s, D
Love them. X
I'm so thrilled this video popped up, I just subscribed and shared the video on Pinterest❤ I had no idea you could use acrylic paint on the clay.
Thank you so much! Very pleased you found me and you enjoyed the tute! Hugs!
Hi, new here and love your beads. Please tell me what the "6 sided marker" you used are called and where one can buy it. Thanks❤
hello! that's my marxit. i invented it and we made it for many years. the cost rose so high we stopped. well, china ripped us off so we stopped. i will look for a place to get the knock off and will post it when i find it. may i ask a favor of you. would you mind subscribing to the channel? it helps spread the tutes and one of my big goals is to attract newbies to the medium. pc is a small part of the market and we do need new people to come into our fold. subscribing to channels you like just expands our reach. thanks in advance! hugs, d
👏👏👏💯💯💯💯❤❤❤👍👍👍
Can someone please tell me what to do in order to post pictures on Donna's Facebook page? Thanks so much 😊
Hi Mary! I believe you just post pix to the member page. You can do that, kid!
Such a great tutorial! Thank you so much for such great information.
thank you, carolann! i am so pleased you like the tutorial. i hope you make lots of beads. now, i have a favor to ask of you, i'm asking everyone today! would you mind subscribing to my channel? it helps me spread my tutes and maybe we get more people interested in pc. it's a goal of mine, more people who love what i love! how abut that. thanks in advance1 hugs, d
How long and at what temp did you bake your 20mm beads? I think these are so cool
Okay, I cured them at 300 for about 20 minutes at that temp which means I set my timer for 30 minutes. My oven is usually cold. You must follow your clay manufacturer's instructions if you don't use Kato! Cheers!
Could you please show us what kind of machin cause it does not to appear in the camera , thank u
Hi! It's an Atlas 150 pasta machine! If you're just starting and don't know if you want to pursue polymer clay, I'd recommend getting an inexpensive machine from Michaels on sale. If you do pursue pc, you'll want a better machine like the Atlas. Hugs, D
😍😍😍
This would be cool in red and white then turn into a candy cane.
D! Your mind is working, kid! Yuppers! Hugs, D

😂😂 Love it!❤
Absolutely Gorgeous ❤️
You left and said you were going to put the Bead Caps on... you came back and said let's put them in the oven... you never said what type of oven... at what temperature... or how long... the next thing I saw was the beads on a sting ..
Now, I'm clueless on how you finished them...
I'm new at this and the beads are so beautiful... I wanted to learn how to make them... but you assumed that all the viewers all ready know how to create them... I don't...
Okay, kid. Now, curing. I should have covered this - I assumed it wasn’t necessary but I should have gone into detail. Place them in a bed if baking soda - just lay them on the powder. Then cure following the manufacturer’s instructions. You can use your home oven, that’s fine. Cheers! D

Thank you so much 🙏
Thank u for yet another fabulous video! I really love the beauty of the water beads but I also am obsessed with the black x beads as well! They r so simple but yet look so intricate! Or I should say that u make them look so simple to achieve! I really appreciate your sharing your experience and expertise with clay with us! Have a wonderful week! ❤
Thank you Donna for another great and informative tutorial. These beads turned out so cute and my two colored skinner blend is currently on my desk and I’m in the process of making your beautiful beads ❤
Thank you, Donna. I love these! Do you have a tutorial to make the snail beads? Lots of love from Zimbabwe.
Coming this weekend! Hugs, D
