This video changed my life. Saw it while hungover, angry, bloated, with a pounding headache in May 2020 during the pandemic lockdowns. Realized that my life needed to change. I was able to immediately cut back and finally about a year ago kicked the habit. This was the video that started my 2-year journey to total sobriety. I owe it all to this guy. He's probably saved several lives and improved thousands of people's quality of life.

What helps me when I’m craving alcohol is to think about how unproductive I will be the following day. Wether you wake up with a hangover or just tired from staying up drinking, any plans you had for the following day are cancelled. I hate wasting a good day because I’m recovering. There is nothing like waking up early, feeling good about yourself with a body full of energy and ready to do things.

@ I know it may sound weird but allow the thought. Sit with the thought. Allow it to make you uncomfortable. Then realize YOU have the power to reject that thought. You have the power to cast out this thought. You can impose YOUR will over this thought. This thought is not your friend. It is enticing you to destroy yourself & the life you want. Imagine if this thought were a person, coming to threaten you & everyone you love. You would stand up, resist, & defend them by any means. View that thought the same way. As it is coming to harm you & your future. Don't run from the thought. The more you run from a thing the more it pursues you. YOU are in control of your thoughts. You have the power. Stand up & stay strong 💪 Victory is yours if you want it. 💚

10 years here. Went from 240 to 200 (I'm 6 ft). BP dropped; I used to take BP meds, and now my BP is typically 120/80. Last May one morning it measured 95/58. I'm 65. Cholesterol dropped. A1C dropped to 5.6. Libido increased. Mood improved. Sleep improved. Wallet fattened. Increased energy. More clarity of thought. Improved social relations. More free time (no booze runs). Lower heart rate. Improved enzyme panel. And as AM said, better memory and immune system.
I never, and I mean NEVER, think about it. It's gone, just like tobacco 20 years ago.

I believed that cider , ciggys, and buds would always be in my life. I have given them all up . Feels good. Lost belly fat. Can breath better. Miss the weed but it had to go. The reason ? Seeing my friends drunk on beer AND spirits and not being able to talk to them any more. They are taken over by bad spirits, really, and don't realize how horrible they are when drunk. Now I don't have any friends but it's worth it.

Still off it all,. going strong. I have always tried to lift people up , myself included. But as I have gotten older I have seen friends just decide to drag everyone and themselves down when things get challenging . That's crap. If you can't face a certain level of truth even about yourself , I think it means you have become an egomaniac out of control. It's self respect, and being able to communicate your feelings and remember what you said that matters. Thanks Rezmo

I used to drink 2-3 bottles of red wine a day with my ex girlfriend. Plus beers on the way home from the pub and drank heavily over the weekend. I so desperately wanted to cut down and I’d tell her all the time that I didn’t want to drink this week but she would just always bring alcohol home with her. And I’d drink it with her because I was weak. I left her last year and it was hard but I stopped drinking from Monday morning to Friday after work. Now it feels really easy, my life is much easier on a day to day basis without alcohol. It’s already at the point that I rarely drink at weekends now either. I’m 38. Drinking is boring really.

@@MrOitoyboy I find your attitude very surprising. Your ex knew you had a problem and still brought alcohol !? Man, drugs like alcohol is a really strong stuff. I don't know what it feels like to not have a hangover. 20 years of daily heavy drinking probably does that. Everything I think and do during the day is reasonable. What I do when I get home makes no logical sense. I know this has harmed my abilities at work and it has isolated me in my personal life, all by my own choices and bad decisions. Saying no more seems very easy, but very hard for me. It's like that blanket your parents gave you when you were young. The blanket is a piece of cloth, but you loved it because it made you feel good and secure. Hard to let go.

Secret functional alcoholic chiming in. I keep falling off that wagon, but I keep trying. I don't know why I even drink. Not depressed, and no major trauma in my life. Just an average guy with a normal life aside from my addiction. It's gotten to the point that I will drive an extra twenty minutes to a different grocery store after work to avoid the judgment of the local cashiers. On the days I do manage to go straight home, I feel quite proud, and healthy. I need to focus on that healthy proud feeling rather than that " warm cozy comfort" one gets after knocking back a few in the evening. Thanks for posting this video. I never did give up alcohol because of Covid 19 and drinking. Drank a bottle of wine or so a day. Developed heart arrhythmia. Cardiologist said zero alcohol. Took me months to get to that point. In May of this year, finally did it. No alcohol. Health is number one. Having the heart beat at double speed is scary. Alcohol effects the body and harms the heart, the organs. Now I am feeling better and getting healthier. My wife also joins me in this effort.

54 days sober here I wouldn’t even consider myself an alcoholic as I only had it once or twice a week but I found I could not enjoy it responsibly and would crave more and it would lead to big binges. That, combined with the negative feelings after I had alcohol and also countless times I had no recollection of the night before were enough to tell myself to stop. It’s just beautiful waking up everyday with a clear head. I wish anyone else who is thinking of given up or already given up all the best in this journey

Made a decision to stop drinking alcohol two days ago. I was using it for pain relief from heart surgery three months ago. Rationalizing that it was ok to drink red wine because it's good for the heart but the addict part of my brain said it was ok to drink a whole bottle then turned into beer and mixed drinks. It happened quickly. That's how tricky alcohol can be. I know I made the right decision because I need to lower inflammation in my body at all cost because I've been very ill and not recovering well from CABG surgery. I wish all of you well and to find peace and harmony in your bodies and lives. ❤️

A lot of truths in this video. I managed to stop for six months straight after being told that I qualified for a 4 week stint in an addiction clinic. All of the benefits mentioned here resonate with my own experiences of stopping drinking. Sadly 6 months in and a random urge caused me to have a session. I now drink daily again, am on meds for gout, and will need to watch this video again as my head is wrecked from last night. I'm definitely beginning to realize that I have to stop as I just can't operate normally with day long hangovers. Thanks for taking the time to produce the video, and good luck all in your road to alcohol cessation.

Some other mental issues have came to the surface since but I'm facing them head on and doing things to resolve them. I applaud you but it’s not an “if I make it through this period” type of thing. It’s a total shift of thought. You must realize there are no benefits to drinking. You must realize that it’s easy not to drink. Until you get to that point it will always be a struggle. I suggest the easy way to stop drinking by Allen Carr. It’s actually a book Kevin recommends. Read it and digest it and you will be free. There will be no doubts. You will be DONE!

I started watching these videos seeing if anyone else has the same problem as I do and knowing I'm not alone. It's been a little pass a month since I had a drink. Right now I'm overwhelmed with life but haven't had a drink even though my mind sometimes tell me otherwise. I live on my own and my neighbor down stairs isn't helping with his daughter and bf and 3 other dogs stating there. They slam there cubbers and doors it's just gotten worse since they been there. So sometimes I feel like drinking to help my axity and before I snap but I haven't. And reading these comments help. And it's only a one bedroom apartment so you can imagine all the sounds I hear. And just other thing's with life. I really don't have anyone to talk to other then my family.
