Ever tried a full melt with perler beads? In this video I go over how to make a 'full melt' perler. I also talk about the difference between a full & a partial melt perler project. I show you everything from the materials you need to the beading & ironing process.

What do you prefer? Full or open melt?
Definitely a partial melt for me. I do appreciate the pixelated look though. It takes a little more management to get the exact look but, I think it's worth it. Plus I use the tape method to spare my boards and the double ironing would be way too much effort.
@geodio Thanks for your response and for checking out the video. ✅ I agree, the partial melt is my preference as well. It does take some practice for the full melt..but it can be a great look for pixels. I tried the tape method and that did not work for me, but I’m glad it works for you. 😀
The super boards seem to do very well with ironing, haven’t had any warp up on me..made about 200 perlers on them. Hopefully they will continue to be in great shape!

The full melt looks much cooler to me but when I tried one I ended up putting a dent in the beads😓. But a partial melt is still awesome, plus I like how they look a bit different depending on how you angle them or from how close/back you are. I made a red panda for work and some people sad it looked like a tiger up close but a red panda from a cross the room😅
I’m a sucker for the full melt. But I will display the uniformed side, it gives the most uniform look without sacrificing durability. Using the tape method, while taking longer prevents blow outs entirely. I do use a traditional iron, albiet it’s a mini craft version. I just never keep my iron still, and I barely put pressure on it with high heat. It’s a bit of a longer process but I like how it turns out.
@@marialiara8359 Thanks for great to hear about your process! Cool to hear about your craft iron. I tried the tape method and for me it was just very frustrating but happy to hear it works for you! It’s definitely something you need for bigger projects.

I have been using mini Artkal/Top Tier beads to make cross-stitching accessories (needleminders and floss drops) and have been using the full melt on the "back side" of my melts to allow for writing and gluing magnets. I like having the unmelted open holes on the good side of my projects. It's trickier to get a full melt with mini bead projects - the minis flatten a lot more. I may have to start melting while my projects are still on my boards - I have been using blue painters tape and poking holes, taking the projects off my boards, and then ironing because of the potential for warping. A friend gave me her set of midi Perler beads because she wasn't going to use them...I am in the process of sorting them into bead organizers, and made a puzzle box lid stand prototype to try out (I am starting a forray into speed puzzling). I have never used any tape with my projects and I think I only warped one board when I first started. I think if you use a good heat press like the circuit mini you won’t warp them. (The real big projects definitely need tape though.)

Hi, well in my opinion, this depends of each person, i like so much both, to be honest I cant decide XD. For me there is not a perfect way to melt the pieces, It depends of each taste. Sometimes I like few melt, sometimes I like more, and sometimes I like totally melt, with no hole. Nice work!!

I love how you display all your bead pieces like they are anime figures. Way cheaper to be nerdy with fuse beads anyway. Mine are all on my wall.
I like partial or full ironing for the flat pieces and not too much ironing for making 3D stuff.
Have you tried the tape method? Beadamonpixels, who does those gargantuan pokemon perler bead pieces does it only on one side and it looks like a digital picture. I want to try that method soon.
Thanks so much for the compliment! It's been a work in progress but constantly evolving and I love the way it's looking now. Yes, much cheaper than expensive figures! Yeah, I've seen lots of people put them straight on the wall, a very cool way to do it.
Tape method... I tried it a few times, but I tend to make smaller perlers and taping each one of those was taking too much time. I think it works best for bigger projects. If I did eventually do bigger projects (like the pokemon ones) I'd definitely try it again.

The cricut mini is great for smaller to medium sized projects. The larger one for bigger projects. I love using both of them and you can’t go wrong with this purchase!! They fuse the beads so evenly and quickly. So very different from the regular iron. Very predictable results every time with a heat press.

Actually, i like to see ethe holes, the beads, the other side of the beads, and the melted part I think lose the pixel aspect.

Do you apply the iron on both sides?
Thanks for your question! I sure do. It adds much more stability to the project. There are people who iron one side and glue it on a canvas ..in that case, it would work fine to iron just one side.
It really depends on your application, but for my purposes, both sides. ✅ Hopefully this helps you!
