Dear Lia, I like your minimalist way of life, and it is very inspiring for me in many ways. Thank you! But there is one thing which got very important for me and in which I am one step further. I am living almost completely without shoes for about half of the year, from somewhen in April to Okctober... I came there after I have loved to go barefeet already as a child, went barefoot even in the city from time to time in my years as a student, and decided to skip shoes more and more a few years ago. I went through experiments like only wearing flipflops for a few months, using more and more minimalist shoes with thin and flexible soles. I also own only a few pair of shoes by now. I did go barefoot more and more again during my daily life. But there still was the wish to go one step further... It was two years ago when after a mostly barefoot summer I brought my remaininig shoes to a friend and tried to live really without shoes for more than a month. I loved it, and I started again next April, this time with only a very minimalist pair of sandals and a pair of mountain boots left, booth of them used not more than about ten times during the next six months. For the winter months my shoe collection now consists of "skinners", something like socks to be worn outdoors, and one pair of warm minimalist shoes with flexible soles. I am trying to expand my barefoot lifestyle further to the winter months. And living barefoot for me is not only the most minimalist concept, it simply feels so good, once you got used to it...
I own two pairs of shoes: flip-flops for spring and summer and sneakers for fall and winter. That's all I need. I do not like shoe shopping and when mine wear out I just replace them with the same ones I already have.
great video! I have a total of 7 pairs (winter boots, black shoes for work during colder weather, casual walking shoe, nude flats, purple flipflops, running shoes and white dressier sandal I can wear at work during the summer) I'm finally happy with my selection. It has taken a long time to find shoes for all seasons and activities I do. Take care from Canada.
i have 4 pairs of shoes. one pair of black sneakers that work both as casual and formal. one pair of white shoes, its like a sporty shoe. one pair of warm boots. and one last pair of converse I almost wore them almost out but I keep them for situations for where shoes get get dirty or when its handy to take that pair. I loved the video :)
Any shoe repair shop should be able to replace the soles on the Birkenstock sandals with Birkenstock sole. Just do it before you wear down the cork anymore. They also sell a cork sealer.. if you take care of them, they can last a lifetime.
Hello, Lia. I know that this video is over a year old, but I can definitely say that replacing worn out shoes with the barefoot minimalist styles is well worth it. I've slowly swapped my regular shoes for barefoot shoes, and I am so happy that I did. Presently (3/20/2021) I own Xero ballet flats (black), Vivobarefoot ballet flats (silver), Xero oxford style (burgundy), Kigo oxford style (red), Xero Z-Trail sandals (black), and Xero winter boots. I want a pair of white trainers for summer, but it's not a need.
Great to see minimal shoes! I have a pair of LL Bean boots that I wear for six months of the year, then I switch to teva sandals for summer, I have a pair of trail running shoes for year round running/ hiking and walking. For nice events, I wear black flats or black boots if it's really snowy. I would love to find one shoe that could serve all of these purposes!
Did you knit your pullover? It's beautiful - looks cozy✨ Also - you can take your Birkenstock sandals to a cobbler & get the soles repaired... try to do it before you wear down the cork🙂
Oh, that is actually something I haven't thought of. I wanted to get new soles for many shoes before (they always had other problems nobody wanted/could fix before they needed a new sole) but it didn't cross my mind to get a new sole for my Birkenstocks ☺ and yes, that pullover is self knitted! I love the color (I think the wool was dyed with onion skins)
I found Birkenstocks came off my feet, I had the slider style. Blowfish is a vegan shoe brand I've had good luck with. Currently I have 10 pairs of shoes but I'd like to reduce that number as they wear out.
Thank you for the recommendation. I will check them out when I need new ones! ☺ that sounds like a gold plan! It took me years to downsize my shoes for the same reason!
I currently have eight pairs of shoes. My Birkenstock sandals are still good to wear after four years. You could get new heels put on yours. With moulded sole shoes like hikers that is not possible.
Hi Lia sehr tolle Birkenstock hast du da xD? finde deine Videos sehr toll habe mal n Abo dagelassen..du trägst du eigentlich gern Sandalen? oder bist du lieber Barfuß? liebe Grüsse
I am swiss (Swiss-German part of the country) but live in Germany. I feel like my accent is different from the typical German one, but I can't really judge since I will never hear my accent as good as other people ☺

I really want to do that! Just need to find a close and good shoe repair shop! ☺

Hi there! Are those boots from Lems? How did you buy them 2nd hand?

I will certainly try to get new soles for them for this summer! Because other than that I think they could last me another three to five years! ☺
@@ecofriendlia I'm sure they will!
What is the brand of the first shoe??
They look like Lems Boulder boots to me
If you're trying to be more sustainable you could always send your Birkenstocks off to be repaired :)
I will definitly try to do that 😊
I have 3 pairs of shoes :) +1 military combat boots for my job lol
How do you do your bun?
