Listen to RIDE old and new, same with Slowdive as they are the begining. Also Cocteau Twins and My Bloody Valentine. Then check out some Kitchens of Distinction and maybe some Airiel, Bethany Curve, Lush, Catherine Wheel. You can go to the 70’s and listen to ambient stuff like Popul Vuh, Tangerine Dream and especially Music for Airports by Brian Eno then you got your post 2K bands like M83, Ringo Deathstar, A Place to Bury Strangers, Ulrich Schnauss, No Joy, Diiv - Oshin, Autolux

Tried this on my MS50G, which doesn’t have the same compressor, and it doesn’t sound anywhere near as good. Mind you, nor do most other patches and pedals I listen to on TH-cam 😖
It should sounds good even with another compressor if you keep similar parameters... But if it is happening with most of the patches and pedals you have tried I would check the amp or the guitar's pickups...
Ok, thanks. I swapped from a Katana 50 to a Line 6 Catalyst 60 to get an FX loop and because the Katana sounded weak compared to TH-cam videos. I have an SX Vintage Strat that cost £180 new. I am also new to playing a guitar. I will see if someone experienced can try my guitar instead of theirs.
Yes... check your guitar. The Katana is a great amp so if you found it weak something is wrong. SX is a nice guitar but with bad pickups... if you upgrade them and pay a luthier to set your guitar you will feel the difference @@mickpoil6362
