Anyone realize that Dipper could've won quite easily if he had kept attacking after his initial uppercut by exploiting the game mechanic? Rumble is still heavily restricted by the rules of the game and his own limited animations while Dipper functions on real life physics. Doesn't matter how weak the hit is, anything that so much as brushes Rumble would cause a stun. Dipper could've stunlocked his way to victory.

Dipper could've used his wits to Rumble down by tricking him into slamming into things or tripping him off a cliff or lure him into a lair of a huge monster to finish him off.

From my limited understanding, Rumble and one later character were sprites by the great Paul Robertson. He also did the spritework for Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World: The Movie: The Game.

Fun Fact: When Rumble front kicks Dipper at 1:26, the health bar doesn’t show Dipper how much health he lost in terms of percentage, but when Dipper uppercuts Rumble at 1:44, the health bar showed him that Rumble lost (in terms of percentage) 0.5% of his health. This proves the fight’s trolling Dipper by showing him how weak his attacks are in terms of percentage.

To be fair, the uppercut dipper threw had a pretty fair amount of damage, mostly because you would usually combo that with other moves. So technically speaking, Dipper can muster up the physical power of a fighting game character.
At that scene when Dipper punched Rumble McSkirmish, he fell down. In a second later he got back up and continued fighting. But, in that same minute he fell down and couldn't get up...
And don't forget he looked up when he punched him

It's all different perspectives. When he got punched, he was knocked down and put in a fall animation. Later on, he's not lying down, he's standing upright along the floor. Very different for a 2-D character.

the way Rumble moved AND looked (with the dither pixel shading) always intrigued me before I knew what the concept of animation was!

While Dipper may be a low tier character on the fight fighter roster, low damage and reach with no ranged attacks, he still could have pulled out a win here with enough skill and taking advantage of his infinite combo exploit.
I feel bad for Dipper. Either hes made fun of,or gets shamed. But ever since he visited the mindscape,he has evolved. (This takes place before bill)
I'm not a fan of Gravity Falls, I barely watch the show, but when I was with my little cousin watching this episode, I lost all my shit (1:57 moment was the best).
I'm a diehard fan of Steet Fighter and 90's fighting games as a whole. Every reference to those games were HILIAROUS.
