Well You can keep it in a separate room and just have a Super long Display port and a Cable for usb hub and you can Game with extreme fps gain in silence
it actually makes sense on youtube. the compressing makes it so you get 1080p high quality video when selecting 4k, since youtube bitrates are: 1080p = 12mbits 2160p = 68mbits And high quality 1080p is at least 50 mbits. So 4k on youtube is 1080p (quality wise)
4:06 Alex and Linus might already know this, but for anyone wondering: The wood glue is much, MUCH stronger than the screws, especially with how the screws are attached in the video. Screws are typically used in woodworking to keep a project stable _while the wood glue is setting_ and are removed afterward so the area can be cleaned up. They are a substitute for clamps when clamps can't be used effectively, they can be left in place as a kind of "security blanket" but don't really do anything, not effectively at least. Steve Ramsey has a great video on this if you want to see it for yourself: th-cam.com/video/Esvb64fUQ10/w-d-xo.html If a project is glued properly, failure often occurs along the wood grain, NOT where the glue meets the wood. That is, it's the wood itself that will fail before the glue could fail. A way of understanding this might be to imagine welding. You have one set of metal parts held together with screws. You have a second set of metal parts held together by welding. Which method is stronger? The welded one. This is because of the _type of material_ used for the application. Conversely, if you were to try and weld two pieces of plastic or wood together with a welding torch, they would just melt or burn. For plastic, two screws would the plastic together more securely than general glue because plastic doesn't absorb glue as effectively as wood does. For wood material, _wood glue_ holds two pieces of wood together far, FAR more securely than screws because of the characteristics of how wood pores absorb the glue. The only exception I can think of might be if you had the joint where wood was glued together is exposed to an environment that made the glue fail. It depends on the sort of glue, but I would imagine heat could be(?) a factor; water might be another problem, but the wood would be in more trouble from the heat or water than the glue itself. The material being held together would be warping and moving, giving you much bigger problems to worry about.
@@merritt2014 2 reasons. 1st if you use open air gpu, the air from gpu fans will be useless due to high pressure coming from the big ones. So it would be the same as not having gpu fans at all and only completely relying on the big ones. 2nd if you use blower type, the air pushed by the big fans will have a small impact on cooling the gpu itself because it's closed therefore the air has to go inside the fan/blower in order to cool the gpu. It's for this exact reasons why they didn't bother putting the fans on the cpu cooler.
@@Misaki11111 im a bit late. but it's actually much simpler than that. since this video is sponsored, they asked linus to use a blower style card, since that's the one that most customers can relate to
It would need a 100 kVA diesel generator (us$7000), 1 ton of air 3.5kw 24h/24h = $23.50X28.5 to kVA = us$670/month + it would destroys the computer fans + wreck connectors of cards, just miliseconds before the whole computer case explodes ending up freezing the rest, would be cool to watch. That is If an aircraft turbine consumes only 100kVA which I doubt. Might end up been 7000/month.
You need to use a jet engine compressor (jet engines consist of three parts: the compressor, the chamber and the turbine), but you'll need a hefty motor to spin it up to 120000rpm or more

Aidan Knoll GO LEXINGTON!!!!
It really does...
I have seen that fan brand before at the big ass fans on the roof of an ikea warehouse
Aidan Knoll my uncle has one!
4:23 screwing the Cooler master 500p.
thanks so much i haven't built a pc before and i was wondering about keeping it cool. I haven't found any videos on how powerful fans need to be. this was rlly informational.

Imagine the amount of dust this thing will catch.
Romeo Ramone Positive pressure actually tends to help against dust build up
All that airflow would keep dust from settling
that airflow help you cleaning the room too
the main issue is that if dust does manage to get sucked in it would basically turn it into a sandblaster

NOVEMBER 25TH, 2008.
LOGICAL DECISIONS ARE REMOVED FROM
VIDEO PLANNING. LINUS BEGINS
TO UNLEARN AT A GEOMETRIC PACE.
HE BECOMES SELF-AWARE OCTOBER 17 2017 AT 6:26 P.M.
I love how since the noise floor is 90dB, the only way for the mic to pick up linus is for him to scream into clipping.
"These are all great questions, that I want to know the answer to aswell" 5:20
Legendary.
Absolutely insane the noise alone would prevent me from even daring to attempt this monstrosity.
"AND YOU CONVINCE YOURSELF EVERY NIGHT, THAT SILENCE IS A NECESSARY SACRIFICE!"
@lifeofboris
Well You can keep it in a separate room and just have a Super long Display port and a Cable for usb hub and you can Game with extreme fps gain in silence

And this should be funny or what?
MrBaracu nah coz my internet biotches
it actually makes sense on youtube. the compressing makes it so you get 1080p high quality video when selecting 4k, since youtube bitrates are:
1080p = 12mbits
2160p = 68mbits
And high quality 1080p is at least 50 mbits.
So 4k on youtube is 1080p (quality wise)
ニルス yo internet is gonna be nuked though
4:06 Alex and Linus might already know this, but for anyone wondering: The wood glue is much, MUCH stronger than the screws, especially with how the screws are attached in the video. Screws are typically used in woodworking to keep a project stable _while the wood glue is setting_ and are removed afterward so the area can be cleaned up. They are a substitute for clamps when clamps can't be used effectively, they can be left in place as a kind of "security blanket" but don't really do anything, not effectively at least.
Steve Ramsey has a great video on this if you want to see it for yourself: th-cam.com/video/Esvb64fUQ10/w-d-xo.html
If a project is glued properly, failure often occurs along the wood grain, NOT where the glue meets the wood.
I don't like reading
Thanks, just learned a neat thing.
short version: wood glue better than screws
I didn't read it cause I don't like building wood
So maybe this could cool all the ram I’ve downloaded recently?
Keegan DoesStuff What about the GTX 1080Ti I downloaded from the Pirate Bay?
Well... U don't dowload ram. U install them.
wow is it like that really? i was thought we were downloading them.
Gabrielle Dela Cruz /r/whooosh
Murat Çüçen U install ram on your motherboard. The more of them, the faster your build will be.

Oh jeez 🙄

Haha yes
“High airflow” you’re legit using a blower design graphics card
Lmao that's the first thing I noticed too. Why in god's name would you use a blower GPU in a insane airflow PC case project? Lol.
@@Misaki11111 also didn't they say they used a blower because the warm air gets pushed through the back?
@@Misaki11111 im a bit late. but it's actually much simpler than that. since this video is sponsored, they asked linus to use a blower style card, since that's the one that most customers can relate to
I wonder what effect the wind pressure has on the longevity of parts, particularly the other fans in the case. I can't imagine it's great for them.
Such an amateur, next use aircraft turbine.
Umm, that would be counter active, as those put out heat. Couldn't even do that as a PC build theme for MSIs Afterburner software.
You need to use a jet engine compressor (jet engines consist of three parts: the compressor, the chamber and the turbine), but you'll need a hefty motor to spin it up to 120000rpm or more
tfw everyone takes the obvious joke seriously
He means put the intake in the pc to create a vacume not put the jet exhaust in the pc its not to hard to figure out
Awsome! Their production values are getting higher and higher.
What’s the point of a CPU cooler at that point
yeah it probably slows the CPU cooling :)
@@popkorn256 please explain how it "slows" the cpu cooling.
Probably because the rams are blocking the aur pathway before it reaches the CPU
Generate electricity
I would just leave passive tower there, fan is only to block airflow,...
Do more of this sort of stuff. Please?
Why didn't you try overclocking it? It would have been interesting to see how far you can push it.
UP
Followup needed.
definetly
Yeah, I was surprised they didn't try overclocking.. They also need to try blowing the air through watercooling radiators.
Being that they had no idea what would happen once the fans were hooked up to the case I can see why they did what they did.
"How to get a SMALL AMOUNT of positive air pressure"

why RIP watercooling? A half-way decent watercooling still needs less power, emitts less noise and is just much cooler*.
