You can't hear it in some songs because she hides it well or it isnt actually there. But in some songs, like When I Was Older, its *supposed* to be there. She *wants* us to hear the autotune. Many of them also looked very bored while singing, not really giving it their best, like in a studio environment, where they could get multiple takes on the same bar. One might guess that the voice is kinda organic and inherently undergoes natural changes over the time of day and physical health. Shocking! But yeah some were *very* apparent in their tuning.
Some of these aren’t “auto tuned” in music production there’s plugins and various ways to create a “chorus effect” which still uses your true voice, but makes it sound like there’s 5 of you singing it which gives it a larger feel. Then to that you add a good reverb plugin and it will hide a lot of missed notes. So that’s why some still sound good raw, but also how the ones who aren’t as good can sound damn good in the mix
i think the think i find really cool is that ow talented some of the autotune ppl are bc autotune isn't the robotic thing its a subtle change in how the singer accompanies the beat and the pitch is slightly changed idk i just find that cool
