    I love how you give a lot of info regarding rock and metal places in Oslo. And your sense of humor is absolute gold.
    Tusen takk for this video! Can't wait to be there next month.

      Thank you! I'm glad you liked the video. Keep in mind that some of these places have moved to new locations since I made this video. You can always find their current location on Google Maps. And there is at least one new venue that has opened: g.page/Vaterland_oslo

      @@OsloProJonas Yeah, I could imagine that many things have changed in the meantime, but the video gave me anyways some useful info about the overall structure of the city and it will help me to choose the right hotel to stay at. Sadly I will be there just for one day, after my Lofoten trip, and I will spend most of the day at Spektrum for a concert...but, since I managed to drag my parents into this trip, and they are not coming to the concert, I want to give them as much info as possible about Oslo sightseeing. Tusen takk for verdifulle råd, Jonas!

    I was there just yesterday, I walk most of the Karl Johans gate, and I sit to rest out of the Kings palace. It looks very different as when I lived here, there are more modern buildings.

    • @OsloProJonas
      @OsloProJonas  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      September is usually nice in Oslo. Fall has just started, but it won't be too cold. Weather is usually dry, but it can be a bit windy. I also like August through October in Oslo because then everybody is back from vacation, all the students are back, and there's a lot going on in the city. If you go out a Friday or Saturday evening, everywhere is gonna be packed.

      Hi Oslopro, I'm going to Oslo next week. What would you recommend as a good day trip out of the city? I'm keen to see some nature and mountains.

    • @OsloProJonas
      @OsloProJonas  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      To the north of Oslo is a vast forest called Nordmarka. It is accessible many places by public transportation.
      I haven't been there myself, but a popular destination is Kikut, which is the highest point in Nordmarka, it literarly means "lookout". There is a restaurant and the possibility for lodging there as well, see www.kikutstua.no. The shortest way to Kikut is to take the bus to Sørkedalen and walk from there. Another route is to take bus 51 to Skar in Maridalen, and go from there. Google map knows the way to "Kikustua" :)
      There are so many places to go in Nordmarka, and I don't even know half of them. Maybe you can get some help from the Norwegian Trekking Association website: english.dnt.no

    I am intersting about Rock in. but there is not have website. is there having a live performance of heavy metal?

    • @OsloProJonas
      @OsloProJonas  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Their website is www.rockinoslo.com, and it seems there are no scheduled concerts, but it's not a typical concert place. Another metal venue you may want to check out is Kniven (The Knife). Most metal bands however play at venues in Oslo like Revolver, Mono, Gamla, Centrum Scene, John Dee or Rockefeller. The last three are strictly concert places. Check www.ticketmaster.no for larger bands which have to be pre-booked. Check www.underskog.no/kalender/ for less famous bands where tickets are sold at the door.

    Hi! How long did you have to walk from the beginning of the street up to the Royal Palace?

    • @OsloProJonas
      @OsloProJonas  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will take you 15-20 minutes to walk the length of Karl Johan, but you should set aside 2-4 hours if you want to see anything. I think I used 3-4 hours, but I wasn't in any hurry.

    • @OsloProJonas

      In particular older gentlemen from Northern Norway. I don't know why this place appeals so much to them. Maybe just because it's a classic pub in the middle of Karl Johan.

      Norway has shit cuisine. You can find decent places in Oslo but what those places serve is not exactly ”Norwegian food”. The average Joe basically lives on boring sandwiches with brown cheese and frozen pizza. Maybe i’m wrong but this is the impression i got during my few short stays.
