I see a lot questions about hauling for the Dept of Defense. First and foremost, you will have to be A) Dept of Defense approved Vendor (2021 National Defense Utilization Act) B) Be cleared by SAM for validation and verification C) Have a SECRET Clearance (All contracts are considered Secret level clearance required, so to even bid you must have a clearance to see what is available) And last but not least, you must have your DOT and MC Authority. There are ways to get on contract with a Prime Vendor and you will still be required to meet all the other standards and requirements. Also, a tip if you will; You will need to have a clean criminal record (no felonies or convictions) you will need excellent credit (definitely make sure you don't have any open collections, owe the government money and open bankruptcy or foreclosures) and it helps if your are a Veteran or retired military member. Good Luck!! P.S. We are a CAGE with SAM approval, a SDVOSB on DoD contract for freight and shipping.

Great video! We have a few questions.
    1. Your video mentions that “drivers” must pass background check. Does this apply to “non-driving” company owners as well or only the drivers? If so, does it apply to every shareholder/owner or just one shareholder/owner that would be the POC for the DOD?
    2. Are there any protections in place/allowed for drivers (escorts/body armor). I’m almost certain civilians can’t carry firearms on government bases but does that apply to body armor as well? I think it’d be important for our company to notify drivers we hire of any risk if any.
Thanks for all your help. I’ll be looking into the resources you mentioned as well!
