- One of the big surprises of Bean's last morning on KROQ was an unexpected call from Jim "Poorman" Trenton, a former KROQ on-air host and co-creator of "Loveline". Much of the surprise came from the fact that Poorman and Bean have a complicated history - Poorman was let go from his position on KROQ after orchestrating a prank in which he brought hundreds of listeners to Bean's house in the middle of the night. The incident resulted in chaos and forced Bean to move out of that home. Watch the interview to see the contentious discussion about what went down all those years ago.

Poorman made the show loveline we all know it. No one would even know Dr. Drew or Adam if weren't for the poorman starting up the show. He brought out laughter along with truths others could not dig up from their listeners. With his light hearted responses he was able to get people to talk about serious concerns. No one else to date in our society came close to revealing these sexual/love concerns of our younger generation. They had to bring in Dr. Drew for the clinical and potential legal problems of giving out medical advice from poorman. During the last show of Kevin & Bean you see the arrogance of the opportunist. The followers. Adam's smug remark with no gratitude for his opportunity to jump on the coattails of the ten years of talent on the show. Who wouldn't be irritated. I hope for everyone to obtain peace & success. Kroq needed to bring the rigid filtered second string in to cover what was left of loveline after poorman left. Kroq couldn't deal with the heat of freedom of speech with all the success it brought them.

Poorman was perfect for KROQ when it was a small fledgling radio station. He did his thing, having fun with the listeners. No man was ever more perfect for this, or LA because he genuinely wanted to. As it grew and became more corporate weird things like Bean not even being in LA to host a radio show happened. He didn't want to be in LA or even chance seeing a listener. WTF
Agree 💯! Poorman , Dr Drew and lovelines was a Sunday night thing during jr high and HS. and I didn’t even listen to kroq music back then. When Poorman was gone I couldn’t listen to it anymore. It just wasn’t the same

Congrats to all of those DJs being good corporate lackies, keeping their jobs for decades and playing by the rules. Poorman did something wild and funny. That's what listeners want. That's show business! No other station did that, or since to my knowledge.

Poorman was always doing dumb stuff on KROQ since he started. That was his calling card. He lost out on a lot after getting fired. Loveline got massively popular. I love Kevin and Bean, but what does it say about KROQ and them when the Poorman, Michael the Maintenance Man, Doc on the Roq, Lisa May, etc. all got let go under strange circumstances.
Yeah their shenanigans helped build KROQ and later they were let go. Many companies do this.

We all know Kevin and Bean, and Adam Corolla had no talent what so over. Its pretty low they had to pick on your career, as they themselves, and KROQ couldnt find a replacement for you. I was lucky enough to actually meet Jim Trenton, he is a different guy. He got really screwed from the higher ups at KROQ. Bean should never have started the feud. Kevin & Bean should have been fired when they lied about the murder conviction. They weren't real KROQ personalities. Woodside and Evan's were the real talented morning show.
Is this a comedy show or The Poorman Trial? I grew up listening to both Kevin and Bean and The Poorman, I'm glad Poorman apologized, even though Bean was attacking him on the air, and extended the olive branch. Bean, however, didn't sound that conciliatory. Bean did say that he had to move his family after Poorman's stunt so it's hard not blame him for saying, "Ok bro, let bygones be bygones.". Both of them, however, are still great KROQ and LA radio icons.
I was a screener for love line in the very early 90's, I left after Kennedy and Riki Rachtman on Adam Corolla's first week. Riki and Adam were assholes, couldn't deal with their shit. Jim Trenton and Drew Pinsky duo made the show, it sucked after that
Yeah man... how much BETTER was the show, when Poorman was there? to not only let the callers speak, tell their stories, but also to tell Mr. Pink to STFU! XD Dr. Djew only shut people down, judged everybody, and then gave sexist advice, telling everyone to get "counseling." What a pos. Loveline was funny, and cool, in the early days; peer-counseling of the highest order, without the dehumanization of the $$$ clinic.

Poorman is the best......I watched him from adventure with the poorman to hosting with the poorman music video in a small tv station in OC. I always stay all night just to listen to poorman on loveline. He was funny and entertaining.....

Firing Poorman was the same as if Howard Stern would have gotten fired. KROQ managament were a bunch of fucking pussies. Poorman and Richard Blade along with a few others made KROQ. If it wasn't for them there would have never been a Dr.Drew or a Adam Carolla or a Kevin and Bean. In fact KROQ prfobably would not exist today.

I agree it was not fair to fire him and they truly are ungrateful. Poor man really made that radio station great. He pulled a much better prank and Bean was a big cry baby. I'v been listing to Poor mans new station 101.5FM KOCI Radio - KOCI-LP. You can stream it from the net if you go to the stations website. It's pretty cool station and even though i'm in New Hampshire now I still get stoked to hear him and the surf report from the guys at the frog house.

I think she was in the background laughing at Adams jokes. But a lot has changed in the station definitely since then. Now and The Morning Show is Stryker and Klein and in order to improve ratings again everybody but Kevin got brought back on the new morning show even Alley.

I’m surprised odyssey hasn’t just scratched KROQ and made it a sports station since it’s pretty low and the ratings for the Los Angeles market. I think it only has a 1.5 in the Nielsen audio ratings this month.

Kevin and Bean are the opposite of entertaining or funny, same with Carolla, and nobody knew there was a Kimmel but at least he has redeemed himself since.
