wow - what a wonderful machine to terrace a whole hillside. the man below it appears to have absolute confidence nothing will fall on him from the machine.
I love these things! They are like little hill spiders that can go pretty much anywhere. I know nothing about heavy machinery, but I know I want one of these things.
i can remember starting digging on a JCB 3C mk2, no extending dig, no four wheel drive, no forks, no four in one, no tourque converter, you even had to get out and manually loosen nuts to slide the back end over. Life was a lot simpler then!lol
The 2 back extended legs make this thing stable as a mountain goat, awesome piece of kit, if I could afford it, it would be great for small farm holding in Alaska.
Amazing machine! well done - but I would have a BIG life insurance policy. And thats going to be some VERY expensive wine. In California we could have 40 hectares planted in the time that terrace took to be built.
A very expert operator and an excellent excavator , this is my opinion as earth moving expert .Unfortunately I am also a geologist and I see a future lanslide if at the same time will not be made of the works of environmental restoration
I want to drive one of these soo bad! theres only 1 of them (its a Kaiser tho) In our whole country, was based locally but I havnt seen it in ages. Would love to know where it went too and try and buy it or atleast have a drive.
@carlbous i know it just has so many moving parts from the arms and bucket to the under cariege and wheel base as well as working in the places its designed for just puts more stress on the operator but this guy looks very layed back for where hes working
+jradke54 It's a original swiss machine, it originates here in switzerland, developed probably about 40years ago by Mr Menzi. It's still build here in switzerland and sold in small numbers, according to it's very own small sales territory (the Alps). It's a highly specialised machine, made for all type of work in mountain sides, steep Creeks and everywhere no other machine goes. It's 4 legs can be moved independently and with the use of the winch, mounted i the undercarriage, there's nearly no Limits... Only 1big drawback it has: Speed. It drives a maximum speed of 15kilometers per hour (something around 9miles/hour I guess) on the road, so it has to be hauled on a flatbed trailer. The older ones, who only had two wheels without any propulsion, could be hooked up directly to a truck like a normal trailer.... It's a terribly expensive piece of machinery... In Austria, they build something nearly identical, called "Kaiser". it's a little bit cheaper, but by far not swiss quality. I think that you've never seen one in the u.s. is simply because they're not known and sold outside the Alps, and I guess, there's simply no use for for this type of machine in the u.s.
Hello madmax21tm, would it possible to contact you regarding one of your videos i.e via mail? I would love to discuss a permission to use it if this is possible. Greetings!
nice control of the bucket, but shouldn't he have made a road so he could drive out afterwards? seriously though thats one hell of a machine, make a wicked radio control model!!! anyone man enough to try and build one???
+Leony da Cruz it happens nearly never. We use them a lot on a daily basis over here in the swiss alps, and the conditions shown in this video are a beginner's conditions... but when it happens, so once every 10-12years, it's quite sure a deadly accident:-(

One of the coolest machines I have looked at in a long time. The Swiss are outstanding engineers.

I really an intrigued. Real nice how it splays the legs at an angle on the hillside. First i've seen an excavator so that.
Now thats a good opperator....nice 360.
Wouah fortiche le gars. Il maîtrise bien sa machine. Il ne faut pas avoir peur de verser.
I've never seen a machine like that, but I immediately want one.
The 2 back extended legs make this thing stable as a mountain goat, awesome piece of kit, if I could afford it, it would be great for small farm holding in Alaska.
I love the new equipment out there. fricken cool
Эх в мои детские бы годы в песочницу бы такой :)
That operator did a great job

@newton92able its no problem just keep the bucket in front and you cant fall over!
now thats what i call clever kit !
must take some practice to get all the actions down good! awesome looking machine!
I dunno what the controls are like; but if they are done right this looks like it must be quite a fun machine to operate.
cara vc´´ e´´ bon tenque ter coragen meus parabens
