I actually don’t use a brown liner because it’s harder to find cool tone shades of it. I opt for an eyebrow pencil instead! They always have cool toned shades which are also dark which means it’s super brown girl friendly!!!

And a straight nose! Mine is kinda hourglass shaped (like goes from narrow to wide to narrow to wide) and it just looks funky if I contour it lol. I just ignore make contour when I do makeup 😂

I have a wide nose (thanks to my african heritage) and I found the perfect way for my nose that definitely works! You just gotta experiment what works best for your nose and face shape because honestly our noses are already made to fit our face so often contour isn‘t needed and snatching it too much can look weird and unfitting so try to keep it more natural and balanced

I've got a really long, thin nose and traditional nose contour styles that go up the bridge and over the tip don't work at all - I've learned that for my nose shape, it's best if I only take the contour halfway up the bridge (and only that far for pics and stuff), but keep most of it above my nostrils on the sides. I usually do a > shape following my nostril & parallel to the bridge, and that works for me.
Contour isn't going to make a big nose look smaller, but it can definitely enhance the existing shape and bring out the best in your features!

What I will say is that the reason noses look slimmer is because of that shadow you covered up with the concealer. That being said, it’s important to recreate the shadow with that liner(albeit higher up the nose) in order to give that illusion, otherwise, it’s just those two thin lines, and the rest of your nose is washed out!

If you have an actual like button tip to your nose, or if you have a nose where the tip is, Bulbasaur protrude off of the the ridge then that type of contour will probably work. However, if you have a flat nose, if your ridge goes straight down to your tip and there’s no protrusion or bump or bulge whatever it’s probably not going to work for you because your face doesn’t naturally make that shadow so instead of enhancing what you already have you’re actually creating something that doesn’t exist so you have to do it in a very painterly way, but even then your face is 3-D, and what you’re creating is 2d so it’s always gonna look a little bit off

I don’t have a flat nose, but I have a large nose tip compared to the rest of my face. Best way I found is to use self tanner (doesn’t budge and saves you time/product in the mornings). Make a horizontal line where you want your nose tip to “start” and then blend this out. Make another line where you want it to “end” and then fade this down and under the tip. It’s a very natural looking contour cuz I tend to hate caking on makeup usually and my nose is the first place I get oily).
Also! Know your skin tone. I was trying a cool tone brown contour and it looked fake and weird. I realized my skin was very peachy/neutral (strong yellow undertone and some red undertone) and a cool brown contour might look ok in a photo, but looks fake in real life.

I know this is something not many people will agree with me about, but I think ANY nose contour technique only works if you already got a nose that is close to perfect/fits the current beauty standard. Essentially you can only make noses look slimmer (and only from the front), that’s it. If your concerns with your nose are *any* other than looking wide from the front, a nose contour won’t help you. You can’t contour away a long nose, big nostrils, a bump, your nose being crooked, asymmetries…

Where I’m from most don’t contour they use bronzer as contour and are so shocked when I show them what shade I use for contour. Even some of best makeup artists here don’t use contour shades they just use darker bronzer which works for very very few people here. The few I’ve done makeup on where scared seeing some of the cooler tones or using things they where told they can’t use because of age or colour. An they look in the mirror in shock at how well the makeup looks.
