We need laws to protect our own data from being monetized in ways that we aren’t aware of or don’t benefit from. Not to mention the lack of protection of data
@@Symphoniics No. I think info sharing should be highly regulated and transparent, though i actually don't mind driver data being shared. Agressive/Dangerous drivers should be charged $200 a month more etc. Safe responsible drivers should get their insurance cut. BUT, I want it to be completely transparent and monitored by a responsible regulator with spelled out rights protection. I also think you have a right to the advertising revenue you generate from facebook etc. You have a right to know how much you are "worth" and exactly what they are selling.
By the way this information can be gleaned from other sources like your phone or smart watch. So don’t think you will be safe by turn it off at your car. There is a need for legislation to prevent businesses from using personally identifiable data, whatever be the source.
Insurance companies can use this data to make you look more risky than you really are and make more money off you by charging more though your risk to them isn’t as high as they claim. Just because you drove above the speed limit on an empty road doesn’t mean you’re a riskier driver
The govt needs to create a central database that allows US users to set a profile and setup their data usage permissions. All businesses must connect and to this database and follow the settings. Any violations should be heavily punished financially. Problem solved.
Are the cellphone carriers also selling your driving speeds, acceleration and braking rates, etc to your vehicle insurance companies because cellphone location tracking gathers the same information?
My car insurance policy went up by $480 a year all of the sudden, I called them and they told me "it's due to current changes to bla, bla, bla, this, that, and the other.." My policy is over 10 years old.. Past claims I made was always people hitting me and proven to be not my fault. The last one was my 2020 SUV getting rear ended while parked in front of my house by a drugged up guy whom fell asleep on the wheel of his 1993 hooptie... The one before that a few years ago was an elderly lady whom turned left against her red light because her GPS told her to and t-boned me but not before she hit another car first totaling it. I now had to raise my deductible to be able to afford driving legally and keep my car on the road in one piece.
I must be the only person on Earth who read the privacy policy after buying my GM vehicle, saw that they clearly say that they plan to sell your data, and called the phone number to opt out.
Well good for you. I'm sure that it is always clearly stated within a short contract that only takes a few minutes to read with a patient car salesman encouraging people to take their time reading it with no pressure at all to sign.
And also, did the data privacy policy state that your data was going to be used by your insurance company to potentially raise your rates? Didn't think so. How does boot leather taste, btw?
This relates to Gen AI using other people's work in their data collection. Also, EZ Pass has the ability to track your average speed from when you entered to when you exited (assuming you didn't stop to take a leak). But they realize that less people would use EZ Pass if their speed was being tracked and enforced.
I have State Farm Drive Safe and Save. I have saved about $300 per year, and it is an incentive to drive safely. I will have to see what they do with the data.
They’re raising everyone’s prices. Theyre lying to justify it. Are accidents becoming more common? No they are not. Insurance companies are just being greedy little French seals 🦭

How is that legal/constitutional?
@@charlestwitchell4634 it’s legal once you make it a law. I’m not too worried about negatively impacting business.
@@charlestwitchell4634Are you suggesting we should keep letting corporations screw us over and violate our privacy?

We need a constitutional ammendment on privacy in the usa, that our privacy can not be violated by anyone, whatsoever without our informed consent.

I love when these programs state your insurance may also decrease 😂
When is the last time you’ve seen ANY price for ANYTHING decrease??
@@TheFrogfeederseveral things over the last year…
NEver happens. Once the price goes up, and companies SEE that people are willing to PAY it, that price will never drop again.
Not in the Democrat city.

If data is available then businesses will use it to improve their margins!!
They should cover how rates r up for the increased risk of uninsured drivers the last 2 years yea how do you sue someone who has no ID or SSN?

Yes, you are the only one. Good job.
Suddenly my 2009 bare bones ford ranger looks stealthy. Think I’ll keep it
Look up Mazda's Telematics Control Unit (TCU)
I moved to New Hampshire for the main reason of they don't require you to have car insurance and now I can afford to live.
WOW. This need to stop. Uh oh. Tech is in trouble

It should be illegal to say I chose something because I didn't opt out. I will never trade in my old vehicle.
Any car company that shares info on how fast I drive will never have my business - period.
GM really messed up, let's see if ever anyone buys any GM car after this news.
Insurance needs to collect data on following distance and phone usage. Too many idiots running into the backs of cars. Already happened to me 3 times.
soon toilets will have cameras to send usage data to health insurance companies
As I recall this was just GM doing this correct? And they also stopped doing it when this came to lite several months back.
And the US claims Chinese vehicles are stealing your data 😂😂
MAYBE SNOWDEN WAS RIGHT
Don’t you dare talk bad bout my big brother
this is absolutely insane
Yeah need to make it clear what consumers are signing up for
That is going to make me want to baby my 2010 Elantra.
I see some hefty lawsuits, easy win for lawyers..
MAKE PRIVACY LAWS NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. It's already too late. The government is supposed to protect the peoples privacy.
I didn't know this. I have this services too. OMG.
No defense against the screws tightened by insurance companies. Make more money is the only way around them.
Been happening since 2011
I went to pick my truck up at dealer after service , there mechanic just put it to the floor out of the garage! I just never went back !

I've noticed way more aggressive driving since the pandemic and it doesn't seem to be getting any better. Aggressive drivers should PAY!
Business is just going to use it to scam the customer. Insurance is the worst scam all for corporate greed.
creepy
They hacked my privacy
Bad driver pays higher premium while lowing cost of good driver, I would say go for it! Tesla is doing same thing.

The Biden way to jack boot this country
@200cdl youre mistaken. This is private corporations "jackbooting" american consumers due to lax regulatory enforcement
President Biden's regulators are ending junk fees and other scams from banks and F500 corporations
Tick tock is an issue but US companies can do this 😅😅😅😅
😂
Another good use of AI. Mo profit, mo profit, mo profit.
Oh no! Dangerous drivers are paying a higher share of overall societal car insurance costs!
Where’s the problem?
