    The person who made the decision to release this dude from prison so soon should be held accountable. But that won't happen, the process will continue, and innocent people will be murdered.

      $32,000 a yr for each inmate could be why they release violent humans over & over. DP is cheaper. Hanging should come back when they r mass killers!

      These bought and paid for DAs and now judges are an absolute dredge on society. And it's only getting worse.
      It's sickening and all they'll do is restrict law abiding citizens rights to protect themselves, making citizens sitting ducks for the criminals these law makers constantly set free.
      Imagine if just ONE of these victims were also armed and was able to get a few off into this garbage criminal?! Just ONE person, that's all it takes. People NEED to arm themselves & practice practice practice and obviously live by the rules of safety. If they think getting rid of firearms is going to HELP they are just ridiculous.
      An armed society is a polite society. How many criminals are dumb enough to try this at a gun shop or cop shop?!
      This mayor or the sheriff, or SOMEONE needs to look at why VIOLENT criminals are being set free.... And not just yap about it. DO SOMETHING about it.
      I carry 24/7 (aside from where I'm not supposed to, which is stupid bc those are ALWAYS the places you're probably going to need it most), because I refuse to be a sitting duck or a hiding "hostage" bc some DA set a violent criminal free LONG before they ever should have been set free.
      They also need to have mandatory treatment in prison. Instead of these gross talking heads giving themselves raises, or spending thousands every year on office furniture, they need to spend money on prison programs & don't make them optional. Anger management, cognitive behavior therapy, drug rehab, and have a vocational training program for those who are coming close to the end of their sentence so they'll have SOME skill to help them be productive members of society. And bring back 3 strike laws for violent offenders.

      If prisons actually tried to rehabilitate people, then they'd see who isn't progressing and not consider early release. We are just storing people like old cars that'll have the same problems and worse when released.

      Exactly. Accountability all the way up the ladder in all government matters. Especially with all the years of corruption and deceit by the people in charge in every single department and office in city government. Enough is enough and we've had more than enough.

    If every violent offender was promptly executed, then these things would not be happening over and over again. I would have no problem with the death penalty for EVERY violent offender because they will just continue their life of violence after release, as we have clearly seen here. It would solve the problem of prison overcrowding as well.

    Memphis is suffering from the same issues that alot of cities are suffering through. Police department budgets are dwindling, the courts are too soft on violent criminals, which in turn makes criminals less fearful of prosecution. Alot of of our cities are turning in Gotham, except for the fact Batman aint coming to save you lol. There is hope though, and I always refer back to comment I read about 3 years ago. Open up the death penalty within each state, how some criminal operate is like prison is not a bad place for them anymore. If murder happens like a shoot out injuring and killing innocent people, then it should be questioned for the death penalty. The idea is that you are dangerous to society and can't be trusted to continue living.

    • @vidz06
      @vidz06 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ALWAYS said the death penalty should be legal and it should be the families burden to kill the person not someone that works for the state where they gotta have that on their conscience. If the person is given the death sentence then the kin of the victim must fire the gun, flip the switch, inject the needle, release the gas etc.if they decide to carry it out.That is fair and balanced. Doing it this way is best it puts the authority in the victims families hands. Many times people forgive and the person is still executed, other times they want them dead and their not executed.

      I can't stand reporters. They're like sharks who smell blood & just circle the bleeder. I had a bad experience during my high school graduation.... 4 days before there was a horrific car accident that took the lives of 2 classmates, the 2 voted best looking or most popular, oddly enough. And they were both literally friends with everyone, but the girl (Margo) was one of my best friends, we were excited bc she was sitting in front of me during graduation.... Instead I had to stare at an empty chair that had her gown draped over it and her cap on her seat. It was the worst day ever.... And as SOON as we walked off the field there were the disgusting reporters who just couldn't WAIT to stuff a mic in our faces while asking STUPID questions like "how did it feel to have to sit behind her empty chair?" are you fn kidding me??!! Like how insensitive and gross and I've HATED reporters ever since. They are the worst of humanity

If you ask me that's too good for this little punk, it's obvious he's a psycho who's played too much GTA and the reaction once he gets into prison will probably be that he's a celebrity or something. Of course, there will be other people in prison who will want to take his ass out, and let's hope they get to him before he even gets to trial, because lots of guys in prison just for drugs or something do not like the idea of their family members being killed by Grand theft Auto wannabes, and as long as you're already in prison, well, s*** happens

    Eliza “Liza” Wellford Fletcher, 34, went home to her Savior on September 2, 2022. She was born on November 9, 1987 in Memphis, TN, to adoring parents, Adele Orgill Wellford and James Beasley Wellford. Following graduation from the Hutchison School in 2006, Liza played soccer for the University of Memphis and later completed her undergraduate education at Baylor University. She received a Master’s Degree in Teaching from Belmont University. She devoted her work and boundless childlike energy to her students at Promise Academy and later her Junior Kindergarten students at St. Mary’s Episcopal School. As with everything Liza took on, she nurtured and cared for her students with her whole heart. A strong believer in the importance of personal growth, she was not afraid to be vulnerable. To the contrary, she embraced it. A born athlete, Liza’s passion for sports extended from childhood teams to collegiate competition to excellence in marathons in adulthood. She found great joy in her morning runs with friends. She channeled her competitive nature into enthusiastic participation in all that she undertook. She truly walked and modeled the Christian life and trusted in her unwavering faith. Liza was a light to all who knew her. Her contagious smile and laughter could brighten any room. Liza was pure of heart and innocent in ways that made her see the very best in everyone she met. To know her was to love her and to be loved by her. Her impact is extraordinary, as is witnessed in the prayer groups, vigils held at the homes of friends and family, church and school gatherings, and memorial runs and walks held in her honor. The outpouring of love and grief would have surprised Liza, who never thought or acted as if she were something special - though she certainly was. Above all else, Liza’s most cherished role was that of wife and mother. After meeting at Second Presbyterian Church, she married her beloved husband, Richard James Fletcher III, on March 8, 2014, and they later welcomed their two rambunctious, joyful boys Richard James Fletcher IV and Harry Wellford Fletcher. She loved her family fiercely and unconditionally. Together as a family, they enjoyed outdoor adventures including boating, water sports, hiking, running, and biking. She was deeply admired by her family and friends for her passionate dedication to motherhood. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her parents, her brother, Gil Wellford, her grandmother, Irene Orgill, her father-in-law, Richard James Fletcher, Jr., and her sister-in-law, Annie Fletcher. She is predeceased by her grandparents, Katherine and Harry Wellford, her grandfather, Joe Orgill, and her mother-in-law, Diane Fletcher. Liza also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who love and miss her dearly. Funeral services will be held at Second Presbyterian Church at 10:00am on Saturday, September 10. The family requests that memorials be made to the Liza Wellford Fletcher Memorial Fund at St. Mary’s Episcopal School, Christ Methodist Day School, and Second Presbyterian Church. “Restore to me the joy of your salvation and uphold in me a willing spirit.” Psalm 51:12

    This kid was on drugs. Nobody does random stuff like that while simultaneously streaming on Facebook live. This country better start investing in its at-risk youth because there are only so many prisons a nation can build. Lock one up, and another will take his place. Create a robust, adequately funded social safety net, invest in early childhood development via free universal daycare and pre-school, assist parents by offering free early childhood parenting classes (this is taught in college... it can be provided free to the masses), create less crowded classrooms, offer free after school STEAM classes to all Title 1 schools, and push adoption via Public Service Announcements. Most American youth issues can be fixed or better managed... we have the money and the academic research to help these kids before it gets to this point. The ages of these people say a lot. Per neurological research, the parts of the brain that govern future thinking and self-control aren't fully formed until one is in their mid to late 20s.

      Nobody in this country gets more money spent on them, and more special programs put in place for them, and receives more state, federal and private charity money given to them, than blk ppl, with less to show for it. It's time to address the facts. It's genetic.

    I wanted to just comment on the amazing job ABC24 reporters did tonight and early this morning getting the information out to the people to shelter in place. ABC24 reporting saved many people during this rampage, in my opinion. The people of Memphis, because they sheltered in place, gave their police force all their support to capture this man. To all the law enforcement involved, you did a tremendous job stopping and capturing this man. To all the people who gave information to the police through social media,, you are heroes. What most people do not understand during an incident like this, it is the people of the city who choose to report what they see, who are the eyes and ears for the police. If people stand back and do nothing, the police have a harder time to do their jobs. Thank you to those who chose to help to stop this man. We all have a responsibility to keep our families safe and make our communities safe. My prayers go out to all the victims and their families now and the coming days. Stay 901strong, let your voices be heard all the way to the state, and comfort each other in words and deeds.

    • @vadapowell8111
      @vadapowell8111 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kermitgray61 yes, the reporters and their editors are responsible for how the facts, information, etc. is reported all the time. In this event, there was no time for edited copy. With the pressure of ensuring people knew to stay in place, I believe ABC24 did a tremendous job. Being able to convey that type of information without sounding panicked is difficult, in my opinion. They repeated the shelter in place order several times. I believe getting that message out saved lives. I shudder to think what could have happened had ABC24 and the other local news had not worked so hard to get the information out for the shelter in place order.
