Enfin un conservatoire français qui s'attaque au répertoire de Lyle Mays ! C'est suffisamment rare pour le souligner. On mesure la complexité de ses arrangements quand on regarde et écoute ce très bel ensemble interpréter cette pièce difficile, avec brio et entrain. Le petit détail qui a toute son importance, c'est ce timbre retiré de la caisse claire pendant la dernière transition, le signe évident de la très grande attention portée par l'Ensemble au son de l'ensemble. Le résultat est bluffant. Merci à vous toutes et tous pour ce très beau travail, qui force le respect et rend bel hommage à cet exceptionnel musicien américain.
Pour information, ce morceau fut composé et dédié par Lyle Mays à Eberhard Weber, un contrebassiste et compositeur allemand, collaborateur et ami proche du compositeur. La première mouture date de 2009 et 2010 et les enregistrements furent terminés en 2019 et 2020. C'est la dernière "contribution" de Lyle Mays réalisée avant sa disparition, et publiée 18 mois plus tard en 2021, à titre posthume.
Merci infiniment, @Elixear. Il y a quelques années, j'avais déjà commencé à explorer les arrangements du PMG avec l'ensemble de mes élèves, et tu peux retrouver tout cela dans mes vidéos. Lorsque j'ai découvert ce morceau, j'ai été littéralement époustouflé, et il m'a semblé évident que je ne pouvais pas faire autrement que de le jouer avec l'ensemble. Un de mes élèves de la classe a pu élaborer un arrangement en se basant sur la partition de Lyle. Ce morceau incarne à lui seul toute la richesse de ce qu'était Lyle Mays : sa générosité, son raffinement, son intelligence, sa profonde culture musicale, et bien plus encore. C'est un hommage sincère à cet artiste exceptionnel qui a laissé une empreinte indélébile dans le monde de la musique.

Since the release of "Eberhard," I haven't stopped listening to it for days, as I believe he managed to compose the perfect piece, an immortal gift from his creative genius.
It was imperative for me to play it with the percussion ensemble. So, here is our interpretation. Thank you for keeping the memory of Lyle alive.

This is such an exquisite piece of music. With its multiple movements it takes the listener on a magical musical journey - an exploration to bliss that caused me to fall in love with the song my first time hearing it. Seeing and hearing this live performance of Eberhard is a delightful added treat.
