  • We take the AREX Gen2 Delta M Tactical to the range, test it suppressed, add an optic, go over its features, and what I think of it overall. Is this what the Gen5 Glocks should have been?

Just like everyone else in the comments it seems I absolutely adore my Gen 2 M in FDE. Color is beautiful, extremely light weight and great ergos. I run mine with a Holosun 407K green dot with Olight mini 2 in an ANR Design holster. I have hundreds if not a few thousand rounds through mine and have had zero malfunctions.

So i found out yesterday that this gun will fit into a P07 holster. Take a dremel and cut away the area for the optic, and it retains perfectly. You may need to loosen the lower tension a touch.
Also the mags from the P07 and P10 run in it perfectly.
So far ive got around 350 rounds through mine and i think its an awesome gun.
They should try and get into the micro market. I think this platform would be great in 3.5" barrel at around 1.1 " think.

Love my Delta M, got an optic mounted and use it in a holster made for a Glock 19. Ian over at Forgotten Weapons got me interested in it when he reviewed one several months back and demonstrated the take down procedure. That alone sold me on getting one! I've had one for about six months now and put about 400 or so rounds through it so far. No issues at all.

I own the M, it's a good shooter, but full disclosure - I've replaced to two strikers, the cocked indicator broke on both, and the lug broke on one. The (included) 17 rd mag repeatably explodes when dropped on the base plate. I have about 600 rds through it with no malfunctions and 4Bros makes holsters for it.

    • @princevalencia8816

I have one 17rd and two 19rr mags and regularly drop them on soil, gravel, rocks, and cement but have never had any issues of them exploding. Lol. Granted when I drop them for a reload, the magazine is empty. I’ve never tried dropping it loaded. The only visual evidence that they’ve been dropped a lot is scuff marks and scratches.
I genuinely wonder how your baseplate exploded.

I have a gen2 L I got two years ago, I’ve probably only put about 600 rounds through it but I’ve had no problems and it’s an amazing shooter. The trigger is CRISPY AF. It was so nice to learn proper pistol fundamentals with this gun. The only issue I had with it is that it’s kinda boring, both to shoot and aesthetically. Definitely not much of a looker, although it isn’t ugly. But it’s also so monotonous to shoot, there’s no drama. You point, pull the trigger, and it hits where you aim. It’s definitely more of a tool, not a range toy. And it’ll get the job done. I still like my P320 better, but to be honest I probably shoot better with this one.

Delta has an Achilles Heel and that is the pair of polymer retainer cup that hold the recoil spring onto the guide rod. These are similar in function to the striker spring cups found on Glocks/clones. I discovered one of these cups was missing on my recoil spring assembly after approx. 750 rounds. Fortunately spares are available from Global. They're cheap (less than $1 a pair) but the shipping is pretty steep.

After a few weeks of dry firing with snap caps (requires you to load/reload) and about 300-400 rounds at the range, my mag release on both sides (lefty here) loosened up. My Delta X mag release is almost as smooth as my PDP now. I have about 1500 rounds through my Delta X and have zero complaints. If you have the Glock already no need to change. The question would be more relevant if you didn’t own either.
People trade in their stuff way too often in my opinion. I’ve been guilty of it too. Unless you’re in a competition and need the best tool to keep up in that sphere there’s no reason to keep trading out unless you are making a huge leap or a significant change, such as “I want a thinner gun with more rounds and that exists today unlike when I bought my old gun” or “I really want an optic and my gun was made before that was a thing”
Now that I’ve wasted a lot of time and money flipping around in the last 15 years, I’m settled. I won’t buy anything new unless it’s really getting me some new capabilities I didn’t have before. I’m done chasing the Joneses. Only thing that really interests me is upgrading optics on a couple of rifles to something nicer.

Sometimes “the test of time” can be a valuable selling tool. Even me, not just gun stuff, will be shown that product A is just better than product B in every way, but product A might have only existed for 5 years while product B has been around for 50 years. Maybe I’m stubborn but in that case I’d rather play it safe and stick with product B unless it’s just WAY better but that’s rarely the case.

I keep saying it, but gun companies need to stop making Ambi/Left handed firearms. The world's not fair. I say this as a left hander. Only holsters should be left handed. 90-88% of guns aren't made for you. What about bull pups? There are sights made at an angle it to your left eye, or turn the rifle 45°. The reason I mention this is being left handed isn't a handicap. Being left handed actually makes you more adaptive and unpredictable. I also want to mention left handed also means left eye dominant. If someone's left handed, but right eyed dominate, shoot right handed.
