I couldnt be a vet. I would have to deliver bad news to everyone who brought in the animal. But just because i would have stuffed it in my pocket and smuggled it home. "I am sorry for your loss. But the animal is in a better place now."
If you haven't already, take the cat to a vet, the minute you see an animal eating something that is aside from a normal diet then it's a good idea to phone your local vet in order to determine if what they consumed is dangerous and if they need to come in for an inspection, don't comment something bad happening on a youtube video! Always go to the professionals first!

Vet here... They also teach those specializations under Wildlife Medicine. You can practice the subject when they make you choose for an internship.

not necessarily. you don’t just put sick animals down you also help them, given them medicine, comfort them, do surgeries on them, etc
and I know it’s upsetting to put an animal down but you also look on the bright side of things which is that the animal was suffering
