New subscriber based on this great summary and review! Now that it’s a year later does this game still hold up in your opinion? Do you like it better solo, coop, or two handed solo? It looks right up my alley and with the new campaign going I’m considering backing, just not sure what tier…
I'm glad you enjoyed the content! Apologies for the delayed response! Now that the Monoliths is in our hands, I do feel it does hold up and I am glad I backed it. They made some tweaks from the original game (some good, some annoying). I do like how the game is more streamlined and flows quicker than the original. They streamlined the portal cards to 3 basic portals depending on your player count which is great! I still very much enjoy the game solo and primarily play it that one single handed. Now it is very challenging but who doesn't like a good challenge. Co-op is fun but sometimes feels too easy. I have yet to play a 3 player game or 1v1 where one player is the horde! I would highly recommend this new standalone expansion!!
@@gamingwiththepowers awesome, thanks for the response! I don’t have any of the content yet, it just looks right up my alley. Since it’s not supposed to deliver until June 2025ish, I’m considering still backing the “all-in” on the campaign but buying the base set now from their website to play.
It's my understanding that all the new rules and improvements are in the monoliths expansion as it says in the Monoliths rulebook to replace certain cards from the base set. If they have not updated the base box then I would say Monoliths is a must! So Base + Monoliths would be my recommendation for a solid first experience!
They have added 4 more alliance decks with new cards that you could use in combination with the decks from the first game. Some might improve the original player decks, but mostly it just adds in new mechanics.

@@gamingwiththepowers would you recommend just the base set + mat for a solid first experience? Or should I just go Base + Monolith?
