    When I was a kid in the 1970’s I wanted to be a comic book artist. My parents told me, “Black people don’t do that” because they didn’t know of any Black comic book or comic strip artists although they did exist. Kids today are able to see Black comic book artists & writers to gain inspiration and, sometimes, meet them at cons. I wish I’d known that Billy Graham was Black so I could have written to him and, maybe, arranged to meet him at a con in NYC along with my parents. Maybe then I would have had parental support.

    When I was adolescent my family couldn't afford for me to go to Joe kubert school to refine my Craft. And a youngster being black I kinda stuck with my work. And became self taught but the experience really showed me what I wanted to do even when my parents was broke we prayed.
